I'd take this in a heartbeat, but being in Europe the price would double...
Depends on the country but it seems like system 76 has normal prices in europe
@@igorkowalski2762 + customs + delivery = 2 x the original price.
@@kresimircosic3753 well thats not good
Tuxedo is probably best bet for Europe, they are based in Germany.
All Tuxedo Intel laptops can disable the Intel Management Engine via the BIOS and they are working on Coreboot.
Also has all keyboard layout in world with custom layout.
@@jsminipro I bought a Tuxedo laptop 2 months ago. 0 response so far.
Now we just need an AMD version with PSP disabled.
What's that?
@@hostgrady AMD's version of Intel's ME, if memory serves
@@CowBeatsCrow yeah I researched, do they still not have patches for that? That sucks
Side rant: I wish libreboot was still alive, they havent made a new version in like 4 years or something. Coreboot is great dont get me wrong but I would love to try a libreboot system with the security I get from coreboot which has regular updates
Well will get, I'm not completely free yet I've only converted windows systems so far
PSP is for Problematic Security Platform.
Hopefully more manufacturers offer Linux laptops. It's quite troublesome to look for drivers when you install it on a recent model of laptop so having a Linux laptop out of the box is a breath of fresh air.
Its breath of fresh air son.

Good concept with making reviews. I wouldn't mind more of this on this channel. Keep the good stuff coming!
I'm glad you did this video I have a system 76. System76 will be the apple of linux. I love my system76 best computer I ever used. So glad to get rid of windows.👍👍👍

Love your videos. Keep up the great work...
Worth consideration. Thanks for the introduction.
There’s not too many reviews of this laptop so thank you! I love the battery life of this new lemur pro.
Great review! I've been looking at getting one for a while now.
Good review!
Thanks.
Appreciate all your hard this laptop looks Amazing.
Such great content. Please keep uploading more.
great review!!! thank you
nice work, Pop is polished as, and rock solid, with tiling, love it ;)
I was waiting for this 💪
Great information, thank you!
I recently got the Oryx Pro, it is a beast! One thing I noticed also was the brightness was to bright even at the lowest settings. Here is the fix I found, first command finds your hardware, 2nd uses taht info to make it darker/lighter. It seems 0.5 is the lowest default you can go with the brightness keys, but I set my value to 0.3 or 0.4:
xrandr | grep " connected" | cut -f1 -d " "
xrandr --output eDP-1 --brightness 0.5
Very good! Most of your videos center on Androd or smartphone related issues. I would like to see more of these including an overview of Linux operating systems you suggest. I am looking into Fedora or Qubes OS. Some other creators have suggested Linux Mint.
Looking forward to seeing more laptops
Love your videos!
Thanks man much appreciated
Another wholesome video, you rock!
Awesome video. Keep 'em coming. 😃
I’ve always bought windows laptops and booted Debian into them ... I’ve always wondered about system 76 ... but I’m from the UK - time to check their website !
Thanks for this man! First time I heard of this company was from Richard Stallman, but never followed through to actually check.
looks fantastic! Now i want one haha. Deffo saving up to get one now :)
Thank you for all your amazing work my friend... this is my favourite channel by far and your contributions have continually inspired me to become an ethical hacker and think more from the outside looking inn.. :-)
Bro you're one of few light in dark period of tracking and surveillance...wish you very best of luck
Open soyce doesn’t protect you from surveillance Free Software does
Interesting piece of hardware thanks for the review @The Hated One
I just love how happy & excited you sound ^_^ God bless
Good Review, thanks for bringing this to attention. Always heard of Pop OS; I've used Arch, Gentoo, Peppermint, Mint, etc. -- But Pop OS, it seems fun, light-hearted, simple n' intutive, and just... Fun :)
A little correction about one statement in this video: you can have touchpad-gestures on Linux, it just depends on which desktop-environment or other software (window manager with additional software) you use.
cool cool i also bought one but added genome tweaks for the minimize and maximize buttons also got it for the same reason on the go super nice.. cheers
Great video!!
I totally fall in love with theses laptops
dude awesome video, I loved it.
Nice, great review, only the speaker missing as you realized afterwards.
I was looking for a Linux laptop for the future. I'm done with Win...
But I'll be a newbie to Linux so that makes it a scary jump.
I have heard of Librem and now I'll look up a comparison between to these two. Maybe you'd do one in the future?
Commenting to help boost! I might even make free ad space (non tracking obvs) for system76!
Really nice laptop! Might give it a look.
for the algo for the THO!! thanks man
Awesome, I’m about to grab a souped up Bonobo some time soon!
great review! I like POP OS
Here to comment so the algorithm pushes you. Keep going, king.
Please do a comparison with Purism. Their laptops are more privacy focused (from what I heard) and run PureOS. Also the laptops have killswitches.
I wish one of these companies would make their laptops such that the board can be transplanted to a high-quality case and keyboard (you know what I mean: ThinkPad). If it took an amount of work commensurate to a T60 FrankenPad (some filing of the metal chassis is actually required) then I'd still want it.
But, my understanding is, that's never going to happen, because these companies don't _choose_ their exteriors to be what they are, rather they get them as-is from Clevo.
@@smorrow I guess you could always use one of the smaller form-factor T60 chassis machines as a 'field device' for situations where extra durability is required and keep the daintier machine for less delicate situations. At that point you might as well just remote into a full-power Linux desktop/homelab and skip the extra expense of a 2nd laptop though.
@@smorrow these companies build nothing, they just buy clevo units and modify them a bit then sell to you as it like built for linux.
librem next perhaps!? also in your previous video i believe you said even librem 5 cant disable sensors but i read it can; lockdown mode
as always....thank you bro
Awesome work
Great Review. If you could spend some time on benefits of coreboot where you can remap keyboard.
I plan on switching to Linux because of all the good stuff it's got (Coming from a long time Windows user)! And it's so easy to use and way less cluttered than Windows.
@spitemim I plan on using Ubuntu as my first distro! I've also seen other cool distros like Arch and Debian that I'd also like to try out
@spitemim I'll take Mint into consideration!
Watching the keyboard flex while he narrates that it doesn't flex is pretty funny.
I'd love my keyboard to flex rather than getting dents or fall apart
You can use libiput-gestures for trackpad gestures. It uses the keyboard shortcuts for gestures.
Damn, these are nice. It'd be cool if they had a light weight budget option with lower specs tho.
probably this laptop i wanted the most, cant wait for system76 to able to ship to indonesia
cheers from indonesia :D
Great stuff! 👍🇬🇧
I just ordered one of these laptops the other day, can't wait to get it.
update?
@@someonehere4380 I ordered their System76 Gazelle 15, and what I paid for their base model that comes only with the 5 GHz i7-10750H 6 Cores - 12 Threads), but when I got it, I looked at what it had inside and it has
an i7-10870H CPU 8 Cores - 16 Threads in it. I love how I have total control over this device, and I'm super happy with my purchase. If you have anymore questions please ask.
@@Dillinger86 wow seems like they're really nice
I would love to have one of those!
my fav8 channel..thanks for awareness vdos
Great laptop from the looks and specs🔥
I'm waiting for them to do an all AMD machine, one of their devs said he was working on coreboot for AMD. With AMD's new releases I'd be kinda surprised if System 76 doesn't have a full AMD laptop within the next few years
To any market research folks reading this comment: This machine. Trackpoint. Coreboot. AMD. Please. I'd settle for just a trackpoint and a 6 core Intel CPU. Channel your inner tech hipster and make a modern x230.
why AMD?
@@nareshvasishth4034 cheaper?
check out their kudo
@@nareshvasishth4034 Cheaper but mainly because till the time u commented, AMD has more threads and cores than Intel processors does. It means when multi tasking AMD runs smoother and better, while actually maintaining a lower temperature.
With the 12th gen Intel chipsets this might change, we’ve got to see it this year.
Star labs have a laptop with AMD + Coreboot
Excellent. If time, would be great if you can have a look at Starlabs laptop as well
I love this!
What was the wallpaper on the laptop that looked like a command center? Looked awesome. Plus great video definitely have to get me a Lemur Pro now!
Gnome is not my cup of tea, but the machine looks really nice.
Hi
Then install a different DE?
@@delta-a17 Yes.

Looks like a sweet laptop. I like using linux on laptops, since they are not only for gaming, but more for productivity!
This was one of the laptops I considered when purchasing one earlier this year. I ended up getting the XPS13 with Ubuntu from Dell.
Certainly jealous of that full range hinge!
I changed distros on the XPS, but I'll have to check out that ME video and see what you have to say about that.
Would be nice to see Linux laptops with Ryzen in the future eh?
I run Pop OS on a Dell XPS 15 and it's awesome.
system76 has ryzen laptops
I have been using linux for a few months, mainly arch linux, but this is a right step in the direction for linux.
Any laptop that uses CoreBoot and can run Qubes is on my wishlist, this may make it on that list.
Excellent content
I think you also should check out Juno computers review by the Linux experiment. It's also Linux laptop but with dedicated GPU by nvidia. I think it's also powerful. :)
Here's for the algo, keep up the great vids.
I see you have the Purism Librem 14 in the video. Review on the way? Will you be using QubesOS?
This is cool, might want to get laptop with Linux now
6:30 actually Pop!_OS 20.04 works flawlessly without any additional tweaks on any modern desktop hardware. But you can always make things work even better for your workflow, that's why I love Linux so much.
Omg!!! Thank you!!!
This is extraordinary
What a lovely laptop! It would be awesome if these linux laptops take off and more software developers take linux apps seriously.
Please make a video about privacy focused nas and home network
great idea
@@pipeliner8969 thanks
Second this! With the rise of walled garden streaming and media services it's time to re-educate people on how to safely umm... 'acquire' their media elsewhere.
Great job system76!
love it!
Man this is awesome.
Love your stuff. I was just wondering about pop os and the security concerns of Ubuntu and the snap store. Isn't pop os based on Ubuntu?
Could you make an updated video on how this laptop has been holding up? I've been thinking of getting a new laptop and I've got my eye on this one.
This is a really good video. I am commenting to boost The Hated One channel. This channel is epic though. You should actually like. Its great man.
What is the model of your backpack? I loved it!
Will be a good idea for the next video if you show us, All apps that you use on this machine.
Last month switched from dual booting to wsl. Was fed up of booting again to switch to illustrator. I miss Xubuntu
Thanks for your video ! For the keyboard do they have English “US International” in Linux ? in order to write in French too..
Great review, definitely food for thought and I hope our comments help boost your awesome content :))
You should get to see Tuxedo computers and Slimbooks next!
Wow, that looks a lot like the Yoga Slim 7!
I use a thinkpad x230 laptop with the heads firmware and qubes os. Do you have any thoughts on purism's laptops which also support the heads firmware and disable the intel management engine?
Sorry about the complaint. I liked the fact that you highlighted the Intel security feature. However, does it include any other physical security features to aid security of the device besides software?
i mean its linux without the root password you cant do anything
So how's the speakers and the display? It's hard to tell through the window of UA-cam. I'm hoping pretty great. This whole package is very enticing.
wishlist added :v next I search for 'coreboot for old thinkpad'.. may algo raise you to to the top, aameen
finally got a new portable ultra book you like
Went on this website for the laptop. The highest price I found for there laptop is the Adder WS which can add up to over $10,000 with the highest specs possible. The machine looks like a Linux beast. Now to get someone cool enough to buy it for me.
I bought a lenovo thinkpad t61, stuck a retro rainbow colored apple logo on the back of it, and installed xubuntu. Works for the student that needs only word processors and firefox, and the keyboard is really nice! Payed almost nothing for it. The battery life is bad, but access to electricity is not a problem.
