Fredericksburg, Texas is the county seat of Gillespe County, which means it is where the county courthouse is located. Fredericksburg has a population of about 11,000 people.
Fredericksburg is known for its German heritage and many residents speak German. The town is named after Prince Frederick of Prussia. Many of the businesses in the town celebrate their German heritage.
Admiral Nimitz, known for his role in the US Navy during World War II, was born in Fredericksburg. This driving tour passes by the museum in his honor.
Fredericksburg and the surrounding Texas Hill Country are popular areas for tourism in Texas. The area is known for laid back small towns, peaches, and wineries. There are also many outdoor activities available in the surrounding area such as hiking and kayaking.
