It is likely none of these persons knew they were being filmed, or even what film is, and here we are observing them nearly 130 years later. Just an average day.

They had no idea what film was. Edison stole it from leprince and showed his version only 3 years later

Every now and again, I come back to Louis Le Prince and just watch his films over and over. I admire his work very much, I'd love to pay tribute to him in some way. Also, on a random note lol, I have given the horse a name. I call him Gus; short for Pegasus.

Even without a soundtrack I think its safe to say that there were no horns being blown that day! Nothing but clopity clop...If you want to enjoy nothing but horse steps on the pavement you can take a trip to Mackinaw Isl, MI for a very relaxing weekend-no automobiles allowed except for emergency vehicles. Oh yeah, and the public works shovelers (of you know what) early in the morning.

Funny that people of the future who would possibly be airborne or are mobile via some other means which we have not yet thought of, will be looking at our videos of normal car driving and wondering the same thing what we are were thinking at this moment. To the person of the future, its a loop my friend.

There are only a few seconds that are repeated many times. I wonder if there was once more footage of this and if so, what became of it. It seems odd if he loaded his camera with only a few feet of film.

The house in Round Hay was the home of the Whitley family, which should be traceable in local records, and the house itself may indeed be standing. The Whitley family had a small engineering business in Leeds.

@Drew Brigham Ah, is the camera facing north, towards the railway bridge over Briggate? I'd always thought it was facing south, with the Headrow behind the camera. I can't match the buildings in the film to either direction, although they may well have changed since 1888.

All the buildings top right are still standing 2023. The entrance to The Golden Lion Hotel, now The Cosmopolitan, is beneath the white band. The white building top centre and all the buildings to the left have been replaced by what was Leeds City Transport Swinegate building, now Malmaison.
