I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Although my channel is mostly known for dance analysis, I am currently inactive in the dance community.

You called the members pretty well. Hunter in the black N white pants is a main dancer. He and Seeun (slid from the center to the right side of the screen) are both former Pledis trainees. Minjae (green pants/crumpling) is their leader, oldest (2003),one of three main rappers, and he said once early on that he's a main dancer. Yechan, maknae, fast rapper, is main rapper #2, and also a main dancer. Sumin, the third main rapper is always their number one swag man. The one you said has San energy is Junghoon. We call him baby demon for exactly that reason. He is a lead vocal like San as well. Unfortunately, he was injured near the end of their promotions and required surgery. Their final main dancer is Junmin. He is the second one in the video (you thought he might be the same as the first, but in different clothes). He has a nice voice, so he sang the first part of the bridge, where they twitch their heads. You need to watch a live because they didn't come to play and sing live (I recommend the live of Xikey with Junmin in black on the thumbnail).
I think they dropped this MV first because it covers part of their storyline. In Korean the title is Dokkeabi House. Korean goblins (dokkaebi) are nature spirits/gods that can inhabit objects and have special powers. They can be mischievous and can also be helpful. They're associated with blue flame (Wikipedia), so it may be that the blue flames around the man in some shots are the members in their natural form.
My take: while it appears the goblins are being mischievous, I believe they're being mischievous in a helpful way. The man is working so late that no one is left on the subway by the time he leaves work. He looks stuck in the daily grind of life. I think exposing him to music, the arcade, dancing, and the carnival is their attempt to help him remember what it feels to enjoy life again. At the end of the bridge, they say "tell me what you want. Tell me what you need." and a car appears. I think they gave him what they sensed he wanted. The man smiles ear to ear as he drifts around the parking lot. Minjae's last words are "don't forget." This could have double meaning: 1) "Don't forget" it's our time now (we've debuted). 2) "Don't forget" to have fun and enjoy your life (within the context of the MV). I think they left because they had accomplished their mission. Apparently, goblins are known to inhabit household items like tools and brooms. I think the ten brooms at the end are proof he hadn't been dreaming. He had actually encountered 10 goblins.
Their second title track Rockstar, starts out more like you would expect for a debut. It has a dance practice as well, so I hope you react to it. Thanks for this!
I was waiting for this!! Xikers have become my favorite rookies because they are so awesome. Hongjoong did have a hand in producing this song and also the rest on their album, which is pretty cool!

Listening to you talk about how it seems like Ateez had a hand in the music - you’re right! I believe Hongjoong helped produce all of their songs on the album.
Finished it so first thanks for taking the time to check them out! They are such a cool group, though I hope even though they are also under Edenary and BBTrippins they will be able to carve out an identity separate from Ateez. I think you seemed most interested in the three rappers - Minjae (leader), Yechan, and Sumin. Also Hunter, who is a main dancer. I also hope we get to see their vocals shine more in future. Excitedly waiting to see your Ateez reaction too!
i kinda understand why everyone is comparing them to ateez but i don't think xikers sound like them AT ALL 💀💀 it's definitely more about a company sound, cause they have that KQ energy. i can't really see ateez doing this song (and their other title track "Rockstar" is even more different imo)

I'm with you. This sound is too young for Ateez. San and Seonghwa did the Rockstar challenge with Hunter and Junmin and it was extremely obvious that Xikers' choreography is nothing like Ateez's.
I love Tricky House so much. It's also exciting to hear and see the KQ Style. Ppl keep saying they sound like Ateez but that's not true. Especially on the album you can hear their differences. But anyway, one of the best debuts out there. Their live stages are frankly insane
Like it was a bad thing. Even if they did sound 100% like Ateez, which they don't, it would be great because Ateez has a powerful and unique sound. So only good things for them.

you're the first reactor i've seen that has addressed the difference between ateez's sound and kq's sound!!! it's understandable that people are a little confused rn but this is where and when kq will be establishing who they are and what their company sound is versus what individual songs and concepts they give to their groups!
In terms of perfomance you have GOT to watch their album preview, their showcase or just any predebut stuff in general bc its AMAZING. Theyre def Ateez little bros in that regard and honestly KQ found a good bunch!!

I got to see them live when Ateez was touring! They performed at some stadiums pre debut and thats honestly such a flex. I was so captivated by Tricky House when they performed it. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future.
me too! I was so impressed with their stage presence and how much of smolbois they are haha. I honestly don't even remember them performing Tricky House. I was just glad they were having fun!

Yes xikers are so good! I got to see them live last year when I saw Ateez because they were on tour with them as KQ fellaz 2 since it was before they got a name and official debut date! And they are crazy good for rookies! 👌🏽 I'm still figuring out their names and everything..theres a lot of them 😂 If you're curious about their lore a little "itsandyandjas" do a great break down of the lyrics because they know the Korean goblin/trickster stories! It was really interesting and helps understand the concept of the music video way more! 👌🏽

1) You're right about ATEEZ having hand in the writing/production, Hongjoong is included in all of the songs I believe
2) About the sound being possibly from ATEEZ if someone said it's their song... Yes I thought that aswell. It does sound like "baked in the same oven". But at the same times for Xikers it's in my opinion visibly more playful (like you said yourself) and chaotic rather than dominant, and ATEEZ to me sound dominant (not in a toxic way please). Whereas *Xikers are not here to conquer, they are here to play* and make a mess. I'd even call their songs inconsistent - each of the songs switches vibes throughout like making a collage of magazine clippings, putting together a mosaic. I think that matches their "chaotic" concept so well.
It’s not a surprise but Kq is really a performance powerhouse. Xikers have Ateez crazy energy but their own flavor (?) to it. The rapline is so strong it must make HongJoong and Mingi proud. I was not planing to but I’ll follow them. Really strong debut, the bsides on the album are incredible (HongJoong was part of the main team producer in the album 💕)

I do think KQ has a particular vibe/sound they go for (not exactly anthem-y but grand and sometimes chaotic at first listen - maybe - exciting and catchy) as seen in all their groups so far (BlockB, ATEEZ and now Xikers). But I do feel like the way that is expounded and gradually grows, differs pretty noticeably...
You need to see their Homeboy choreography, that super amazinggg and interesting❤

Their energy is contagious! So much fun and love the phrase "liquid movements" bc def have felt that they flow from one move to the next. Minjae in the green pants is the leader and i feel you can feel it and enjoyed that you could tell Hunter was the main dancer. 🎉

They released a second mv with more of the close up shots :) impersonally loved that they didn’t do it in tricky house because i feel like it would have disrupted the flow and the story telling of the mv :)

I suggest, if you want see more of their visuals, you can watch their another title track called 'rockstar'. I'd really love to see your reaction and thoughts about the mv and the dance practice. Ngl the dance is so intense and the bpm is higher than this 'tricky house'.
Also, I'm so impressed of how xikers are still rookies but their performance on live stages were definitely unlike rookies. Yup just reminded me of ateez. I love both ateez and xikers!

- the first one you noticed in the dance practice video was lee yechan! he is the maknae (2005), main rapper and main dancer also. he had the longest training period out of all the members.
- the one with the green pants is kim minjae. he is the oldest (2003) and also the leader. he's also a main rapper and main dancer. these two are very good vocals also.
- the one with the cap is choi sumin, the third main rapper (lmao). as far as i know, he doesnt have a dancer position (i could be wrong bc the last time i checked, they never really released the official positions?)
- lastly is kim junghoon, a lead vocalist. he's the one you said had the 'san energy'
and yes! it is pronounced as sa-ee-kers. it is a combination of the unknown variable 'X' and the word 'hikers'. X represents the infinite possibilities while hikers represents the boys (them) that are travelling to find their own dream.
also, you guessed that the members had a hand with making the songs and you are right! hongjoong had a hand producing the whole album, especially 'xikey' (its a really good song, a fan favorite) since he directed when they were recording (i am not sure if hongjoong directed for the other songs also but i only remember sikey having an explicit mention with hongjoong directing, it was in their idol radio episode with yunho and hongjoong as DJs).
i recommend reacting to 'Rockstar' also! it has both mv and dance practice video. also waiting for the bouncy reaction,, its so good im addicted lmao (seonghwa had no vocal lines because he had hid own rap verse while hongjoong didn't have one as he sang the chorus)

Regarding their sound while hongjoong did have part in production, edenary and maddox did as well, so they have the same peoduction crew as ateez, so i would rather call it a kq sound then ateez sound? I really hope you react to their second title rockstar as well, that one is definitely a bit more vocal based and has that youger feeling and the performance is amazing as always!!!
You should take a look at CRAZY NIGHT by DKZ. IT has some hard choreography in it, too.

personally i don't think it resembles ateez, maybe the strongness of the song, but ateez has more of a muture vibe in them and their music by now, xikers def still have the rookie vibe even if their level is incredible for being rookies

yeah they are a little more hip-hop inclined and they have more of a young vibe than ateez but actually have 3 rappers and the rest all vocalist. Hyunwoo is the main vocal but as you say, this song don't give the vocalist justice
