HELLO HELLO!!! Right after I finished recording this video, The Google Translate app came out with the same function as Word Lens, so now you have it all in one app.... In the google translate app, simply click on the Camera icon on the left, right under the text box and point the camera lens to the text. Like Magic :)
Hi! Google, Inc. acquired Quest Visual on May 16, 2014 in order to incorporate Word Lens into its Google Translate service...

I've been binge watching your videos in preparation for an upcoming big trip and now I know why you look familiar. Fluenz!!! My bf is using Fluenz to learn Spanish and he loves it. Your channel is awesome and you have the greatest travel tips.
Thankyou so so so so much! I've been studying spanish for 6 years now and seriously, disecting and translating essays in a foreign language aint so easy, especially when you have to flick through a dictionary every five minutes! I've been a sub for a longggg while now and I love your videos but as a student I dont really travel much... yet! so not many of your videos have been relevant to me at the moment (Theyre all super awesome so keep up the good work! Im sure all your travel knowledge will pay off someday for me) until this one! Im certain this app will become my new favourite, the translations are fast, easy and accurate! A fantastic spanish-english dictionary app is wordreference - it's the only one our teachers let us use at our school. This is more for looking up individual words and some phrases rather than learning a language. wordreference also has other languages, French being one of them

I love the update to Google translate, but it's almost scary how good it's getting if you think about it it's literally going to change the way we can communicate in other languages.

I know you're promoting Fluenz which I'm sure is amazing, but another to-learn-a-language app that is FREE is Duolingo. They don't have a huge choice of languages, but it's free so you can't really go wrong with trying it.
You're adorable! And your videos have been a great resource for my travels, thanks. The Google translate app is amazing! I'm moving to China next year to teach English, and start a business, and I'm seriously considering using Fluenz to learn Mandarin! Wish me luck!
Maybe you could make a video where you share a bit more about your experience in China? ...tips, advice?

I have been a subscriber and weekly watcher of your videos for ages. I have also had my heart set on picking up your Fluenz program for Spanish & Portuguese for almost as long. I previously spent a hideous amount of money on your competition's language program which I hated and resold on eBay for a fraction of what I paid. Any chance you would offer your subscribers a one time only discount on your program? If you did, I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat! Thanks for all the amazing travel tips each week Sonia!

soniastravels Totally agree with Kara! As much as $300 is a considered a good price when compared to say Rosetta Stone, I cannot afford that much. Would be nice to even have a contest so someone can win a copy of a language.

As much as I would love to have Fluenz, since I am teaching myself french. It is way out of my price range. Ill try to save up for it but for now I continue with the apps I have.

Idk if I'm correct in this or not, but I couldn't find Word Lens in the app store at all so I Googled it, & apparently it's part of Google Translate now. So, if you can't find Word Lens, download Google Translate.

Thoughts on learning languages simultaneously. I'm planning a trip to Argentina and Southern Brazil. Should I learn Spanish and Portuguese together? If I have to choose one, which? I think Spanish because I travel to Mexico a fair bit too.
Sonia is Fluenz downloadable in real time or do you have to order the package with the CDs? Also I read some reviews saying that you don't learn all that much Spanish because of the slow pace of the exercises are you going to release newer lessons later on or?

fyi...word lens is no longer available from the app store and has been incorporated into the google translate app.
also, how long ago did you record this vid? as it seems all the information you're providing is out of date. google translate does 90 language now. for fluenz to work i think you also have to have a sub.

A great app for learning languages is Duolingo. It's free and fun.

I downloaded Google Translate and it seems that it doesn't have the hovering function like word lens had, is this correct?.

Hi Sonia. Just an update. Word Lens App is no longer available. It says, ""This download is no longer available. This could be due to the program being discontinued, having a security issue or for some other reasons".

Yep. it's a hefty program fully interactive. Not for the casual learner for sure but super super effective :)
