I was disappointed when I started watching this video, because I’ve never liked packing tape or gel medium transfers. I just don’t want to use others’ photos or magazine pages in my work. But, holy cow, you shocked me-I *love* the idea of using your kind of transfer as a base for multiple layer of gelli printing/stamping. You have opened up another new area of ‘arting’ for me.
Looking through some of the rolodex videos to familiarize myself with some techniques and colors that go well together- came across this video. Very excited to know you can also use a brush to paint on the gelli plate and create pulls with that- or the photo like you suggested!!
Oh this definitely needs to be attempted! Gotta get me some sumi ink and practice your scripting techniques! That is a stunning result! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and techniques. I am a new subby and I think you are great!
Love💕💕 watching the techniques in this video..My son showed me how to pull it up on the 55 inch tv..it was so clear and looks so good!!! Woohoo💃💃..Now I can watch and gelli plate along just like my own private studio session with you..😂😂 Thanks for sharing such cool techniques😘🤗🤗..oh ps I am going to finally ordered the printer..it is at such a good price😀
Fabulous video :D I love watching you're process when you're working! Very inspiring :D I just got myself and rolodex and can't wait to gelli print some cards! xxx
Love this Robyn! I got my 2nd Rolodex - it is the larger cards, but not very many came with it:-( however this time I spent $9.99 vs the $1.00 on the first one with the smaller (and lots of them) cards. I've also printed some "altered" photographs I've taken onto tissue paper and used that in collage. So much fun and a great way to develop your own "library" of materials. Love Love Love!!
That's Awesome Luci, I've been on the look out for another one myself! I love working this way so want to have one waiting for when I finish this one :) Yes I do agree that it's a wonderful to keep various techniques in view!
Yummy! Love whatever you used to make the marks (the honeycomb type thing). If you could share what it was, it would be nice to keep my eyes open for something along those lines. One of these days I'll quit collecting and actually start printing. LOL
Lol....Collecting vs Creating that's always a tough one for me too, as I love to collect neat supplies :) Actually it's packing material I think from a Ikea purchase,it had a thin paper on both sides and I tore the paper off one side to expose the honeycomb substructure!
I love this process but I'm wondering what the cards are used for. are they just to have on hand for inspiration? I have just found your channel so I don't know
Maybe you could answer me.... what are these cards used for?? I love the process but I just found this channel so I don't know what they're used for are they for inspiration only?
You keep them, must like your own art journal. Or, you can share them, trade them with other artists, etc. Just got my Rolodex, actually have an extra in error!, looking for ideas to make the best little pieces of art!
I love your work so much! I share your excitement of the colours and textures you are creating. Do you have a Facebook group for people to share how they work with your inspirations?
Yes Brigitte, It's "Clarity Thru Color" request to join and I'll approve it :) Also We have a Pinterest boards that's a lot of fun "Gelli Printing Lovers!" and "Book as Art aka Gellidex" boards on Pinterest! My Pinterest acct: www.pinterest.com/boluxejewel...
I am loving these techniques! I bought the ink and brush set you recommended previously and am now looking for a finer brush for calligraphy. I think you said you had one custom made for you and it was very expensive. If want to buy a finer brush for calligraphy, is there one you recommend? Or what type of hair? Thank you in advance for your help!!!
Hi Leslie I'm thrilled that you're enjoying this project and that you too are inspired by the "intuitive scripting" Good substitution is a good quality water color brush like I used in this session which is a Grumbacher goldenedge 4620 round however anything similar will work it's important for it to be a natural bristle. Here's a link for it Grumbacher Goldenedge Golden Toray Round Watercolor Brush, Synthetic Bristles, Size 6 (4620.6) amzn.to/2Hrc4H2 I really like it and it will produce smaller more controlled letter like I demonstrated :)
@@RobynMcClendon thank you! I am doing a variation on your rollodex, using playing card-size card stock I had in my stash from my old ATC days. I punched a hole in the corner of each card and linked them together with a ring binder. Instant book! Another question... When you are working on a book like this, do you you have text or a theme in mind? I have found my book is going in sort of a travel/discovery direction and I am think of it going as a sort of fantasy diary. Do you have something in mind for your rolodex book, or are you going to decide when you are all done?
@@leslierosenberg2496 What a great idea using what you already have and adapting, brilliant! Yes I have a loose theme right now around the sacred feminine, I'm going back over my writings and poetry to see which one really speaks to me as I continue gelli printing and collaging, Thx for asking! :)
@@RobynMcClendon I just ordered the brush. Thank you for responding so quickly!!! I love to play with art and supplies and love the unexpected, but my nature is a planner (a Virgo) and I tend to need to know where I am headed. Lol. Thanks for being my guide into the unknown!
@@leslierosenberg2496 Oh great, I'm glad you grab it up you'll like it and it's a great substitute to more expensive ones. And I totally understand the need to know where your going and have detailed plans my oldest is a Scorpio and she trained me when she was just a little girl on her need to know what our plans were for the day! Meanwhile the adventurous Taurian that I am, likes to set out and explore and not worry about where I end up...lol So I've learned over the years to embrace both and I know she has made me a better person for it :)
Fantastic ideas. Robyn. Thank you

Yaayyyyy Where did you find it?
I got it on eBay, it was £35 which is a bit pricey, but it came with 1000 cards! And the others I'd seen only had 200 so I went for it :D xxx
@@christinesmith6910 Perfect! I paid a good bit for mine as well but I liked the color so I went for it too! 1000 cards that's fantastic :)
