I've only watched this movie once, when I was influenced by edibles and alcohol and also trying to disassociate from life as a whole.
I thought it was passable at the time.
I now realize what I thought was me passing out and my brain trying to fill in the gaps actually happened. And holy shit, that's terrifying--that a movie _this bad_ managed to get greenlit.
Did the same thing, watched it high and was super confused and didnt get it. Watched it sober months later and was like "ohhhh the movie was just awful"

Which doesn't sound very impactful because every american experience I've heard of is so intense and strange it deserves to have "violently" affixed to it, but damn. Like, genuinely, you shouldn't have an experience like that, ever. Tbh as bad as Corden is, he's pretty good in The Wrong Mans, a comedy about Sam Pinkett (Matthew Baynton) and Phil Bourne (Corden) who get entangled in crime and a conspiracy completely on accident.

I just realised how weird it is to have your Password be your crush's name
When I watched this at my local theater the Friday it came out, I cheered when the fake out death happened (I remember hearing children screaming, so definitely a mixed reaction!) and groaned when it was soon revealed to have not happened... it was the happiest I felt watching the movie.
There's two plot holes that come to my mind every so often I think of The Emoji Movie:
- Jailbreak said girl emojis could only be princesses and dancers and such (which is now pretty dang outdated thanks to updates adding vampires, heroes, elves, and others that are both men and women) but Smiler said she was one of the first emoji and no one bats an eye that she's a girl. Did she find a loophole or something? We'll never know.
- How the whole emoji system works when it comes to the children of them. Do they just retire and their child takes their place? If so, why isn't Sir Patrick Stewart's kid in the studio? Is he too young?
Those children are gonna grow up and say "I can't believe I liked this movie." Well, given how people like The Cat in the Hat...
Swayzak2002 says that those children also watched Countdown (a Toonami TIE also from 2017) and probably bought the lie that "alien intelligence" made Sara evil instead of lightning. Swayzak2002 advises me not to watch it, so I haven't seen it.
