The beauty of chess is it can be whatever you want it to be. It transcends language, age, race, religion, politics, gender, and socioeconomic background. Whatever your circumstances, anyone can enjoy a good fight to the death over the chess board.
At 1:28:13, after flagging his opponent, Magnus says, in slightly different words, what Marlo from The Wire says: "You want it to be one way...but it's the other way."
I tend to agree as great moves for 90% of the game but when he has to speed up, his play deteriorates, probably due to the difficulty of engines making ultra-quick calculations, net speed and he then has to take over the play. Laurence is a good player and he may be playing honestly. That happens a lot with Magnus and players playing way above their real rating. He never directly accuses players of cheating but he makes cryptic comments such as "they were playing very, very well, that's for sure and well above their apparent rating." The only way to ensure fair play is OTB. There were a couple of incidents of the use of transmitters and outside assistance. Before 1970 it was hardly ever a problem.

Fun chess fact: the game is a microcosmic representation of a feudal estate alotment with signifying squares as plots of land.
