For me personally, Latin is primarily the language used in medieval Europe by educated people in their correspondence and writing scientific works. My goal is to learn enough Latin to read Newton's "Principia Mathematica" and not only understand the language but all the concepts of the book as well.

That goal resonates with me! Thank you for letting me know that you share my preference for Latin as it matures.

As for Latin, you make a good point. For me at the moment the Vulgate Bible translation fits the definition of Krashen's x+1 of (mainly) comprehensible input.
My opinion is that you need enjoyable and interesting comprehensible input and it doesn't matter what it is.
A standard technique with ancient languages is a technical and conscious decoding of the language. Such close study has its place, but not in the learning phase.
For me the Vulgate is at the edge but is enjoyable but there may be other texts out there.

What you mentioned about people sadly limiting themselves to particular period of Latin literature rang true to me, but particularly with respect to music. So often people are hesitant to explore new genres and different forms of musical expression. My father is a classical musician but grew up in the prog rock era (King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull etc.), so I suppose his open-mindedness rubbed off. But appreciation of musical variety seems scandalously rare nowadays.

Thanks for pointing out the parallels to musical taste? I suppose narrowing of horizons is unfortunately a natural tendency, but in academia, it has been institutionalized!

It would be great if you could post a video of one or more of actual sessions of your academy. It will give a taste of what the academy is .

Thank you for the suggestion, but not everyone wants to be videoed. However, anyone who is interested in joining the academy is welcome to attend a guest session before signing up.

It can be quite challenging to learn the different stages of a language's evolution. I struggled to find medieval Greek language learning resources as there is a clear preference for ancient Greek and biblical or koine Greek.

I've been unable to find resources for Medieval Greek too, but I've only looked in English and French. Perhaps something exists in German or Modern Greek.

I believe I have a bilingual Byzantine-English medieval novel on my shelf - maybe you can see the author and title if you stop the library tour video on that section.
