I'm onboard 100%. I can show up to a friend's house with a box of Flashpoint an say "Hey, you like Halo. Let me show you this." They'll know what most of the stuff is. If they grab an energy sword, they'll understand what to do with it. They get the shield mechanics from the game, etc. This is the type of game I'll use to show them tabletop gaming and then be like "Hey; Battletech/Warmachine/BLKOUT/etc."
I think this is the best thing that will come out of this whole Halo-Mantic partnership. Show the no. Gamers what we are into. Definitely will bring more to the hobby and Deadzone. All positive! Thanks for watching
It might expand the Deadzone player base but I'm betting on it being its own thing with its own fan base. Both box sets pass the xmas day test with flying colors, Mantics price point is pretty spot on, and you could learn the rules of the game while watching the demo. I think its gonna be a big hit with the greater market, like its not a regular miniatures game release its a Halo release.

Looking forward to Halo flashpoint, just heard about deadzone before.. want to play halo now.. so jumped head first in and i ordered deadzone 3ed starter. It seems realy fun :D probably going to be alone in my city playing it, but i have kids.. i will force them to play XD
I'm much more interested in the Covenant/Banished than Spartans. We already have Spartans at home... they're called Enforcers. It's those 4 Elites in the Spartan edition that sold me, because it suggests this will be more than tabletop PvP. I can see them doing tabletop firefight by adding small squads like 2 Jackals or 3 Grunts. Each squad is equivalent to 1 Spartan or Elite. And maybe bigger things like Hunters and vehicles are equivalent to 2 Spartans.
I agree, but remember the license is for 5 years. The Spartans are the real draw, I have aton of them to (Enforcers), but I can't wait for the Covenant. The iconic vehicles can be in Firefight. I think we a re a little ways away from Deadzone-Halo game, but it may happen. I can guarantee you, we will do it on our channel.

Ok, yes, it works for a skirmish game. Some people want a mass battle, like Mantic’s Firefight. But I like this as a skirmish game. The Deadzone rules will work perfectly.

Never heard about deadzone until the halo flashpoint demo. I'm planning on staying on flashpoint(+ mfuture support) due to the time commitment on other hobbies or responsibilities.
Deadzone is a great game with a tight ruleset. We have been playing it for over 20 Years, and love every game! You should check out some of our battle reports and see how the game is played. Halo will be very similar, but with a few twists.

As a Deadzone player and playing Mantic games for the past 10 years, this is a good thing. The rules are solid, and they spice it up with Halo characters and special rules. Good times! And it should be here by October.
I'll buy it. Main reason is my friends will play it. Other reasons are I want to support the IP's return to tabletop, Mantic seems like a great company, and the demo I played showed how quick and easy it is. Reasons I normally wouldn't buy it is it's skirmish scale - I like mass battle games. I'm one of the 'Halo Tabletop' guys - I got in on Spartan Games' Halo Fleet Battles and Ground Command early and got involved before SG's closure. I'm part of the community that's been keeping it going and growing. I'm looking forward to what's next for Halo and Mantic - fingers crossed for a small-scale ground combat game!

Just found this channel. We loved deadzone (we had campaigns with 10-12 players) but players eventually moved on to other games systems. Halo is gonna be a great gateway game for new tabletop gamers as the IP will draw them in vs like Deadzone..

Great summary guys, I also preordered the Spartan edition boxset + bonus Master Chief and agree its going to be a Segway game to get people into wargaming and into the Mantic Universe. If it is DeadZone lite mechanics then great. Additionally I think this miniature game will appeal to a younger demographic with the HALO IP.
Not sure about fast transmission. Tactician is number of Command dice you have per round. The dice give you ann extra move, shoot, activation, dice or a special rule. Its from Deadzone, and its a great mechanic
i keep hearing that Deadzone is mechanically great but my Day 1 xp with it wasnt great, and it seemed like literally no one in the Chicago Metro plays it. Im super hyped for this, a solid game, a recognizable IP people will want to play, a very affordable price point everyone who wants can get the Recon and have a single team of basically whatever they want, and organized play kits that will be cool (no idea what it could be, but any kind of free promo stuff you can only get for playing).. IDK, im really hyped for this game, and TBH theres basically nothing Ive heard thats going to make me jump to Deadzone proper when i could be doing this and actually finding opponents at an FLGS or having like a 100 person Adepticon or Gencon tournament next year
Which edition did you play? The rules are really good and tight. I got a few guys together and we play all the time. I would give it another look. Check out some of our Battle Reports, may help to see how the game is played.
Question about daeadzone clear LOS. Is it the cylinder or the model within that cylinder (base AND rim)? So say I can see the entire model and base, but say there's a sign or something that obscures the top right of the target cylinder, is that still clear? The rules on p12 seem to be iffy on it, the text may be interpreted as yes it is, but the green zone diagram no.
It is a cylinder. That's to encourage you to make a cool base, but not sacrifice the model getting hit for it. I do like the old LOS rules better, but this is what they went with. You can house rule it anyway you want. We do both, but decide beforehand.
Well, can’t disagree more. We have been playing it for the last 10 years, and we love it. I will say that it is not as popular as the games that are played at the stores you go to, which is probably 40K. Deadzone is the best Sci Fi skirmish game out there, and if this brings it to the masses, that’s awesome. More opponents for us!
Andrew has been playing Deadzone since he was 10. If you kid is into Halo, this would be a cool way to introduce them to Wargaming. Rules are easy to learn.

For the Spartan too. It’s not Deadzone light, actually has a few added rules. Basically DZ with extra rules and weapons

Deadzone will never be played so they had to move to a known IP I've never seen dwadzone on the tabletop and I play at 4 different flgs monthly
