I liked the video how it explained. I've been spending my time sitting down and doing computer-based tasks for hours. It is really bad for our health. The world is driving us to more passive life. For instance, in the past when someone wanted to get a food, they would just go to the shop, walk around a bit, buy the food and return. However, in today's world, the technological advancements allow us to order food from home via our phones. Another example is that kids before the invention of cellphones, used to play outside games, hangout with friends to ride a bicycle and etc. Sadly, today's generation is in a period that they would not even want to go out to play physically due to the availability of smartphones and the internet. All in all, it was a great video with illustrations and thank you for reminding me to sit properly and walk around a bit.
Last year I bought a desk with electrically adjustable height to be able to switch between standing and sitting regularly during the day. In december I also bought a small foldable walking pad which I can place below the desk and walk while working. With just 2kph it's still pretty easy to work and I usually use it once in the morning and once in the afternoon for around an hour each, which enables me to walk 4 kilometres and 8000 steps each day while working. Definitely my best investment for office equipment! I can highly recommend it to anyone who is bound to a desk while working.
I see this is also powered. How is it different to a treadmill? Just smaller or something? Is there a non-powered fully mechanical one? Like a hamster wheel or something.
I was so gutted that I only found out about this last month. This is one of those things where, if you exercise regularly, you're lured into the false sense of security by thinking your health is fine, but that alone can't counteract hours of pressure on your spine, vital organs, etc. You HAVE to MOVE. I will share that, after just one week of cutting back my sedentary hours to less than four a day, my poor circulation has improved dramatically, I've lost nine pounds in a month and an inch of my waist (excellent when you're 40! I'm telling you), and I have no back pain any more. 🙂
Standing is much worse at least for me than sittings. Walking is the best option but I haven't figured out how to do that in open office with whole computer + monitor set up.
I occasionally jump around when I get excited. If only a little, then I stand with feet walking in the same spot. This holds especially true when I'm doing group projects as I have to leave my seat. I guess that's why I feel healthier in school?
As a teacher, I was rarely sitting down but now we do all the lessons online and I'm literally sitting down the whole day and I can feel how it affects my brain power and concentration.
Prophet Mohammad said “There are 360 joints and each of them owes sadaqa every single day. Every good word is sadaqa. A man's helping his brother is sadaqa. A drink of water which he gives is sadaqa. Removing something harmful from the road is sadaqa." 0:54
Everyday from 12:00am to 8:00 I sleep which is basically laying down. School starts at 8:45 so I have to run around for about 20 minutes, and that's about as much exercise I get everyday. I spend 6 hours and 23 minutes at school, which means at most 5 minutes moving between classes. Then I either go home by car or by train. 10 minutes of sitting/standing. Then I spend about 2 hours doing homework and revising. Oh yeah, lets not forget about those tests I have in 3 weeks. Another hour for each subject. At the end of the day, I get less than 1 hour of exercise everyday and only 6-8 hours of sleep. Not very ideal for a middle school student.

The overlap of the vertebrae transforms the spine into an active tower, whose stability must be achieved with dynamic anchors. A rigid seat does not give the legs the role of dynamic anchors and when you get tired, the back looks for support points and collapses in the backrest.
I guess my school is doing the right thing because, yes we sit for one hour but then after the hour is up we have to walk a mile to the next class and for each subject it never stays in the same room! It's tiring but I guess I have to appreciate it X3
redarrowhead2 How do I slee....Crap.were doomed wait I'll stay awake!Crap they made a video about sleep...But this video don't sit/lay down(sleep) and they said go to sleep in a other video! Well these people are
The usual posture of lying down in bed should be better when you're stationary, and lying down can be a good way to sleep. Your body also uses sleep to repair itself, so lying down isn't as bad.
Be careful, sitting is the whole reason I've had problems with my back. I'm a student, I'm young, fit and healthy, and I slipped a disc in my spine from sitting too much whilst studying last year, and ever since I've been in pain nearly every day. I was incapacitated for weeks, and since then I've had to spend hundred of $$$ on seeing my physiotherapist, a lot of time doing strengthening exercises and swimming, and minimizing my time sitting. As a result I've had to completely change my life style and the way I spend time. As I type this I'm laying on my yoga mat at home, keeping my spine in good posture and taking the weight off it. Its getting better though, finally. It is WORTH it to take breaks from sitting. It got to the point for me where I would have to sit up the back of class and stand up because I would be in so much pain.
I think this video is misleading. Standing for long periods is also bad for you. It makes your feet swell and reduces circulation. Sleeping in the same position is also bad for you because it puts extended pressure on certain nerves. It is not a particular position that is bad. It is being in that position for too long. You don't have to increase your exercise or change your life. Just change positions every once in a while. Get up and stretch. Pace. Get a snack. Go to the bathroom. Do yoga. Keep your body flexible and fully utilize your body's complete range of motion.
The worst job I ever had was as a casheer. I would stand for more than 6 hours without break or movement. That has caused me feetpain, circulatory problems, severe backpain and even a broken tailbone(cause my muscles were so tense). I always thought a standing job would be more healthy cause sitting is so bad. But standing is so much worse. A job were you switch between sitting, standing and moving is best but hard to find in this industrial/capitalistic world.
In manufacturing, any job other than a line worker seems to have a good balance of sitting and walking. At least from my experience...your mileage may vary.
Whoever invented Pokemon Go should get a Nobel Prize for promoting long-term health. Even Michelle Obama did not achieve this much. I'm sure that she is envious.
I was ashamed to hear this story… I didn’t know it was so harmful to stay seated for a long time. I agreed with “bodies are built for motion, not for stillness” ,the phrase of this video. For example, on the train I sit down right away because it’s easy for me ,but I’ll try to stand as long as possible from now on.
for the health of the body keep it moving. in taking care of the mind keep it at peace. exercise and peace of mind are the key to a happy and fulfilling life

"The human body is built to move" I guess that explains why i could never stay still when I'm awake. Even when I'm laying down i turn left, turn right, move my legs and hands, move my head. Being in a same position for a long time make my body aches.
I agree, my imagination, problem solving and analytic skills are greatly aided by me pacing around. This video really opened my eyes, I need to be more active.
@King AJ Ian Caesar Rollan I did not claim that sleeping is better than standing or vise versa. My reply was to the question *"what about sleeping? It's similar to standing right?"* And the reply is still no, it's not similar. I've given the reason 👆 And he has already replied that he was kidding. Probably referring to the similarity in positions of standing erect and lying down straight.

What is the name of the company for the walking pad you got?

I was so gutted that I only found out about this last month. This is one of those things where, if you exercise regularly, you're lured into the false sense of security by thinking your health is fine, but that alone can't counteract hours of pressure on your spine, vital organs, etc. You HAVE to MOVE. I will share that, after just one week of cutting back my sedentary hours to less than four a day, my poor circulation has improved dramatically, I've lost nine pounds in a month and an inch of my waist (excellent when you're 40! I'm telling you), and I have no back pain any more. 🙂
The solution is a lot simplier: WORK STANDING!!!

A rigid seat does not give the legs the role of dynamic anchors and when you get tired, the back looks for support points and collapses in the backrest.

redarrowhead2 How do I slee....Crap.were doomed wait I'll stay awake!Crap they made a video about sleep...But this video don't sit/lay down(sleep) and they said go to sleep in a other video!
Well these people are

The usual posture of lying down in bed should be better when you're stationary, and lying down can be a good way to sleep. Your body also uses sleep to repair itself, so lying down isn't as bad.
laying down is fine.
Well as a student that's kind of a problem, I sit 6 hours in school and then another 3 preparing for the next days class
rip
I advise frequent and intense fidgeting. With luck, it will get you expelled.
Peter Cohen I'm not sure if that's what I want :)
classes don't last 6 hrs lol. They last 1-1.5 hours, with 10 min break in between. That's pretty sufficient for you.
***** Moderation is key.
I do Uber Eats. Its the best job for your health
In manufacturing, any job other than a line worker seems to have a good balance of sitting and walking. At least from my experience...your mileage may vary.
Well ive been sitting for 8 hours everyday since i was five.
Thanks education system.
Ironically you probably had to sit at a computer to animate this
Never heard of elevated desks that you have to stand at to use eh?
Well now at least with Pokemon Go...
Boi...
Whoever invented Pokemon Go should get a Nobel Prize for promoting long-term health. Even Michelle Obama did not achieve this much. I'm sure that she is envious.
But your neck muscles tho
Actually, not to support the game, since it is an augmented reality game it requires you to use your neck muscles much more to look up and down.
Lauren Sun ha, you thought
I was ashamed to hear this story…
I didn’t know it was so harmful to stay seated for a long time.
