OmarIsuf been keeping up with him ever since seeing him with Mark Bell and those guys. Great guy for sure and would love to see more from him on here !
Haha! Love this guy already. The Highland games are freakin awesome! Let's face it, anything which involved big men in skirts throwing crap over their heads is cool
My new fave channel. VERY well rounded lifter, laid back, drinks whiskey, loves to eat, reps Sorinex, doesn't preach, strong as F. He's like the cooking channel of lifting: different recipies from a veteran professional, traveling all over the place.
I love the content for athletes. Been trying to find videos and lifts that will help out with athleticism and being a better athlete. Thanks OmarIsuf and please bring more content like this.
Clear and concise on 2 exercises I don't think I've seen done in my 5 months at a commercial gym. Pretty legit and is why I stay subbed despite the constant reiteration of general knowledge that seems to plague the UA-cam fitness niche.
I like Matt a lot. Great personality! Would love to know more how he prepares for his competitions. Diet and workouts, even rest days to mobility. That box is a sir!
Hahaha just as they mentioned this week on the Powercast, he's gotta be the most self-deprecating world champion out there: "So0o, if you're not familiar with the Highland Games, if you've ever seen moderately fat guys in kilts throw a telephone pole...that's what I do." Awesome vid!
Really enjoyed that guy. Nice to see some explosive movements that seem to be more low risk/high reward compared to doing some olympic lifts without a coach.
Informative, funny and very useful. I've been thinking about doing some kind of high pull, whether snatch or power clean. Something to work the upper back/traps. I like Bryan's stuff, but he's definitely much more technical and talks like a coach. (Not a Couch though.)
This hits the spot perfectly for me right now! I was looking for something to add a bit more athleticism to my workouts and your video just gave me two excellent and fun/painful tools to add to my routine! Thanks, Fat Owl! (Although to my eyes the fat part seems a tad bit overrated.)
I've read (you know how that goes), that power training before strength training on same day workout. The idea is that the power training takes more neuromuscular, um, memory(?) to perform safely. Almost everyone I actually see using Power movements (outside of a pilates or power program) seems to exercise strength first. Thoughts? Confirmation?
Was expecting people to hate on him because he's wearing Crossfit shoes... But oh well, glad that people are taking him for his credibility. Also, that external rotation in the set up is crazy!
@ matt. One. And this is serious.... Can u dunk!? Seems like ur vertical is off the charts. Two. Will quad dominant movements increase the vertical? I have always wanted to incorporate front skwaaats to increase explosion but my mobility is garbage and these movements make me feel like with enough reps I can do them. Tx so much for sharing...
I havent been feeling much pain in my muscle lately. But the weights i'm currently doing was very difficult to me. Should i increase rep but lower my weights a bit or should i stay with the current weight?
You sould ft Richard Hawthorne! He have a amzing deadlift and rly know how to use his body for the most leverge. Think alot of people can get a big deadlift boost from hes advice.
I have an Omarian doll but I can never get the hair quite right, its a real problem. Would love to see Alex cho's routine, I don't understand how he can stay "small" and be that strong.
Hey Omar, can you do a scientific video w/ research articles on which muscle fibers are used more than the other in powerlifting? And if you're born with type 1 vs type 2 whether or not it'll help you in PL.
Dluu22 I am not Omar but hope this answers a bit of your question. "Type II fibers are more responsive to strength training and grow more than Type I fibers do, so fiber type distribution may limit long-term strength potential somewhat. However, that’s purely theoretical, because research has shown that elite powerlifters (average squat/deadlift of about 285kg/630lbs, and bench 170kg/375lbs) actually have about the same Type I/Type II fiber ratio as untrained people, which leads you to believe the sport itself didn’t select for people with a fiber ratio skewed toward Type II. So it may be a concern for someone with an unusually high proportion of Type I fibers, but it won’t be for the vast majority of people." Greg Nuckols I would recommend you to read "The journey : How to reach your full potential" written by Greg Nuckols and shared by Omar on his FB page.
Sean Campbell don't look like he needed vitamin t. Hypothesis: squeezes calves when in the process of busting a nutt. that's a solid once a day/twice a day work out for nigh on (guessing) 28 years?
I wouldn't mind seeing some more videos from this guy.
bob bill yeah man, he's a great dude, if you guys like the content I'd love to feature him more on the channel!

Awesome video
The Fat Owl!
I was at those games in the video (you can see me in the background). I met Matt afterwards, and he's a pretty cool guy.
Thanks! I'll definitely try out the high pulls. What do I say to the nosy people in my commercial gym tho??
Matt is a true old school professional athlete. I would love to know what kind of workout (in detail) does he do off season. Thumbs up
Ballers love this thanks cheers!!!!
Matt is a man of wisdom
Stupid question but when you say jump, do I jump as shown in the video(only the heels leave the floor, toes stay on)? Or actually fully jump up?
Great video !
Was expecting people to hate on him because he's wearing Crossfit shoes... But oh well, glad that people are taking him for his credibility. Also, that external rotation in the set up is crazy!
***** for a big guy it's definitely something... Can see some K Star influence haha
The Fat Owl! Love this guy. His Drifta Lifta series is great.
Yo Omar! Could you have a Q & A with your olympic weightlifting coach, have a few questions for him (not only about his hair)
Great content!
@ matt.
I understand. Tx for the insight appreciate the videos.
Random: haven't seen any reviews on those fancy aluminum collars I see you using, Matt... Like em?
I havent been feeling much pain in my muscle lately. But the weights i'm currently doing was very difficult to me. Should i increase rep but lower my weights a bit or should i stay with the current weight?
Bloody good video that bor
Do you use momentum when performing the shrug movement or do you control the weight the entire time?
You sould ft Richard Hawthorne! He have a amzing deadlift and rly know how to use his body for the most leverge. Think alot of people can get a big deadlift boost from hes advice.
Omar will you do a video on how to get lush black long horse like hair ? I just want my hair to sway in the wing and float in the sea like you .
This guy got the stuff.
I like this bloke already
do you actually need to jump and have your feet in air at snach pull or do you "just" lift yourself on toes?
Humble dude
great guy, subbed

Owned
Good info, subbed
How can I incorporate these high pulls into my routine? Would it be too much or do I these alone. I usually do full body eod, 5-6 sets/body part.

When he says Jump am I jumping high feet leaving the ground
Can this help me build a thick/strong upper back if I this to my back routine or days I deadlift also how heavy should the med balls be
that box jump tho... amazing hack
But Matt, the catch position in the snatch builds them traps like nobody's business.
I love him (wait no I HVIII him) his meathead mobility is the best
I have an Omarian doll but I can never get the hair quite right, its a real problem. Would love to see Alex cho's routine, I don't understand how he can stay "small" and be that strong.

Matt where did you get your wrist straps from? #fatowl
Hey Omar, can you do a scientific video w/ research articles on which muscle fibers are used more than the other in powerlifting? And if you're born with type 1 vs type 2 whether or not it'll help you in PL.
Dluu22 Powerlifting is all IIa fibers. Yes, IIb fibers are faster. No, they won't help a powerlifter.
Dluu22 I am not Omar but hope this answers a bit of your question.
