Just wanted to say I've been shooting for many years but only recently understanding the need to not just rush and get as many great shots as possible. I made conscious effort to calm the bride at my last wedding with our pre ceremony photos for 5 mins. We were running late but the bride mentioned about 4 times throughout the day how much it had really calmed her and how much she enjoyed it / how special she had felt. Just wanted to thank you for really highlighting the importance of this.
I like the video. It was recommended to me. Would you be willing to share your wedding playlist that you use for relaxing? Don’t worry about being judged - stilly, fun or chill, it would be neat to hear what you like.
Lol okay who read the ACOTAR books here??? The wedding scene is all I could think of when you said that the bride isn’t going to do something unpredictable. 😂 (real talk though…I totally agree. I think the wedding days themselves are tiring BUT less stressful than the drive home with the SD cards haha)
Great video. Very genuine. I liked it very much. Also, from your 2023 list, the SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO CFexpress Card Type B is cheaper, $140 from B&H.
My method for handling stress when I’m going to shoot a wedding. Prayer🙏✝️ I pray for calmness, ability to relax and be professional and at peace. It always works.
So I did at some point start taking less images and focused on more good quality ones. Well, alI ended up taking about 1000 images more per 12-hour wedding (from 2000 to 3000), with about double amount being good quality compared to before (I used to give out 300-500 images for a 12-hour wedding, and now it's 700-1000 good quality images 😂 and that's after culling 3 times 😂) Also, I actually love the wedding chaos. It makes me calm, forces me to focus
Hi Luke, I'm Griselda. Can you perhaps create a video specific to storytelling? I struggle with that. My photos mostly are medium distanced (not too far, not too close) and a lot of straight on looking at the cameras smiling. Thankfully though, I do give fun prompts (dancing, fake laughing, etc.) so there's a bit of genuine reactions and candid moments. When I search online, most storytelling is for fine art photography. The examples used are landscape and portraits, not many show commercial wedding examples. Can you give tips to create a better storytelling?
luke, for someone who is not a teacher you're an amzing teacher!
Thanks man!! 🙏🏻

I love it! YES YES it's so important. Glad it reinforced things you are already doing!

My first time seeing you channel. All great advice. Love your enthusiasm.
Awesome! Thank you!
I started photography in the film days. I still photograph as if I’m still using film! Put more thought in to the photos you take.
I love your videos!!
Thank you,
So many great tips! This is my second year in business and I’ll be bringing all your knowledge to my own weddings this year 😊

Hi Luke. Do you see any difference between a 50mm 1.2 image and a 80mm 2 image taken with a contax? I cant find a comparison online.
How many rolls of film would you recommend for a wedding?

I shot a wedding on Friday afternoon and evening and I shot just around 600 photos. My colleague shot over 1000.

Amen to that!! 🙏🏾

Agreed! I would love a video like this
2x body, 35mm, 85mm, flash 😉
1:34 Because you can count the number, it’s fewer not less. 😂
You're so nice
