You could always get the chairs sandblasted at an auto body shop. Then ask if they have any left over paint that could be powdercoated on the chairs. My brother did that and the chairs are so well built and preserved that they will last through the apocalypse. We live in Michigan and they were done over ten years ago, and still look brand new.
That’s the best, my husband had that done to something we had. So I hope that’s what Drew does he won’t be disappointed. I personally would not have got the rusted chair . But hope everything works out. Merry Christmas! 🎄
I love the set of books, I looked up the Author William Black of Glasgow Scotland. He was trained as a landscape painter, then became a reporter, war correspondent and finally authored his novels. According to Wikipedia his books are full of descriptive landscape scenes due to his background as a painter. ( 1841 - 1898) His novels were very popular during his lifetime. That set of novels is absolutely beautiful, old books are artwork in themselves. Love your videos and thank you for taking us along on your shopping trips!
Really loved some of those items in your haul but Drew, you NEED that stunning copper bathtub!!! You could have it outdoors and have outdoors moonlight baths! Surrounded by candles in tall wrought-iron candlestick holders!
Hey Drew! Apparently some green books from the 1800s contain arsenic in the green pigment. There is something called the Poison Book Project to help people identify whether their vintage books contain arsenic.
It's called Paris Green. Arsenic is about the color of Malachite stone. Mouse and rat poison pellets are a vibrant green, because arsenic is that color. Paris Green wallpaper was popular in Victorian times and did make many, many people sick and some dead. The cure, if you weren't dead, was to go stay at the beach for a while which made everyone feel better until they can home! Eventually, people figured out what was making them sick and Paris Green lost its popularity. Go figure! I hadn't heard of the Poison Book project. How cool is that! Just because arsenic is bright green doesn't mean it couldn't be lightened to the lichen color of those books. Arsenic is a pigment just like notoriously toxic Cobalt blue was.)
For your bed, I wouldn’t bother looking for an antique unless you can settle for a full-size. Go to Wayfair and get something that LOOKS old. Prices are great and Wayfair customer service is always outstanding.
I thought the same, I wasn't watching just listening but as soon as I heard 1800s and green then glanced up... it would be good to check as they used arsenic to create vibrant green colours which didn't exist before then
I think you totally need that bathtub that baby looks super super old like back from the days of kings and queens and kingdoms😁. And it’s such a beautiful copper. I think it would work so well in your house.
@@lonefox I believe it's called trench art. Men in WWI and I think WWII would make things out of any materials they had when they were stuck for days in the trenches 💜💙💚🙃🧡

My jaw dropped when I saw that copper bathtub. OMG I am in LOVE!! If I lived there, I would buy it and then redo my bathroom to suit it. It's so stunning!! Nothing like I have seen before.

I think watching people Antique shop is so much fun! Its so cool to see so many awesome pieces in the background. Just the store with all those rugs and lamps... I melted away just looking at those wooden mirrors! So cool. Recently I do quite a bit of thrifting for antiques. Today I picked up a Cherrywood Armchair from the 1920´s for only 50 bugs. The colour of the wood is chipping away a little and I likely need to replace the whole upsolstery, but the wooden Frame alone is so extremely pretty. Last Month I Picked up a big Antique Buffet from 1870-1890 in incredible well condition for only 300 Euros! Needed to hoist the thing out of the 4th floor into my dads Van but it was totally worth it lol. All of these old furniture pieces are often times still very stable and only need a little love to look amazing. And the quality is just so much better then a lot of brand new furniture.
Drew, I love you shopping videos. I enjoy seeing the items on display and the beautiful selections you make. Inspiring! Just one note - the handles on the kitchen utensils are wrought iron, not cast iron. That mirror with the arrows was also wrought iron. Wrought iron is made by heating the iron rods to red hot then hammering them by hand to form various curved, twisted and pointed shapes.
Decor question for you drew: So with all the pretty and unique antique pieces you’re getting, how do you add in modern things like a super comfy/homey couch (for practical reasons we all wanna lounge on a giant cozy sofa at night and watch our shows) Vintage is so gorgeous but sometimes isn’t as comfortable/cozy as more modern furniture. Im excited to see how you find the balance. If anyone can do it it’s you! I love you and your style and your personality and your work! 💕💚
I have trouble with this too. But I just watch Drews old livingroom decor videos for inspiration. Since he had his more modern couches. Mixed with old vases and older side tables. It’s so hard to do though.. Drew truly has an eye for these things. His style is beautiful. I see good pieces but I like you, I have trouble making things from different areas look cohesive. And drew just does it so easily and beautifully, it’s crazy 😂

Those chair would have been in a ice cream shop. My uncle have a ice cream shop and had 5 sets of these in the shop with tables. When he closed his shop he gave a set to each of his siblings. My sister has the set he gave to our father. I love it.
The brass spatula and spoon are identical to utensils I have. I have a spatula and spoon of brass with copper rivets, like the ones you found, and a slotted spoon and ladel of copper with brass rivets. I bought them from the blacksmith who made them by hand at a Harvest Festival in San Francisco in late 1979. Those festivals happened in all major California cities in the late 70s, generally with the same group of juried craftsmen. I cherish those implements. They're gorgeous.
I swear I sat in chairs like that when a child in the 50's....in old soda shops that were quite cute in their time, that was In NY. I think they made a comeback in the 8'0's, and a great come back again. Great Find for your lovely home. On another note though...I really like your style, so creative, as well as inspiring...yes, even at my age LoL You have the eye for sure, as they would say back then. Your little favorite vase is called an amphora. A Greek design, usually huge because they were used in ancient times to store olives. Many people here in Greece now use them in the yards tipped over and planted with flowers running out. From wiki, - An amphora is a type of container with a pointed bottom and characteristic shape and size ... Versions of the amphorae were one of many shapes used in Ancient Greek ... Greek amphoras from en.wikipedia.org Size: Small-volume container varying from table-top size to half the height of a human, ... Material: Ceramic, a small minority in metal, rare instances in stone or glass
Glad you found Big Daddy's. I found it about 5 years ago and every time I visit LA, I have to go there. Stuff is awesome. You can also host parties there (at least before COVID you could). Have fun with your shopping and decorating your gorgeous new home - swanky!!
Love the round taper stand. It would be in the middle of a table, every season something different. Pretty. BUT I’d just like to take a moment to wax effusive over Drew’s tan and green plaid shirt! I live in cold, North Central Idaho, currently 4’ of snow, and there is something about plaid that just always seems warm. His was the perfect season spanning shirt I love. His first sleeveless shirt was gorgeous, but sleeveless. Cute on him. But the plaid, I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
I have those brass deer too. Love them. Decades ago my mom had one of those round candelabra. She decorated it with fir boughs and with a cut glass bowl filled with glass ornaments in the center for the holidays.
Happy birthday, Justin! I hope it was a great one. I enjoy these thrifting/antiquing videos so much. I'm so proud of you young people for buying secondhand.
The tall brass piece that kind of looks Like a vase with a stand, is actually A shell from a large bullet from WW11. I saw many when I was a kid at antique Galerías. I am now 56 yrs old.
I am a thrifter so I loooooooove it! Yes, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose with thrifting. It is apart of the process. I looked for Queen size headboard and had a kind antiquer say the same. It was RARE...but if you do find a full-queenish size one they should know how to make it fit. There is a technique they use. It works!

You always find something unique and beautiful in those overcrowded shops and flea markets…my favourites were the mixed metal utensils, the sweet nightstand and the little clay pot, with the red in it.
I have a nightstand slightly wider than yours. Do you plan to refinish yours or leave that glorious patina? My grandfather "fixed" one of the drawers that was falling apart and that adds to the charm. I think moisture got to it where my grandmother kept it on a 3-season porch off her bedroom. I use mine in my bedroom and have a newer table that is unique on the other side of my bed. No matchy matchy for this old lady. I love both. You have such patience. I would go nuts traveling to so many stores and flea markets. But then, that's how you find such great things.
I first started watching you way back when you did crafting vids. I do miss them but am now really enjoying your new house projects and especially your vids on shopping to dress your home. My very best wishes for the holidays and the New Year for you, your family and all those who make your channel so fun to watch! Ho, ho, ho, from Greece. 🎄🎉🕊🇬🇷
Choosing items that are really unique will always work in your spaces and you will always love them. You might end up having to design your own special Lone Fox Designs king-size bed. You might never find something that suits your design esthetic otherwise. Every time I see your new house I get so excited to see the way you will update it without ruining it- it is lucky to have you as the new owner. Might have to add some seats to those patio chairs tho...:-) Happy Birthday, Justin, and best to you both for the holidays and New Year.
I think you can seal rusty things so they don't degrade anymore and so the rust does't stain your cement or clothes. I'd be careful with having that chair outside because it will continue to rust and the rust will stain whatever you have it sitting on. Rust is so hard to get out of things.
I prefer the rustic look for the chairs.
Don’t do this if you think they could be valuable, a lot of times removing the rust & tarnish also removes the value
Definitely agree with the sand blasting. Great quick idea. And you help support a local company.

Drew, that copper bathtub is what my dreams are made of!!! Lotsa very cool things in that place!
I just wanna spend the day with him and go shopping. Sigh. Such beautiful things.
I really enjoy the thrift shopping videos. I thank you for taking us along with you on this adventure.
I stumbled on your page yesterday, think I'm in love with your content! Will be bingeing your older videos. Loved your trip to the flea market, and especially loved your brioche vest!
Please keep thrifting and sharing your trips. I'm living vicariously through you! LOL
Here in Michigan, that rusty chair would be free 😂 Either sitting on the side of the road or in a thrift store at the main entrance Lol
Yes you need the tub! Copper hold heat realy well so long warm baths for the win!
If I got any of these pieces I know I'd just hoard them and fawn over them forever and ever they're so gorgeous I just wouldn't have the first idea where to put everything, you have such a natural eye ! I can't wait to see how you display them! It's so exciting seeing everything coming together! The new year is going to be huge for you I know it!!!
You & Justin 🙂 are so fun to spend time with. You go girls!!!
Love your honesty about pricey antique stores. You continue to make videos on everything you want lol. I enjoy your enthusiasm. Thank you 🙏🏼🌹🌟😊
You definitely NEED that cost bathtub!! It would look amazing in your new home. I think you should go for it!
Drew I got to say your taste is unique that is why I think I like watching you....I saw some amazing things on your trips and I would love them and then you showed us other things....that is how it rolls but I still love to watch!
Thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Thank you for kindness to others. Just started watching Elysia English's recent vid and it reminded me of how you helped her, her family and channel. You are a very good human. Blessings to you and yours, Drew.
Thank you for all your content Drew. Your caring and fun persona makes my day every time you post. Merry Christmas 🎄 ❤
Thank you for taking us thrifting with you. Love thrifting as well, because there are so many interesting pieces at these types of stores.
That antique bath tub was to die for
Those chair would have been in a ice cream shop. My uncle have a ice cream shop and had 5 sets of these in the shop with tables. When he closed his shop he gave a set to each of his siblings. My sister has the set he gave to our father. I love it.
Love love love that you share your antique shopping experiences 🤍
The brass spatula and spoon are identical to utensils I have. I have a spatula and spoon of brass with copper rivets, like the ones you found, and a slotted spoon and ladel of copper with brass rivets. I bought them from the blacksmith who made them by hand at a Harvest Festival in San Francisco in late 1979. Those festivals happened in all major California cities in the late 70s, generally with the same group of juried craftsmen. I cherish those implements. They're gorgeous.
I'm enjoying your love for Spanish gothic everything! ❤️
Thank You for sharing your Gifts and Beautiful Talent. Many Blessings to you, for continued Success~
Drew, your excitement is infectious. You have a good eye for things. ❤️
Don’t you just love those “died and gone to heaven “ type places? That store was amazing !! ❤
Oh Drew, thanks for taking us along on this shopping trip, it was such fun. You have an amazing eye and I am so excitied to see your new home come together.
YES! You NEED that copper bathtub Drew!!! Or one like it 😊
💚 The 4 metal chairs you picked up are ICE CREAM SHOP CHAIRS! I have had them in the past and they are so sturdy! I used mine as plant holders and the heart shape in the back always made for a good little trellis! 💚
I could just see a beautiful out door rusted&black chandelier hanging from that plant hook above where you want to do a little round table!!!
May God continue to bless your life, keep your table full, and bring you all of the love in His heart. I pray this new year brings you an abundance of prosperity, good health, peace, and awesomely good times. May all of your relationships flourish, and may your heart always be full of love! You make the world a better place, spreading beauty and talent to everything you say and do! Peace and blessings to all!
Greek amphoras from en.wikipedia.org
Size: Small-volume container varying from table-top size to half the height of a human, ...
Material: Ceramic, a small minority in metal, rare instances in stone or glass
I love those shops you are going into I would spend the whole day looking in them all xx
Glad you found Big Daddy's. I found it about 5 years ago and every time I visit LA, I have to go there. Stuff is awesome. You can also host parties there (at least before COVID you could). Have fun with your shopping and decorating your gorgeous new home - swanky!!
Happy Birthday Justin and Happy Holidays to the whole Lone Fox family and crew
Just the fact that that antique store has a beegees playing in the background, I’m all about that place! Loved it
The tall brass piece that kind of looks
Like a vase with a stand, is actually
A shell from a large bullet from WW11.
I saw many when I was a kid at antique
Galerías. I am now 56 yrs old.
I'd leave the chairs as is but put a sealer of some kind on them, including the rusty one so the rust doesn't stain your flooring.
It works!
If you’re in Long Beach check out Urban Americana Antique store! I think you’d love that place!
Drew , this was so fun to go shopping with you! I for one appreciate your sharing locations and names for the shops . I now know where to go for my dining room chandelier that I have been looking for , for years! Thank you, I’m just down the coast from you. Also, what I enjoyed the most was your joy and happiness, you have the best smile and sparkle to your gorgeous eyes! Btw, love house your home is curating. I’m learning so much. ❤️🐝
I think the utensils are hand forged (rare so very special) especially in the combination of (3) metals wow !!! if you’re going back there I think you should get some more won’t be able to find them so easy later ? FYI, I read twenty four seven honestly I only seem to be happy when I’m reading but guess what I used to hate it I really did not sure when or what caused the change it just happened
i was waiting for your latest video - your smile and upbeat attitude always makes me feel happy !!!
That outdoor table set you found with the glass top was really nice and a really good price !! That copper bathtub was amazing !! with that little copper sink .. those little wire chairs are bistro chairs...
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! JUSTIN! HOPE IT WAS THE BEST EVER!!
Big Daddy Antiques - Stunning! Such a beautiful arrangement; I agree, it looks like a curated home. I've never seen an antique store look so inviting, pretty, organized & clean! I live way too far away (Midwest) so I won't be going there anytime soon; however, if I ever get back to CA, I will most certainly visit.
Enjoy your day!! Merry Christmas to you & yours, Drew (and Justin).
HE IS BORN!! Luke 2:10-14
Hi Drew thank you for taking us antique shopping with you. Love all your finds.
What a haul!!!
Love ❤️ Love ❤️ the brass items!!!
I love antique shopping, flea market, and thrifting with you!!!
Merry Christmas 🦊🎁🎄
Your amazing!
Drew I really enjoyed you taking us on your shopping trips - you have picked amazing pieces & looking forward to see you incorporate them in your home as you decorate your home
Happy birthday, Justin and happy holidays to you and Drew. I have had such fun watching you two go antiquing this past year, especially from the time you bought your lovely house. I’m a retiree living alone and can’t wait for your posts to poo up in my feed. My very best wishes to you & your family for a wonderful new year. Bless you. 🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🎄🎉🕊🕊🕊🕊
You always find something unique and beautiful in those overcrowded shops and flea markets…my favourites were the mixed metal utensils, the sweet nightstand and the little clay pot, with the red in it.
Antiques are amazing!
!!!! Taco fancy seeing you here!! happy holidays to you and Salsa!
Happy Birthday Justin! Drew, I love love love when you take us along on you antique and thrifting trips! ❤️
LOVE the copper bathtub!
Id highly suggest looking into coming to Roundtop down in Texas! You would die at how amazing all the antiques and shopping is 😍
Hello Brennan how are you doing,
where are you from?
honestly i would die for the lil nightstand. she's perfect.
I LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOUR FLEA MARKET/ antique shopping expeditions, Drew! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Big Daddy's Thrift place looked AMAZING! If I lived there I would definitely be checking it out!
Get the copper bathtub!! I feel like it would make your bathroom look even more beautiful!!😍❤❤
I think you can seal rusty things so they don't degrade anymore and so the rust does't stain your cement or clothes. I'd be careful with having that chair outside because it will continue to rust and the rust will stain whatever you have it sitting on. Rust is so hard to get out of things.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! And yes please share the content if you don't find something! :D
McCenna would LOVE that book set. Ya know how she shops for great looking old books! ❤️❤️
Thank You for sharing the names of where you are shopping. I’m checking these places out next time I’m in Cali. 🥰
I love your cheerfulness and passion for what you are creating. Merry Christmas 🎄
