Ironically I prefer the debut album for almost every band, it's weird how like most bands 1st album is always their best and then the bands just get really bad and never put out good music again. Just a pattern i've noticed the 1st album is always the best for many bands... I'll give an example like smashing pumpkins - gish album was really good but I didn't like a single album of theirs after gish
The lead singer, Brad Delp, did pass away. Suicide by depression. He actually did all the harmonizing and backing vocals on their recordings. This is actually the studio version played to a concert video. All these vocals are Delp.........cheers.......
I am from Massachusetts originally, then moved to Kansas, now Alaska. I was working on the northwest coast of Alaska one winter when I heard about Brad. Instantly thought about Sylvia Plath. Having suffered from depression and suicidality all my life, I just feel this music so much.
You are correct. Brad was the only vocalist in the studio recordings because he felt he could harmonize best with himself. Except for one particular live show, the '87 Texas Jam, where he used backup vocals. I know this because I was, fortunately, one of them. 😊
Brad Delp is the only vocalist you hear. Multitracked, of course. He was asked one time why they chose for him to be the only vocalist and he replied, "Who better to harmonize with than yourself?" Brad took his life the same day my 99 year old grandma died. As a vocalist myself, who has studied Brad's techniques, nuances and phonetics for many years, I found myself crying and grieving for both.
Oh yes they are awesome in concert! I was born in 61 and I have grown up with THE BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD! I'm almost 63 years old and at my home or out driving my car CLASSIC ROCK IS ALWAYS CRANKED UP LOUD!
Wherever you found a muscle car with a couple of guys in it, late 70s, you would find this cassette. This was a great cruising album back in the day. Cruising around was the national pastime in the 70s. Boston was the sound of the late 70s.
'70 Mustang here. Gas was $.48, Mine was an 8-Track. Had a case that fit 10 8-track tapes. Also included were Foreinger first album, Areosmith "Rocks", Led Zep "Physical Grafitti", Frampton "Frampton Comes Alive", Robin Trower "Bridge of Sighs", Jethro Tull "The Best of Jethro Tull M.U." , Rush "2112", Springsteen "Born to Run", Pink Floyd "Darkside of the Moon".
Yep, fact. I got my Boston fever after hearing my brothers 45 records, I was hooked. Fast forward to mid 80s & I had a 72 Barracuda cruisin the strip on Friday and Saturday nights...with Boston, Kansas, Styx, ELO, Van Halen, Skynyrd, The Who....blasting out of the cassette deck!! 🤟😎
Took to my 36 year old niece to see her first classic rock band Foreigner back in August & her & her 40 year old friend said it was THE GREATEST CONCERT they’ve EVER gone to!! Pure fire!! 🎶🎶🎶🥰
The voice of Boston! There will never be another Brad Delp! .. RIP brother! A friend of mine was the bass player for them in the late 80's.. They just weren't the same after Brads sudden departure.. Their music was the best to throw into the 8-track tape player and drive to, when taking a road trip.. Now you need to react to "Peace Of Mind"
"Foreplay/LongTime" is their best in my opinion. I saw them in the 70's, they were one of my favorite groups. They were on fire. Brad Delp is no longer with us, the end of his life was tragic. Groups of the 70's had to have real talent to be successful, and did, so live performances were just as good. No autotune.
DUDE! You HAVE to experience a concert! They say that people are their happiest (at their highest vibration) at a concert of a band they love! I just turned 60 (I would've been 12 or 13 back during the Boston years), and I haven't been to a ton of concerts, but I'll never forget the ones I have been to and what an uplifting, awesome experience each one was. Love your reactions!
I was 14 and Boston was the first concert I ever attended. My mind was blown!! They were incredible. Finally inducted to the Rock Hall Of Fame in 2018.
There wasn't a single household or car that didn't have this album back then and likely untold numbers of siblings in those homes fighting over it. It was ubiquitous. I can't imagine a better soundtrack to grow up to.
There is also great mini documentary about how Boston was formed, and it is not predictable. Look up Tom Sholz, not only for forming Boston but all the technology he developed for music.
This was the early days of making videos so usually I think what they would do is they would just play the album version for the audio and then in the video they would either just use concert footage or they would just lip-synch. Boston is a great band!
I’m a concert queen from way back. Boston by far is my favorite concert. I know every song word for word and they put on a great show with confetti bombs and lasers and pyrotechnics. But under all the flash is the best music, best vocals and best showmanship. I’ve been to the concerts, front rows. This is all talent. No background tracks, no dubbed in vocals, no electronic enhancement. Any song from that first album is a hit. Only album that is one incredible song after the other. Not one stinker. Not even close. Boston, Aerosmith, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, original Journey. Best concerts. You missed them, I think only Springsteen still tours. And if you have the opportunity to see Springsteen, go! Even in his 70s, he will rock your world. Brad Delp should never have died. We as humans must pay more attention to mental health. RIP Brad, I wish you knew in life how much you were loved. RIP Sib, miss your heartbeat.
As all the vocals are incredibly made by Brad Delp , all the music, production, compositions and engeeniring was made by lead guitarist Tom Scholz, the genius!! He created the unique Boston sound and with Delp voice they became real legends. Scholz got a Suma Cunlaude degree at MIT before creating this music in his basement. One fo my favourite groups.
I LOVE BOSTON, we listened to them while cruising the neighborhood. I'm 61 and its unfortunate I never saw them in concert. Keep 'em comin', I love that you love the baby boomers era of music!!❤
Boston Rocks With Fire! 🔥🔥🔥 You HAVE to get to one of these vintage Rock Concerts while they are still playing!! Many of these bands celebrated their 50th annivetsaries last year and are ending their live tours. I saw Kansas last year and they killed it for over 2 hours with 3 original members to a sold out venue!!! Stop everything and take your wife to a Rock Concert ASAP.!!!! Enjoy! 🙃🤘🤘🤘🤘 🔊🎸🥁🎹🎶🎙
Feel good power rock at its best. Nothing too complicated or challenging, solid lyrics, great harmonies, fantastic singing, captures the joyful and exuberant spirit of rock that defines it at its core. Everyone liked them when they came out with their massive debut album, and for a brief time they were the greatest rock band in the world.
My spouse absolutely LOVED Boston...And THIS was the MOST LOVED...To the point that I was ask to make a promise to them that if they were to pass away before me...Unfortunately,they did indeed pass away 1 yr ago this month...and I made sure that the promise I made to them was upheld to the fullest..The promise was that once the services were over, that I set a recorder, boombox whatever, and play THIS EXACT SONG...A part of the promise was that once I pressed play,I was to walk away and just let it play... The funeral services were beautiful, what parts I'm able to remember...But honestly, pressing play and hearing this song play in the distance of where I was standing, was one of the most memorable moments but also one of the harder moments of the whole day...I think it was because it dawned on me,that by pressing play and walking away,I had fulfilled my last promise to the love of my life...😢😢💔😟
I'm blessed to have seen Boston in concert. They sound as clean and clear on stage as they do in studio recordings. A friend and I were sitting in the 4th row, center stage, at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Southern California. They were, as you say, dirty! Tom Scholz is a musical mastermind. A rock concert I'll never forget. Foreplay/Longtime would be a great next reaction!
If you want a song that will blow your mind, you really need to listen to Boston's "foreplay/long time" It's incredible. Possibly my favorite classic rock song of all.
I saw Boston play back in the mid 1980's prior to the passing of Brad the singer. They sounded great, they sounded just like their record. The leader Tom is a genius, look him up.
The audio is a shortened studio version with crowd noise added. Then this was all laid over live video footage. It's too bad you only heard the shortened version, as there was some good stuff cut out of it.
I can't get enough of this band. The first two albums are phenomenal. Every single tune third album is pretty damn good too. I saw them on tour for the third album three times in a one week period...
This song saved my life. In college, there was a time depression had me ready to to end it, when this song came on. It was the first time I ever listened to the lyrics. Very uplifting song.
This was chosen my HS class song back in 1986. I wanted “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” Motley Crue. (Fit me more.) lol So, BP, don’t even say YOU’RE feeling old. Lol
My uncle introduced me to Boston in the 70's. Of my friend's, I had the only muscle car in 85/86, Boston was a staple in my vehicle. I introduced a lot of music to them.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert and they sounded as good as the studio versions. Pure talent. I wore that RECORD out. LOL. Yes I am dating myself but I grew up with the best music!

I always loved Boston growing up. They have such a bright sound. I love it! They just make you feel good. Another one to be checking out is foreigner. That’s another band from around the same era that was amazing

Welcome to our childhood
Amen!! Loving living it again thru Pegasus’ ears 🇨🇦🖖🏻
This was in everyone’s childhood born after the 70’s
@@johncarpenter3751 not for the 80s babies. They weren't born yet
And what a childhood we had!
@@allenruss2976 um you forget that 80’s babies had radios growing up so they definitely got to listen too 😂
It is widely believed that Boston released the greatest debut album of all time.
Im a believer
Hard to compete with Led Zep I, but yeah, definitely up there.
@@kovie9162 Those are definitely the top 2

The Cars debut is way up on my favorite 1st releases.
Foreplay/Longtime is an incredible track, it’s absolutely worth a listen.
Yes! The two tracks lead into each other, so they need to be played together 👍💐
Yes, surprised this song went ahead of Foreplay/Longtime ....I vote in top 5 rock songs of all time.
Yessss!!
One of the best!
Their anthem is one of the best songs ever
FOREPLAY/Longtime! you will never be the same
The lead singer, Brad Delp, did pass away. Suicide by depression. He actually did all the harmonizing and backing vocals on their recordings. This is actually the studio version played to a concert video. All these vocals are Delp.........cheers.......

Their debut album doesn't have a bad song on it, the entire album is fire.
Foreplay/Longtime is a MUST SEE for any Boston fan.
Brad Delp is the only vocalist you hear. Multitracked, of course. He was asked one time why they chose for him to be the only vocalist and he replied, "Who better to harmonize with than yourself?"
Brad took his life the same day my 99 year old grandma died. As a vocalist myself, who has studied Brad's techniques, nuances and phonetics for many years, I found myself crying and grieving for both.

YES!!
Foreplay/ Long Time is an experience!
Fun Fact: The drummer for Boston loved Steely Dan so much that he named his daughter Aja.
who married Dwayne Johnson
Sib hasian daughter Lauren is married to the rock✌️
A friend of mine almost got away with naming his daughter Selina Kyle until his wife googled it.

I believe 70s had the best music in all genre.
Couldn’t agree more!!
There will never be as great of a line up of iconic groups, concerts, and pure musical giants as we had back in the 70s and 80s.
❤❤❤ I love Boston RIP Brad😢
"Foreplay/Long Time", "Smokin'", and "Hitch a Ride" next! 🔥🔥🔥
This whole album is fantastic!! No bad songs 🖖🏻🇨🇦
Favorite album of all time! EVERY song is FIRE!
Don't you love seeing a band having so much fun together!
Brad was one of the most outstanding vocalists in 50 years. Such a talent and such a tragedy.
You will Love Foreplay Longtime. Another incredible song by Boston.

Yes Boston harmonizing is extremely underrated..... There harmonies are so good you don't know they're harmonizing sometimes.

This song takes me back. Muscle cars, skinny teenagers, on the beach in Santa Cruz, I can smell the cocoa butter and taste the ice cold Tab.
Both of Boston's first 2 albums are good from start to finish. All good songs.

Loving the variety recently….wouldnt know where to start searching things, just tooooooo many….. so this is just perfect….❤️🔥🫶🏻🏴

Rock and Roll Band is a MUST!
Boston was great in concert. I had the privilege of seeing them in Detroit in the mid1980’s.
They were totally professional and super-talented. Their music makes me happy. I saw them live, they ARE that good!
I'm blessed to have seen Boston in concert. They sound as clean and clear on stage as they do in studio recordings. Foreplay/Longtime would be a great next reaction!
Boston..... one of the GREATEST Rock n Roll bands of all time
I’m a 90s kid but I grew up listening to these guys and they’re one of my favorite classic rock bands along with blue oyster cult and the guess who.
If you want a song that will blow your mind, you really need to listen to Boston's "foreplay/long time" It's incredible. Possibly my favorite classic rock song of all.
Ahh the 70’s stash🤣
My ABSOLUTE favorite Boston tune!!!
I saw Boston play back in the mid 1980's prior to the passing of Brad the singer. They sounded great, they sounded just like their record. The leader Tom is a genius, look him up.
I loved being a kid back then❤
Foreplay/Longtime is spectacular. I played the first Bosto 8-track on a constant loop every day when in high school.
Both times I saw them, they sounded this good. Thank you for taking the time to react to them. Boston was my first rock album purchase.
The audio is a shortened studio version with crowd noise added. Then this was all laid over live video footage.
It's too bad you only heard the shortened version, as there was some good stuff cut out of it.
'70s Music is the pinnacle of rock music. NOTHING better. EVER.
Another Great Pick. Our childhood was amazing and fun...😂😊😊🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
I can't get enough of this band. The first two albums are phenomenal. Every single tune third album is pretty damn good too. I saw them on tour for the third album three times in a one week period...
You will not regret going to a country concert. They are just good vibes and good times. Everyone there for the same goal.
This song saved my life. In college, there was a time depression had me ready to to end it, when this song came on. It was the first time I ever listened to the lyrics. Very uplifting song.
Tom Scholz was the mastermind behind the sound of the band. Definitely a top rock band of the 70's.
i absolutely LOVE Boston! their debut album never leaves my playlist.
Boston is 🔥🔥💃🏻💃🏻
Saw Boston, Kansas, and Blue Oyster Cult in concert 4 or 5 years ago. They gave 5 hours of absolute amazing music even in their 60s and 70s.
This was chosen my HS class song back in 1986. I wanted “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” Motley Crue. (Fit me more.) lol
So, BP, don’t even say YOU’RE feeling old. Lol
70s were the best years for music! 😊
Still listening to Boston everyday in my car
My uncle introduced me to Boston in the 70's. Of my friend's, I had the only muscle car in 85/86, Boston was a staple in my vehicle. I introduced a lot of music to them.
A phenomenal performance!
I was lucky enough to see them in concert and they sounded as good as the studio versions. Pure talent. I wore that RECORD out. LOL. Yes I am dating myself but I grew up with the best music!
This was one of my top 5 eight track tapes I would listen to in my car in high school.
I am 62 and still listen to their first album on my turntable.
Saw them on the this tour!
Sammy Hagar opened for them.
Try Rock and Roll Band or Smokin’ (yes it means what it means) lol
Boston’s first album is one of the top 3 debut albums of all time. Every song is amazing. Do an album reaction. You won’t go wrong.
Boston Live is essentially studio!!!
The lead guitarist, Tom Schultz, went to MIT and created the sound his guitar makes and is unique.
When I was a kid in school the boys were drawing Boston album covers, and the girls were in love with Barry Manilow. lol. A million years ago.
I’m 72 and still enjoy what your doing
I always loved Boston growing up. They have such a bright sound. I love it! They just make you feel good. Another one to be checking out is foreigner. That’s another band from around the same era that was amazing
Boston has mad bangers, but u must do Foreplay/Longtime! 😁
One of my favorites. Awww to be a teenager in the 70's! We had the best music ever. I'm 62 still listening to Boston and many others!!
This song is why i learnd to play guitar
Boston headlined the first concert I ever went to, way back in May of 79.
