I literally gasped out loud when I saw all the tent paintings in the opening frame. They made me happy. 😄
    Love your bright shirt! 😍
I tend to like more textured paper, and I wonder if that goes back to my acrylic days, painting on a canvas, like I think there needs to be texture or something. Some of the artists I watch who do line & wash prefer hot pressed paper. I've turned my nose up to it at this point but might give it another try someday.
Love the tent paintings and this experiment! 🏕 (I can't really tell what that emoji is because of my old eyes, but I hope it's a tent and not a burrito or something.) 😂
(Thanks for mentioning me and being happy for me!🎉 I keep thinking I am going to get better at mentioning others, and then I get in a hurry and just speed through the process. I will get better, I WILL!!) 🥰

I'm the same...I love textured paper! I did hear someone else recently say that hot pressed is good for scanning prints, too, which makes sense. Then you don't see the texture in the picture but can print it on textured paper.
And yes, I love the camping tent emoji! 🤩

@@WatercolorKari also funny about my shirt since we both mostly like wearing neutral colors. And I still have lots more people I'm wanting to give a shout out to. Just takes a while!

😂 Which one did you prefer? Or could you tell which one was most expensive?

It's really interesting to see the difference the paper makes, even with cheap paint. You can really see that the cheaper paper doesn't absorb the water properly, so the paint and water sit at the surface and dry in puddles, which makes the end result look blotchy. I can also tell by the end result that you had more control over the treeline shadows in the background of the most expensive paper. That's the thing with good paper isn't it...once you try it, you can never go back 😅

@restingglitchface2589 yes! I'm glad for the cheap paper because it got me started and helped me fall in love with watercolor. I don't think I would have tried it or used it as much if I had to spend $75+ to get started. But now I also don't feel the need to buy that inexpensive paper again.
