In this video, see how the Michigan Wolverine football defense, under Jesse Minter and Steve Clinkscale, gameplanned and adjusted vs. Ryan Day's Ohio State Buckeye offense, in a game without HC Jim Harbaugh at the helm due to suspension. We'll see how they wanted to use split-safety coverages to get extra help over the top of star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and QB Kyle McCord, and how they employed alignments, stunts, and techniques to defend the run game out of those coverages. Then, we'll look at how Ohio State was able to attack those coverages, leading the two teams into a chess match as they each tried to disguise they're intentions and catch the other team in unfavorable looks, culminating in Rod Moore's final interception to secure the victory. This set up a trip to the Big-10 Championship, and eventually a College Football Playoff matchup between Michigan and Alabama, which Michigan won, sending them on to the College Football National Championship vs. Washington. - Спорт
On the first run play, that is number 5, Josiah Stewart on the edge. He's small for an edge, only 6"1 and he is stoning 6'8", 325 pound Donovan Jackson as he pulls. That's Michigan's strength and conditioning program in action.
@22:00 When Sainristil absolutely annihilated Henderson on that play I jumped up and spilled my drink. I didn't care I had to clean up the carpet, that play made it worth it. And Sainristil's reaction after the hit says it all.

What is really interesting, especially on that last game-ending play, is how egregiously the OL was beaten and more egregiously how much they held-and there were no flags. OMG.

Yeah, bad rep all around for the left side on the twist pickup. When the DE comes down inside the LT follows to deliver him to the Guard and pick up that DT working to the edge, but he steps on the Guard's foot, causing him and the Center to trip over each other.
Man this breakdown is incredible. Would love to see one on the National Championship game. Thank you for this! So much interesting knowledge and you really get to see how disciplined they are, and how they rarely make mistakes or failing to wrap up. Mike M, and now Jesse Minter are brilliant young minds. Can't leave out Clinkscale either. Really their whole staff is working cohesively and just performing at such a high level.
2 things happen on that deep catch by MHJ. 1) what a smart play by Will Johnson to drag MHJ down to prevent an easy score. 2) what an unbelievable catch by MHJ 😳!
For sure on both! Michigan's DE's were also key in collapsing the pocket and forcing McCord to step up, where he had to hurry the throw as the DT's closed in on him. Because of that he was rushed and underthrew it while also leading Harrison to the inside, giving the CB an angle. A better throw on the outside here and it's a lot harder for that CB to get him down.

That is a play where you're happy the DB takes the PI. It's just MHJ is such an alien he also catches the ball.

Yeah the score would of been 31-27 in our final drive where we would of had to play aggressive to score a game winner instead of milking the clock.
