I am the opposite ...blades with toe hang I miss right and face balance I hit my lines...i don't like to arc my putting stroke much because it feels a lot harder to be consistent the more I am opening and closing the face. I love the new golo 6 that is almost face balanced. The long black line against the silver plus the way it sits or hugs the ground makes this putter my favourite for lining up any putter I have ever tried. I don't think their is an easier putter to get the aim so accurate and quickly as the golo6
The feel on these new models is far improved. My first Scotty, that I truly love.
Interesting Dan. A couple years ago I moved from a mid-mallet style face balanced putter to the Anser / Newport 2 style putter. I picked the Bettinardi SS18. After 2 years of action, i felt like the face was a little too soft for the majority of courses i play and decided to make a change this year. The Super Select Newport 2.5+ (slant neck) ended up being a perfect fit for me. A little more firmness off the face, a bit more toe flow, and it sets up perfect as i eye my putts. Having had a few scotty's in the past, I find the new 2-step milling rolls the ball better. Interesting how a little change can make a notable difference.
A side note. I do like to use a line on the ball when I'm testing putters and in practice to ensure i'm rolling the ball vertical / on axis / end over end and striking the ball squarely. I've noticed other golfers during their putting roll the ball off a vertical axis due to the lofted face being toe up.

I picked up the 2.5+ and love it. I came from an old Odyssey White Hot #8 which their 8802 model. Needed the toe flow but also love the forgiveness. May change the grip though… standard feels small for the blade size.

I still enjoy and putt well with my 2018 Scotty Newport Select with 20 grams total weight. The super select sounded too loud for me, but it could have been the ball. It would take a lot for me to change putters, because I feel so confident with it. Cheers
Very interesting. I’m using my first Scotty, 2nd hand but love it, I gather that there will be a fitting of these bad boys at Ferndown soon which I will definitely be having a play 😊
I do like the look of the new offering from Scotty Cameron, the extra milling for basically a softer feel does get my attention, but I reckon it would not be as prominent with a softer ball. Dan with his v1x notoriously harder cover than v1, I have no doubt he can feel a softer face, so the dual milling does its job. Not so sure I would feel much difference on my Select M1 with my TP5.
Great watch , been a Newport 2 man for years until some swine removed it from my bag last year and then bumped into LAB while on a weekend break , fell in love with something that couldn’t be more different, still have my 1st one from way back when Tei3 but it can’t get the DF 2.1 out of the bag .
It’s so disappointing to hear Nick, I have heard lots of stories on this, poor Jordan is on his 4th range find as 3 have been stolen from his bag in the past 2 years
Just an additional comment as I took my Wilson Infinity putter (moderate toe hang) out on the course yesterday.
I would encourage everyone to get the free Ping App and attach their phone to their putter so they can see if they have an arc and how big it is.
I still missed some putts (hate those tentative hole outs) but basically had no putt go left of target unless it was a bad stroke.
So ... the Wilson stays and my Cleveland face balanced putter has just been sold on eBay.

Gotta say ... ball rolls beautifully off the Wilson, as it did with the Cleveland. So many good putters out there on the market these days

Interesting you feel you hit it left with face balanced / mallet putters.. I have the Scotty Fastbsck and even though I know it isn’t, I always feel like the face is closed, therefore putts go left.. recently gone back to a fang style evnroll.. 💥💥
If you like the mallet the golo 6.5 ( jet neck) has more toe hang than golo 6 (single mid bend shaft). The 6.5 opens and closes like a door for me which is not my preference

My Mizuno MCraft IV has that multiple milling face, is super soft yet consistent, solid in feel. Looks very similar to the new 2 plus. Hmmmm...
Okay Dan! I take one, 35 inch with a black grip..... Maybe grindworks putters are more loved by tour players meantime. But if Titleist is generous and sponsors one for a old man, i take him and used him! But now i will watch first Lester's channel, last 6 holes scramble to get inspiration not for my own game but for the fun and for good thoughts!

I love my newport 2.5 and would like to upgrade but to change to a 2.5 plus just doesn't fit my eye/style of putter I enjoy.
Good point on Face balanced putters ... for me they go left, especially short putts and then I spend my round fighting to compensate.
I was better off when there was no tech in putters because I got myself a face balanced Zebra decades back and kept buying the bloody things. Recently used the Ping putter App and confirmed I have an arc. Finally just got a Wilson Infinity with moderate toe hang. Amazing how it doesn't go left. Where were you all this time Dan?

Loved the review, I putt with a claw grip and prefer a much thicker grip, I tested the newest Newport 2 the other day, would putting a thicker grip on affect the performance, any thoughts?

I would love to use a Newport 2 but am rubbish so play a Scotty phantom 11.5 for more forgiveness and hope for the best
I love the Newport not Newport 2 as it has too many straight line as opposed to the smoother Newport
Great vlog dan i no doubt the scotty is a great putter but there is two reasons i would not buy one, 1 is the price 2 for me i am very happy with my ping sigma blade but saying that everyone to their own i not skilled enough to know the difference in the science of it only how i feel over the putt keep up the good work ⛳️

i don't like the deeper milling. like the sound but it muffles out mishits which you need for feedback

Definitely not. It’s a flat stick and if it works why change. You could use Newport 2 for 30 years with no problem.
It’s a good question, my last two Newport 2’s have been extremely kind to me over the years. For me personally, Golf is my job, my clubs are my tools so I will get the tool that will do the best job for me, just like a camera for filming or computer for editing. If I played golf as a hobby and for fun, I would change if I could see or feel improvements and if it gave me more confidence 👍

If I was in the market for a new putter which I may actually be after a revolutionary putting lesson last night I’d look at them (always been a bad putter and tried a new coach who go me playing a lot taller to link everything together). I just wondered as they’re essentially the blade of the putter world if enough changes between models.
@@stevewilliams190 To be fair, Titleist and most companies are not after people who have the previous models, they focus on the golfer who may be looking for something different after a few years.
@@DanHendriksenGolf I think that’s right. You could see in the video that you were virtually as good with your old putter as the new one. Have you ever tried fitting into one of their phantom’s or is the look of the blade more important having had success with it?
Dan....why would you not and why don't titlesit use a Sam putt lab ...what your doing is not a fit really is it 🤷🤷 it's basically here are some putters hit them and what do you like 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷 a company like titleist and Scotty Cameron I'd want a proper fitting on a Sam lab
Although a lot of fitters still use Sam putt lab it’s obsolete, Quintic is more advanced and thorough

Scotty Cameron Select £429, every other putter £200 less. Putting is all feel and finesse. I’m not convinced that there’s £200 worth of tech in any putter that can make up for the lack of feel, finesse and confidence. Forget the brand. Find a putter that works for you. That makes you feel confident and comfortable. Buy that one.
I suppose it’s like buying a car that gets you from A to B, they all drive and feel different, forget the badge and find the one that ticks the boxes for you. I drive a Ford Transit van, if I could afford a Mercedes Vito I would 100% buy it as it looks great, feels great, drives great and has the badge 👍

Mmmmmmmmmm I still think their other putters out there that could be better ...Scotty has got the market sorted as premium high end ...doesn't mean their the best 🤷
It all comes down to personal preference Peter, find a putter shape you like the look of, get the right setup for your stroke and stick with it 👍
for sure there are lots of choices. i think in dans case, he's established that the newport 2 provides him a high level of performance and confidence built over years of use. he will still have to work on the minor distance control changes due to the face milling of the "Super Select" lineup. however, i think Dan will notice an improved roll coming off the face of this new Newport 2 over older Scotty models. I did.
as you point out, any given putter, Scotty or otherwise, is not necessarily the best putter for every golfer. best fit is very personal.
I'm done with Cameron until they go back to clean, industrial design. Those cavity holes look horrendous. Plus their tour victories are down big time this year
Such marketing BS......let’s be real he’s talking about a pro golfer on a flat 10’ putt! I predict in two years we’ll be wowed by the ‘advancements’ of the next new model.

For a tour technician, he sure butchers the names of the putters. Calls everything a super select. Even the ones from 5 years ago
Really bad camera work...no close ups of the models when you are putting....have no idea how the different models look... waste of time. How can you ignore that????
