LOVE the light fixture! And it definitely leans more feminine/softer (which is totally 'MaCenna'). I don't know why, but I was envisioning (and hoping) the kitchen to feel more masculine, with a heavier European feel as that's more Romeo's environment being the cook ;)

At 62 years old I realise that vintage furniture lasts longer and is more comfortable than modern furniture. I don't have your budget but you have inspired me to find what I can. I am lying in my sudo vintage bedroom and it is so comfortable and I love it for my budget. All thanks to you
I can second nearly everything you said. I’m 64 and disabled, too. I spend a lot of time lying on my bed or sitting in the recliner in the living room, and it’s so important to me that my home be comfortable for everyone, and also have a homey feel. I love seeing how MaCenna makes her home so beautiful mixing antiques, vintage and contemporary pieces. Take care!

Fellow spoonie from across both pond and nation nearly, I hear you about living on benefits while trying to not LIVE like the "impoverished and infirm" are MEANT: in dirty hovels and slums, bereft of anything that lies outside the barest means, because it's our fault the heavens haven't blessed us better. there’s not much i love more than opening youtube and finding a new XoMacenna upload ❤ it really does make my day! also, please enjoy the sleep now, get as much of it as you possibly can bc it’s true what they say… after kids , you never sleep the same again. my oldest is 8 and my 3rd is 1, but i swear i’ve been sleeping with one eye open for almost 9 years now. Its the mother in you that just keeps you aware even when you’re asleep. It’s the one thing i do genuinely miss about life before kids 😏 soak it up while you can💕

Okay, so hear me out: do three boxes for lighting. You can always put plates over whichever you don’t use and it gives versatility for the future. I have two places in my house with plates in the ceiling where I could install lighting if I wanted to, but I never notice the covers since they blend right in.
I was going to say the same. And if you can't find exactly what you want, you can just stick a couple of cans in for light until you find what you want, then switch it out and put plates back on wherever you don't place lights.

I agree. And would rather do more boxes than needed. So you can have all the options but not the limit of just one.
You look so radiant! And Kinsley so adorable as always, right by your side! Most precious dog anyone can ask for! That light fixture you saw at the last stop is gorgeous. I can definitely see that above your dinning table in your eat in kitchen.
Note for all women: she uses a filter. It glitches sometimes, and you can see her real skin. No one’s face is that smooth. You’re perfect the way you are!
If you really like the light and it is the right measurement, get it so you dont regret it. With the table you want, it will look amazing. If you feel like the fabric shades do not fit or you get tired of them, just change it to glass in the future. The base of the light fixture is beautiful, so it's a great feature you can build on if needed.

The cool thing about doing Reno while preggo is that the baby will be used to loud noises and fall asleep in pretty loud environments. Ask any mom how the third kid sleeps with the loud noises, usually a house of two kids is already pretty loud and the baby gets used to the noise even in the moms womb. Yeah.
Yeah there really is something to not creating a super quiet environment for your baby. They can self-sooth so much better.
kids, even the only child, usually sleep better with some sort of noises around them. And it seems logical because if it is a dead silence around you - maybe you are alone and therefore in danger.
I could get lost for a long time going through all that hardware in the first "salvage" store. That fabric shaded lighting fixture was gorgeous.🌺😀

When you shop for hardware....it is like an asmr. I get those tingles that relax me, help me slow down, and chill. The whispering, clinking of the hardware, oh jeez...so lovely spending shopping with you. Now excuse me...I'm going to bed.

That light is everything and I would get it immediately then supplement the kitchen surround with many little can lights that disappear into the ceiling and make this beauty stand out ❤
I don't want to worry you, but remember to stay aware of the lead exposure that might come from architectural salvage and vintage decor or dishes (or new dishes!). Not a critique, as I have a ton of lead in my old home, I just leave some beautiful plates for decor only. Lead is just in a lot of things we don't think about, aside from chippy paint, and kids are most at risk for inadvertent lead exposure.
I LOVE THAT DOUBLE LIGHT FIXTURE AT THAT ANTIQUE STORE. VERY UNUSUAL.

I love that light you saw with two shades. Yes, you can use cloth in the kitchen area. If you have two lights as that will you run both lamps/lights at the same one or one off and one on and or dimmers. I really think that one as it's length would be a standalone beautiful statement. It's gorgeous. It will be fun to see what you settle on. Lovely video and I love that you are really beginning to feel baby move and you are feeling the ribs and your body going into mommy shape. Such a beautiful thing and such a miracle.

Yes yes to the light, beautiful, and it's not weird to have fabric in the kitchen. You could always spray the fabric with Scotchguard to protect and stainproof the fabric.

Not to be impertinent but I have never heard of knuckle replacement surgery before,were they smashed in an accident? OUCH,can’t even imagine the pain!😬😳😵💫 (Obviously don’t answer if you don’t want to.) Hope you recover quickly 😢

Macennzie it's not far to go now. What am I going to do when you take time off for baby boy which is SO deserved. You work so hard everyone can see that. In the real world (well my world we take 6 months paid - 12 months with unpaid leave) I bet you will take a month. Either way if you go tomorrow best of luck, I wish I was as prepared as you two, which I was not. DO NOT rush back. My advice soak up every second with those first few weeks, they grow so big so fast. Before you know it in a blink of an eye they are 17 yo like my baby girl. xxxx luv

Mine used my bottom rib on my right side to push off with when repositioning. Later, she used the ribs on the other side. My rib cage never returned to its original size and shape.

That lampshade fixture is to die for!!!!
When my daughter was younger she was a competitive dancer. We used to do conventions there every year at the Pasadena Convention Center on Greene St. Right next door to the American Idol theater there. They used to have the girls get ready in that theater. Beautiful! And so many fun memories. I know exactly where you were shopping today🩷. That Spanish place would be up Drew’s alley! I wish I could hang with you and Drew ( I’m in Temecula). I could learn so much
I was excited, too, that I knew where she was! Years ago, my daughter and I traveled by train right after Christmas from New York to Union Station in LA, then drove to Pasadena for the Rose Parade. We stayed right around the corner at the Hilton so we could walk to our seats on the parade route. We went to the Auditorium on New Year's Eve for a Shen Yun performance. And we shopped nearby on the day or two before and after New Year's.

Currently on the hunt for a new dining table myself. It’s requiring patience for sure! Just here waiting to find the perfect one 🙂 so excited to see this kitchen remodel! Love getting inspired and learning along the way.
A few things I thought of when watching this video: 1) You do have a tape measure on your phone through your phone's photo app; 2) for the baby's room, how about a small table lamp that is placed next to the rocking/slider chair or near the doorway - even a cute floor lamp would look nice in the area you created for the nursery; 3) I love, love, love the idea of having 1 pendent w/ 2 lights coming off of it - even if you took your 2 existing chandeliers that you like, you could make it work & create your own design - there are so many creative people in CA that would work w/ you in creating this; 4) when you were looking at the candles in the one shop you were in, I loved the idea that they were using glass or crystal serving dishes for the candle vessels!!! What a great idea!!! There are so many beautiful vintage pieces out there that would be beautiful candle vessels that otherwise would never be seen. Again, just some thoughts I had when I was watching your video & wanted to share....

I saw the leather chairs and instantly thought - "Romeo's thinking chair!" I may watch too much McCenna. Nah, that's crazy talk! Never too much. 😊
I think that budget is key here. I suggest you use inexpensive finishings, lights, pulls, knobs, etc. Romeo could spray paint anything in a brass or metal finish that comes otherwise. You do not need a table right away. Visit estate sales until you find the table that suits you. Nothing has to be done in a rush. Save those $$$$.
Love to watch your videos while I start the day and have breakfast, usually my cats watch and chill with me. In this episode especially teh music was so well selected (it always is but it stood out for me here) Thanks MaCenna and have an amazing third trimester
So many decisions that have to be made before the contractors catch up to you! I loved that single light with the brass bar and the two shades. That did have the look you normally like. When you stepped into the next to last store, I immediately thought of Drew. It was so the style of his home.

I’ve truely been so inspired by you more recently to really choose a decor theme I fall under for our home as before it was just a random bunch of things. I love vintage but didn’t think I fell under vintage alone. So excited for our journey into this moody home vibes ❤️
