I wish more people would have pride in Nigerian work so Nigerians can put their own label on their own shoes. 🌞🥰 When I'm in Nigeria I won't buy anything that's not Nigerian made. ❤️
This video is dropping at the right time. Because am also dropping a documentary on shoe-making today. It's time to support and promote business in the South East! Thank you sharing Nwanne
Oh that's nice, like we are thinking alike. And yes it's time we need to promote our home industries, from the small scale businesses to the big ones. Like PO said "It's time to take Nigeria from consumption to production". Kudos to you nwanne.
Reason why those manufacturers do put on those int'l brand names/logos is b/cos gullible Nigerians dat doesn't appreciate/believe in made in aba/nigeria product'll purchase the item cos de think is made from the abroad.. We should start believing in ourself and what we do if we really want to grow & go far to compete in d global mkt the mentality of na aba made' still lingers.. Kudos to those who patronize and still believe in them against all odds..
Very dirty and flooded streets showing absence of governance 😭. Little support and infrastructure could transform the Aba market. Entrepreneurship here is second to none.
This is eye opening. With constant power supply, they can boost productivity by so much. These market and Aba need to be cleaned, roads fixed. Some of them, most are working in shops with no windows or ventilation. Our Craftmen should be proud of their craft and stamp "Made in Aba", "Made in Nigeria ". Their products are better in quality than somethings in the Obodo Oyibo. They can even write their company names like "Chubby Nigeria". Modern business men can go in and teach these hardworking men and women how to market their proudly made in Nigerian goods to the world using social media. They can be taught to do this individually or collectively. Some of these men working here have children that were sent to University using money from these crafts. These children should use social media to take these businesses to greater heights. Finally Nwannem, when next you do a video like this, when they say the amount in Naira, during editing, show the dollar equivalent on the screen. Your viewers are global. Ya gazie.
Just imagine for one minute that the Kaduna textile, Kano Leather and Benin Rubber/ plastic industries supply materials Aba needs to produce shoes. Think about it for a moment. Imagine the economic potential that would be unleashed.

Please tell me more about your parent's aspects of the shoe business. Also, I would like to understand how much of the materials used in making these shoes are sourced from Nigeria? for example, I suppose that some of the leather should be sourced from Kaduna or Kano?

One of the reasons this kind of production is not recognized is because it is still done in a primitive way. In this time of internet they are supposed to be using the social media to promote their products. People need to follow the time and stop remaining in the past.

Aba's potential has always been there. What is lacking are 2 fold: effective leadership (both state and federal ) and private vision. I will explain. The state governments in Abia since 1999 has been useless. If they had vision and sense, they would have demolished the market and organize the place. The federal government can use policy of mandating all uniformed formations to source their footwear and clothing from Aba. That will be a game changer. But I know they won't do it.
