With a name like “Hostilius”, I can only imagine he was a diplomatically inclined ruler and not at all intent on actively seeking out the smoke at every given opportunity.
I love how this time when you say "The Gods" I still think about when you talked about Roman Emperors being killed by the Goths and it sounds almost exactly the same! :D Thanks for all your vids Spectrum, every time you post a new one it's a second Christmas.
I think idiot king was hoping the Romans would lose or be wounded enough that it would be an easy fight. Seeing how well they did he tried diplomacy hoping to avoid a slaughter (whether he knowingly surrendered or was that stupid idk). Why march then? Why not refuse? If he refused then the Romans would be forced into Caesar’s position later: fight or die, and the Romans would seem to do well in these scenarios up into the imperial era. Then after winning like they do in the OT they would go south with a Vengeance, more than prepared for a battle and more. That or this was made up for propaganda🤷♂️
"Anyway, the Romans win as they always do when telling their own history..."
I died

Been here since your ranking Roman emperors video and I’m impressed by the work you’ve put in these past years to do real history. Nice job dude.

Absolutely underappreciated , Hostilivs did so much for the Nation and the City .
It’s nice to see a more consistent upload schedule lol
I guess Hostilius had a hostile reign

In other sources I read that the war that Alba Longa avoided was again Veii and not Fidenae.

Your content is awesome dude, would you consider doing ranking videos at any point in the future?
Stand up comedy at its best.
Ave! Ancus Marcius.
Probably son of Cato Hostilius from Fallout new vegas
More roman videos please
hey for your english ranking, where would you put Elizabeth II?
É daqui que vem etimologicamente a palavra hostil?
That winning of the 3v3 duel is clearly fake as a real roman would have cheated way more
l miss the good old days before those damned Sabine women ruined everything.
