I have always liked how clean and uncluttered Les Baer pistols are. Seeing how that one doesn’t have any slide markings, I don’t know if I like it as much with slide markings. I’ve sold more than a few pistols on the Pistol Forum, and only one guy was hesitant. I looked him up, and he is a teacher and high school football coach. You just can’t beat the classic style and 100% hand made hard fit finesse of a les Baer. Especially for the price.

Looks like an awesome 1911. I have one minor nitpick that catches my eye however. I wish the forward cocking serrations would have stopped even with the dust cover, would have made for much cleaner look. Other than me being super picky I thinks it's just great! Thanks for all your hard work on these reviews.

I know you gentlemen like Wilson magazines. I was reading they tend to feed from a position higher in front of the chamber than other brands of magazines. I read this makes them bypass to one extent or another the controlled feed nature of the 1911. Also, the Wilson mags have parallel feed lips. The mags I prefer have hybrid feed lips, the proponents of which claim are best for a wide variety of bullet profiles. I guess the hybrid feed lips hold the round longer before letting it go into the chamber.
That heavy weight looks nice but why wouldn’t they just put a rail on it? Wouldn’t that do the same thing and also give you more options?

You can indeed get one with a rail if you want lol. They also make an extra heavyweight version where the dust cover is that thick but is full length all the way to the end of the slide. Forget what it’s called.
for 1911's you have to weigh in your decision based comfort vs roughness, pretty vs ugly, low cost vs high cost and what you gain or lose buy paying for lower cost 1911 vs a higher cost 1911, so all them variables to consider, some like to meet the variables of what i mentioned in the middle for a good balance and others go for all the bells and whistles or the Walmart bargain bin so lots of choices to consider and weigh what is most important to you
I would take the Les Baer over Wilson any day jmoh
I'd always heard that Les Bear can't compare to Nighthawk or Wilson Combat in any way.
I'd shot custom 1911s of those 3 brands as well as an Ed Brown at the same time. The Les Bear (SuperTac) was more accurate and felt on par as for quality in every way.
Hi Casey, I agree with you completely. I own all of them and they are all very cool for sure. I consider the Les Baer, Wilson Combat, and Nighthawk All to be about Equal. They are all at the very Top, I like to compare them to a New Ferrari, but in the Gun world. I do not own any Ed Brown 1911s….. Maybe some day. I Love My Super Tac from Baer! Stay Safe Casey.

@@BERETTA9mmUSA from what I've experienced over the years, there are some differences that seperate NightHawk and Wilson Combat from Les Baer like just how well certain components are blended together such as magwells for example.
Though by personal preference I preferred the tight lock up of Les Baer to the "on ball bearings" feeling for slide of the Wilson Combat.
Qualitatively speaking, how much better are the Les Baer 1911s than the Springfield Garrison and whatever is the least expensive Colt 1911 these days?
Twice as good or better per us, but that does not mean the Springfield and Colts are bad at all. I now have the Operator, Emissary, and Garrison and they are all Excellent for what they Cost. Are they a Les Baer or Wilson, or Nighthawk…… no, but they stand as a good Quality 1911 for all the folks who want to spend $1,000 (Operator), $1,200 (Emissary) or $800 (Garrison) and most Colt 1911s fall into these prices too. I am using my Emissary as my EDC for the last 30 days and I Dig it. 🤠👮🏻♂️👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. B9USA Sr.
