Debussy is by no means a neglected or disregarded composer. He is seen as one of the most important influencers of classical music. And still, he is the most under-appreciated composer to ever live.
We are dealing with two different things: Ravel was a master in colouring and orchestration, but Debussy is the main developer of the movement and made a magnific use of silence and environment. Both are amazing composers, this is not a Liszt vs Rachmaninov competition.
I got a technical question! Around 1:38 and 1:39 i think a think rhythm is played than is written in any score -- the thing is, most other performers also do that. Can you explain how the "10" rhythm is played with the rests? I'm trying to learn it myself rn
Means "reflection in the water" in French, but you might already have guessed that
