As a Filipino (and especially someone who has family in Cebu), I'm glad Mike gave a shoutout to lechon. All of the foods Mike liked in this video made me hungry as hell.

When I was a little girl, my grandmother would make a huge Christmas feast for the entire family and that included me and my 2 brothers and my parents- and her 9 other kids and spouses with families as well- HUGE.
She worked as a meat packer at the grocery store my whole life and she’d pick out the best hams for our dinner. She baked them to perfection- and we are talking back when pork wasn’t spirled and sugar poured on top and precooked hams- but thick fatty skinned hams with juicy meat baked to perfection.
She had a back bedroom we grandkids called the playroom and that’s where she had the hams setup on a table cooling.
I will never ever forget peeling off piece after piece of that crisp ham skin and whatever pieces of meat pulled off with it and munching it down. IT WAS HEAVENLY!!! When it was time to eat and I could get a nice slice and put on a roll or biscuit, it just never was the same as those stolen bits of precious 🐷

A5 wagyu from japan is definitely on my top food list too. 😍 I remember the first time I tried A5 wagyu in japan, I was literally taken to another planet. The meat literally melts in your mouth, man, thinking about it makes me crave for it so badly 😭
Mikey: I just about died when you said your family had a restaurant in Quincy, Il. I grew up in Hamilton (about 30 minutes north of Quincy) and we used to eat at a Chinese restaurant there. I'm trying to remember the name and location. I now live in Seattle and enjoy your trip videos as well as the food videos. I hope to run into you some time at a restaurant in the International District!
How's living in Seattle this days? Was looking to move there.
I honestly had the same reaction.. Born and raised in Quincy, IL and I've been to the restaurant a few times and it was always hit or miss for me. The location has closed and reopened with many different names over the years, but currently it is closed.
Gregg H.: Despite the protests and COVID-19, I still like it here. I’ve lived in Santa Fe and Los Angeles prior to moving to Seattle. I’d pick Seattle over them. Traffic and homeless issues continues to take its toll. We have a progressive mayor and city council working to solve these issues along with the racial issues. Housing is expensive unless you live in the boonies. My recommendation is to research the area, visit in the summer and in the winter months to get an idea of the weather. Despite my complaints, I’ll stay here rather than move somewhere less expensive. Good luck!

No. Wo gok is taro deep fried in a similar manner. Outer surface of wu gok is flaky, almost shredded like in appearance.

I've had Homestyle's dim sum, I really love their stuff! Also for the brain soup in Taiwan, a lot of Taiwanese people don't like it themselves (including myself and some of my family members), so you're not the only one lol 😂 seeing you talk about Jing Fun (金鋒滷肉飯) makes me miss it so much, whenever I go back to Taipei to visit family (I'm actually from Tainan but I live in Seattle now) I have to get the braised pork over rice from Jing Fun.

Wow I've seen most of the episodes he talked about those were the exact places that stood out in my memory of favorite places he went. There was also this place that let you bring your own groceries from the shops in the area and they cook it for you--- that place really stuck with me for some reason too xD

SUSHI WATARU in Seattle was life changing for me! 2nd best meal of my life other than wagyu in japan. I know sashimi isn’t your favorite, but Chef Kotaro making sushi is watching an artist. You need to do the omakase. It’s a 2 hour experience you won’t forget.

Your comment about the pork sandwich and other vloggers is right on.. I used to use vlogs as a way of choosing places I should eat at when traveling. However, after several disappointing meals in various countries (ex. Turkey, S Korea, etc.) I stopped relying on these videos. As annoying as it is, I definitely understand it from the vlogger's POV as well since they can destroy a person's livelihood by negatively criticizing the food.
Mickey, your video's made me try so much more food. I'm in love with pork/prawns crispy wontons. I liked wonton soup already. Tried several dim sums, but some are to my liking, while others give me the goosebumps.
The crispy pork is hard to get good one.

And I love hot pot. Had Chinese cleaners (students) and they made it at my house with boyfriends. Great winter dish.

The Dad Joke is growing stronger in you as you are stuck at home more. So, the first time I ever had Pho was in Beaverton Oregon, at a restaurant named "Pho King Good Food" ... the state business licensing agency does not officially recognize that "Pho"" is pronounced "Fuh." It was a revelation -- sure, it was beef, but it wasn't thick and greasy, and the ginger and cinnamon and onion that the bones were roasted with, plus the Thai Basil and the single shot of fish sauce, and then the completely amazing roasted pepper and garlic hot oil ... perfect. Except you also need the bright red sambal oelek for the tripe, because it needs the brightness. Amaziing experience.
