      You can do that but then someone would ask a smarter question. "Why is it good?" If you can't answer then you'll look kinda dumb, if you avoid the question you'll be under sus, and only if you can actually explain it will you look brilliant.

  • @solfeinberg437
    @solfeinberg437 3 роки тому

    The commentators are so general in their description of this game. I'm sure commenting live is difficult. But maybe there are some themes or threats they could illluminate? I feel like they're not serious chess players themselves. Much more fun would be to hear Magnus or Ding or another GM discuss the game afterwards. But showing some lines. Not saying I could do much better.

    • @saulbragman3145
      @saulbragman3145 2 роки тому +1

      The reason it feels very general to you is that this is essentially the commentary aimed for beginners or people not as strong with talking through lots of notation. If you want far more complex analysis, I'd definitely recommend (for the upcoming rapid tournament) to try the other channels where you'll have access to different commentators that suit your skill level :)

    I don't understand that concept of 6...what does it mean , mate in 6?

    • @Silvergrooves42
      @Silvergrooves42 3 роки тому +3

      If white finds the right moves, he will mate with his 6th move (the next move he plays counts as the first one). Typically if black doesn't play the right moves to prolong the game as much as possible (to make the game longer) white will mate sooner than his 6th move, but no matter what black can't stop the mate if white plays the right moves.

  • @suthobay

    0:11 What's the point of putting the bishop there on b5 if you don't take the Knight? I always see Magnus move the bishop away. Is it to force the pawn to A6?

    • @Will-zq1os
      @Will-zq1os 3 роки тому +1

      It depends on what you want to do, or what you don't want your opponent to do. If magnus took the knight it could open a free diagonal for ding after he took the night with the bishop, and other things to...

    • @beejay7123
      @beejay7123 3 роки тому

      I am no master but what I think is.
      If white takes knight straight away it just opens up blacks diagonal. No momuntem lost.
      White moving bishop to A4 means if black moves D pawn, the knight is pinned. If white then takes the knight black would be forced the take with B pawn creating double pawn loosing a bit of momuntem

    • @hoon_sol
      @hoon_sol 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, that's exactly right, it's to get black to first commit to playing ...a6, and then by retreating the bishop along the same diagonal you keep the bishop eyeing the knight and king, so black has to play ...b5 as well in order to get the bishop away. This way you've gotten black to commit to a specific pawn structure, against which you can prepare many different ideas (as a super-GM and the world's strongest chess player by far, Magnus obviously knows a ton of different ways to treat this).

    • @hoon_sol
      @hoon_sol 3 роки тому +4

      And Jovanka is also rated over 2400. I think the commentary is absolutely excellent, they are not just giving their thoughts about the positions based on top-level understanding of chess, but also making it easier for people who haven't played that much chess to tag along. People complaining that they are not able to predict the moves of super-GMs are downright retarded; that's the very reason Magnus and Ding are super-GMs: they are able to find moves that even other high-level GMs and IMs aren't able to find.

    This format is terrible, increase the size of the board so the chess is clear (you can zoom in on one of the players if they do something exciting, like pick their nose), get the commentators to use coordinates, they are right there on the board for the people watching even if they are not immediately familiar with them. I get that the commentators are trying to make it friendly to new watchers, but they can surely pick it up from this effort.
