    I started in photography when digital didn't exist. Film was it - there wasn't anything else. Being a "film photographer" is far more complicated than being a "digital photographer". Film imposes discipline on the photographer. You have to know your film, developer, printing technique, etc. There wasn't a screen to see (chimp) if you got the shot. You either had it - or you didn't. Darkroom technique only went so far to save a poor image. And yeah, you had to have physical prints to see if you got what you wanted- no screens.
