    An analog Oscillator Comparison would be great in the future as i'm searching for a replacement for my Doepfer A-110-1

    Jomox sounded the heaviest followed by Hexinverter Mutant Bass Drum

      WMD Crater and then Jomox IMO, BD9 was solid too.

    Just my personal opinion but I think a Moog DFAM sounds more rich an deep than all of these.

    • @Dolmens_Art
      @Dolmens_Art 3 роки тому +3

      It does for sure, vaguely regret selling mine. It's just takes up so much rack space lol, can be quite slow to dial in the right sound as well. I might get one in the future and keep it outside the rack next time.

      DFAM+Subharmonicon would be great portable setup.

    • @brianobush
      @brianobush 3 роки тому +1

      Agreed. I sometimes just tune it to a sound and trigger it externally w/o the internal sequencer.

    • @stinkymart3173
      @stinkymart3173 3 роки тому

      Yeah, any collection of more traditional modules wired up the right way and dialed in just perfectly, but like the other replies said that takes up a lot more space than any of these modules. That's just the trade-off

    • @Dolmens_Art
      @Dolmens_Art 3 роки тому +3

      @@stinkymart3173 Takes up space and you lose the immediacy of a dedicated module that way. Some people are into modular because they want to design everything from scratch, others want to design an instrument that does exactly what they want, how they want it, and that can include being able to dial in a kick without interrupting your workflow.
      Both approaches are totally valid, and I think most modular users probably fall into the middle there somewhere with a lot of sound design capabilities but dedicated modules with a niche/specific range as well.

    Great vid - would be interested for more of these especially as it's harder to come to the store to try things out right now.. Personal (and blind tested) favs are Basimilus and Jomox here.

      agree and BIA is super versatile can do more if you modulate it and Jomox is just a beast.

    great video! hex BD9 gets pretty wholesome. all seem useful sounding for different applications. for my needs and desired sound, my biased love is undeniable; erica bassdrum is the truth.

    Jomox sounds the best to me in terms of weight and the variety of tones you can get out of a module. But its "click" part feels separate from the body/sub. I think it's a must to run it through some saturation and/or compression to "glue" all the components together. Awesome comparison video btw.

      @@piotr803 use an eq bell curve, then you don't loose the roundness of your transients :)

    • @Dolmens_Art
      @Dolmens_Art 3 роки тому

      @@nym053 Kind of a pain to dial that in with modular gear though. I reckon it's feasible with the ER-301 although I'm not 100% sure how I'd go about that. A lot of eurorack users don't seem to be using EQ, or are running something pretty basic.

    Thanks for this comparison! My favorites are Mutant BD and BIA. The L.E.P. Cassa sounds kind of weird but i guess this is what you have to expect from a L.E.P. Module :D

    Thanks and this was helpful. My fav is the Tiptop BD09. Tones are great. Easy to dial in a solid fundamental kick. If I want more, I can add to the sound. I cant add to a heavy transient or noisy sound. While I enjoy just playing with the BIA...its a pain to add in a mix where the other sounds are clean or more clean. All this said, I just ordered the SSF Ultra Kick. Hoping its fundamental is solid and when I want to add more, I can do that all in one place. Plus I want to use it for sub bass texture.

    Für Sound Design finde ich Crater und Modbase am besten. Sind am vielseitigsten. BIA ist nicht ganz so gut wie das LIP für kicks, aber beide sind mmn. ne absolute Verschwendung wenn man sie nur für kicks benutzt, man sollte einfach resamplen und das damit machen was man damit machen soll und zwar die Module modulieren. Meine liebste kick ist immer noch die BoomTschak von AudioDamage, das mit nem tanh[³] als Waveshaper/Limiter/Feedback und Godeater zur Verzerrung und das Gebäude stürzt ein. Am besten das Signal in nen LR4 crossover filter. Die lows-lowmids in ein Desmodus Versio parallel zum Dry Signal und ne richtig dicke rumble kick draus machen, geht ab wie sau ...
