That material they use on the earcups looks like couch pillow material and I actually WANT to feel it on my head/ears!

This is the exact decision I'm facing now between these 2 products. I'm not seeing Corsair HS80 sold around here but might as well order it online for that stellar mic quality. Although I hope other manufacturers would also get on that level eventually.
Switching from my Arctis 7 to the HS80, I need a good mic for work plus Arctis didn't hold up very well after a few years, there's an annoying rattle on the left side and if the volume slider is at max the left one isn't working. Not that big of a deal as it works as soon as I volume it down just a bit but I still wanna be able to hear a call when I'm not wearing them and such on full volume. Hope I'll be happy with the Corsair and that you made a good choice for yourself too!
I've had the Arctis 7 for 4 years and they way I've described the way they sound is they are almost perfect in a very clinical way. No matter what you are listening to you will hear everything basically perfectly with zero distortion at any level. It sounds really good but I have never been blown away by any of it. There just seems to be something missing in the sound that I can't quite place. After 4 years of this I've found myself really wanting a headset that wows me more, but it seems like every headset I have tried has noticeable flaws in the sound that push me back to the Arctis. Also, the game/chat mix has become something I have to have in a headset, and I really wish more companies would use it.
@@notghozt-_-6032 they don’t. It’s bullshit. Dude I just bought the steel series arctis 7+. They are beautiful. Amazing sound quality, very comfortable. You cannot use them with an iPhone. Since I started researching these headsets to decide what to buy I became totally fascinated with how different people perceive and prefer sound differently. It's almost like food...
Had SteelSeries for years and I don't recommend them the long term. I'm floored that the earcup joints didn't snap and break when you starting pulling and twisting them during the "durability" test. Those joints are incredibly fragile, and are a known issue all over r/steelseries and elsewhere. Additionally, the headband is comfortable, but will slowly stretch itself out over time to the point I'm using a giant binder clip to keep it "tight" enough. And the insides of the foam pads have come apart. All the software for the Arctis is great, but the hardware is just trash.
I've just had my Actis Pro break yesterday. The joints do seem fragile and its my first hardware faliure (just out of warrenty!). But a firmware update bricked my headset a couple of years ago and I had to get it replace. I 100% stand by the Apex Pro Keyboard I have - but I had a mouse fail on me too. I will definately not be giving steel series my money in the future - really dissapointing performance from a £300 peice of kit.
Let me tell you, my first headset was the arctis 7 wired, it broke after about 2 years, they jst stopped working, and after about 1 year the elastic sbowboard strap headband thing went limp, right now i have the corsair hs70 wireless and the Epos h3pro
@@CamaGoesGym I have tested the h3pro.. but that software is the most strange thing that has come across in my whole life.. small screen problems with disconnections.. weird crackles with gaming on it.. also the ear cushions and clamp force feels really weird to me.. hope you enjoy yours but men..really weird experience.. now considering trying the hs80 and the hs65 wireless
I really having a hard time.. I got the barracuda x from 2021 But the volume wheel been acting really weird.. below 80% it’s only sound on the left side which is quiet annoying when you making video’s and streaming sometimes.. the way they fit is really great.. I think it has something to do with the type of headband.. not that “ new type strap headband “.. Bought the Astro a30.. way to firm imo the cushions are also like bricks.. for that insane price.. was a big no The Corsair virtuoso rgb.. really small ear cushions.. me ears were touching the drivers Instant.. also the sound I found to be mweh.. even with EQ tune.. Logitech G735 - looks amazing absolute stunning but the headband material and cushions way to firm.. but damn does it look good.. also the software of Logitech is a pain in the ass with saying the headphone is inactive so u can’t make any adjustments with the ghub without getting that fixed ( Jesus know how ) SteelSeries Arctis 7+ Sounds absolute AMAZING.. but the headband is so tight even when I loose it up.. it’s a weird feeling.. like your head is balancing on a cord but not really resting.. ( weird to explain ) but the cushions and sound damn.. also they are really bulky my head isn’t that big after all haha ! Now have ordered the - Barracuda 2022 ( normal version ) - HS80 wireless -HS 65 wireless I hope to finally find my long term headset
because of this reivew im gonna go with the Corsair HS80, i play pc only, and my old plantronics rig800hd died a few weeks ago, and found this reivew, sold me instantly
I'm so happy that I am watching this review a day after I ordered my HS80 it seemed like the best affordable wireless headset in every possible way, other than multi-platform support! But as a PC/PS gamer that wouldn't matter much to me. Thanks for your amazing review!
I have watched a lot of your videos and I've only ever been intrigued by a couple of headsets, mainly the cloud II, and the hs80. I got the cloud II but now I'm gearing towards cleaning my set up which means getting rid of wires. So I'm going with the HS80. Plus I can't imagine the audio quality for the HS80 for doing voice calls which I do for work.
Buying the HS80 next week. Always been a Steelseries fan, and still am. But my son have the HS70 hes so satisfied with, so im gonna go with Corsair this time!
Hey which one do you think is better steel series pro or the hs80?? I’m stuck between?? Also what do you think about the apex pro tkl keyboard vs the razor huntsman te
Corsair HS80 +PLUS: Out-of-this-World MIC thru Wireless connection and RGB -MINUS: Lacks On-Board memory means EQ Profiles only on PC [VS.] SteelSeries Arctis 7x +PLUS: Longer Battery Life & On-Board memory so EQ Settings carry to ALL Consoles -MINUS: No RGB, stepdown in Aesthetics plus MIC while decent just doesn't compare to Corsair's. Was gonna buy SteelSeries but this review just won me over on Corsair's offering given its fuller sound and incredible MIC response. *NOTE: Techne, you should have millions of subs -cheers!
@@leungkyle8052 I'm no audio expert but I think the audio sounds pretty good with Techne's EQ settings. I actually got the G733 to compare and they sound really bad compared to them. G733 sounds as bad as my old Logitech G430 headset.
One of the things I love about the acrtis 7 is that you have two audio channels within the headsets, game and chat. This is useful for obs and streaming as you can adjust the levels for each. Do you know if the same thing is possible with the hs80s?
Not going to lie, my least favorite headphones will ALWAYS be ones with the volume wheel on the back. I use high back chairs and they always get bumped. I have Corsairs I love for most everything else but that's a huge sticking point for me. It's just super annoying to have a long session and the volume gets jacked or super quiet because I decided to stretch 🤦
Great vid, I bought the HS80 direct from Corsair based on your previous review and am very happy with them and they were over £30 less than Steel series in the UK when using a discount code. Just wish they had a bit more functionality / options to switch EQ with PS5, do you think this may come in a future firmware update?
@@DiegoLopez-bw4fp They sound great, very comfortable and really good 3D sound on PS5 - best headphones I have used personally for gaming. As I said previously it’s just a shame they don’t have any adjustability of EQ but apart from that I recommend them.
@@mdb9996 I face the same decision as you, the HS80 would cost me about 70€ less than the Artics 7P+, I’m just worried they won’t work good enough without Dolby Atmos
@@DiegoLopez-bw4fp personally I wouldn’t worry about Dolby Atmos, they give amazing surround sound with the 3D sound on PS5 and I think they are Atmos compatible on pc. The other great thing about them is their microphone is way better than Steelseries.
i'd still go for the Steelseries because of what that headset can do compared to the corsair sure the mic and sound of the corsair is better but what the Arctis 7 headset can do is so much better
I bought both to try them out and ended up returning one of them. The SteelSeries had great sound for fps games but the bass is lacking. When I attempted to increase the bass on EQ it creates crackling and static noise when I use them on my ps5 despite the bass not getting any louder. Also the mic is a big let down. My friends noticed immediately and pointed out that the mic was not good at all. However, the battery life is CRAZY good, no exaggeration. The hs80 has overall better audio. Nothing extraordinary but still pretty good. The ear cushions are tick and shaped the right way so your ears don’t touch the inside. Over many years this is the only headset I’ve used that doesn’t irritate my ears no matter how long I have them on for. The mic is AMAZING! My friends also noticed a difference but this time it was because of how good it is. My only complain would be the battery drains quick if you have the RGB light on and even with it off battery life is still short. Overall a great headset and a clear winner over the SteelSeries for me.
it’s time for me to get a new set headsets. but first I get my info about products from you . thanks for making it easier for me to choose . your number 1 on information . thankyou .
I bought the hs80 today. I is very loud! And the bass is good but my old turtlebeach 700 gen 2 sounded more crisp. i must say these are VERY comfortable
@@HasimFN Hmm Okay thanks for your answer. But i looked it up and many people experienced this Bug where the Volume is at 5% and they couldnt change that. i was thinking about to get this Headset. But i am concerned now... :/
The Steelseries is very comfortable and has clean nice sound. But it doesn't get that loud and the base is quite weak. And when you want to configure the EQ settings you have to switch back and forth from your PC to your console, it's a big hassle.
I had my Arctis 7s for about a year, 2 days after the 1 year warranty expired the micro usb charge port broke off inside. I put it a warranty ticket, sent in videos and pics and they denied my claim. The entire time I've owned them I struggled to get them to charge. Long story short I had a pair of Turtle Beach that lasted 3yrs and the Arctis 7 just barely over a year. Go with the Corsair, they use the usb-c charge port and their customer service is better.
For the HS80? I don’t have any issue. Everyone I discord with thinks I sound way clearer on the HS80 then on the other headsets. I have one friend who said the Pro Arctis sounded better to him but he is using a $20 headset so take that for what it is
@@BonanzaPilot Hmm Okay thanks for your answer. But i looked it up and many people experienced this Bug where the Volume is at 5% and they couldnt change that. i was thinking about to get this Headset. But i am concerned now... :/
Re weight and build, comparison on comfort: while it’s stated they are equal they are both loved, there are tons of unconscious behavioural indicators that demonstrate he prefers the Corsair. He points, keeps looking at them and leans towards the HS80 while he is talking about them both. It’s a behavioural indicator of preference. I dig it - I love my HS80
I tried the SSA7 and hated it. Felt really awkward on my head and I could not tell where the shots were coming from. There wasn’t much audio clarity which I hated. Would not recommend personally ~ from Me (some random dude on the internet.)
Excellent comparison. Thanks for all of your insight. This is a super tough call. That mic test is wild. I was waiting for you to say you were switching to the Corsair mic but you were already on it. :o unfortunately the SteelSeries Arctis 7X is non-existent in Canada ever since launch so I might be leaning towards Corsair after seeing this video.
Hey Techne, love your vids, your doing a really great job! Would you still recommend the Hyperx Cloud II in 2021? I need a new headset with good audio, good mic and it should be really comfortable.
Those HS80 sound phenomenal, btw could you do like a headset throwback review of some old gaming headset like the cloud stinger, that would be sweet seeing how good headsets have gotten in these 3 years
Just got the Corsair HS80, switched from the HS70 because the battery started dying just recently. I'm pretty happy about my purchase. The sound is fine, comfort is very good. The microphone is amazing.
@@haraldjohansen1867 btw is it the hs70 pro wireless? And what do you mean dying exactly? Sorry for asking I have the same headphones and I worry a bit
I can’t decide between Corsair HS80, Logitech G733, HyperX Cloud II wireless, and refurbished HyperX Cloud Alpha wireless. Help. They are all coming in around the same price right now.
Juicy video as you always, just asking, what is headphone would you recommend me for PC gaming (I don't do gaming on any other platform) with no budget. I am really serious about the comfort and the sound quality. Thanks so much if you are answering this. :)
I actually prefer the sound on the 7s a lot more tbh. The HS80s sound too muddy for me but just like you I prefer a cleaner sound. I like to compare Arctis drivers to Sennheiser because both do the lows decently but shine in the mids and highs. I will admit that corsairs mic is unbeatable but I rarely use headset mics as I have a dedicated desk mic so that's never a factor for me. Plus I exclusively use my 7s as my console headphones(I pretty much only play single player gsmes on console) since I rock a whole stack with my HE4XXs on PC for that true audiophile goodness.
Man, THANK U !! u make the video i was looking for. i only have 1 question, wich one has more sound power ? i have the hs70 pro wireless, and i want to make a little upgrade, i have this 2 options. Wich one sounds louder? Thanks & u win a new suscriber.
I bought the arctics 7 a few days ago and it came in yesterday night, I tried it and hated it. It was REALLY comfy, like scary comfy, so at first I was amazed but after getting some music on I realized the sound quality was SO BAD, my heart dropped and I sat there kinda mad, you can't even turn up the bass too high or it starts hissing and crackling and I'm not the only one who experiences this. I love bass, the arctics just ahd 0 punch for me, beautiful highs and mids though but not a lot of bass or volume. Bought the HS80 about 20 minutes into messing with steel series engine with no avail. HS80 came in this morning and its so much better. I am satisfied. no jumping through hoops for sound quality, great mic and comfy but it didn't have the game/chat volume sliders which im sad about, good features, looks cool, comfortable but sound quality/mic quality is just lacking and that's the purpose of a headset. I wish these two could just fuse and have hs80s sound quality and mic quality with steel series features and comfort.
after watching your arctis 3's video, I decided to buy them....boy was that a great purchase. in xbox parties the mic is good but in game chat its amazing! Audio cuffs are comfortable and audio clarity is great. Only game they're bad for is fifa.
This video was in my feed. Amazing video and review man love your vibe. Can you compare the hs80s to a Logitech equivalent? Would love to see that. Keep the content coming man.
I looked on your website and I did not see the Corsair HS80 on your top picks. Would you still recommend this in Dec 2021? Im looking for a wireless headset that does it all in terms of sound quality and gaming.
A bit offtopic: Is it me or has HyperX not released anything since they were bought by HP for 425+ million USD a couple months back? So atleast, why do you think it's taking them a while to release a new product?
Hey techne, my cousin really has been bugging me to get the arctis pro, but the hs80 looks REALLY nice also. Which one would you recommend that get. (PS I play ps4)
Depends what type of sound you like, the artic pros weren’t good for me at all because they are heavy on the highs. I prefer the Corsair virtuoso XT because they are more warm for lack of better words
, yeah it depends on what kind of sound that you do prefer and what kind of game you're getting immersed into. I own the Arctis 3-5-7 and pro wired with the Dac. The Dac lets u "fine tune" the sound to ur liking and like a MixAmp you can utilize the Optical input. But.... The 7 are versatile the USB c dongle which I use for mobile gaming. For me personally it came down to the microphone picking up background noises and having the capability of shutting people up in the chat
Good Sir Techne! Been loving your series and channel. I have a dilemma. I want to get a good comfortable but jack of all trades headset. I’m torn between the Corsair Virtuoso XT and the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless. Only reason why I feel like I’m having this dilemmas online reviews from the stores give them both semi bad reviews. I’m looking for the best headset for FPS like Insurgency at the same time play immersive solo games like a Tomb Raider. Which would you prefer between the two?
I have HS70 and Arctis 7. Arctis 7 are great but that mic is incredibly disappointing. Therefore I consider upgrading to HS80, even though it's a small jump.
I wanted to like the Arctis 7x so much.... But unfortunately I just didn't. Idk if I had a defective headset but I just had issue after issue with with them. Ended up going with the the Blackshark V2's and absolutely love them.
Dude I just bought the HS80 for 80$ with black friday discount! I was watching your amazing reviews of the headset and now Im so happy with how it sounds! Its my first wireless headset and coming from a pair of 2018 void pro im incredibly satisfied! Great job man keep it up!
Not related to this vid but I have a question, in your opinion which headset sounds better and best for hearing footsteps ? Logitech G Pro or HyperX Cloud Alpha? Without any amp, dac or software, straight out of the box with only 3.5mm headphone jack. Which one is better?(I play on mobile)?
steelseries arctis pro wireless,It is your favorite headphone or headset, do you recommend it, how does it sound strong or weak because I want to buy it, Is her sound strong for gaming? If you don't understand what I mean because I don't know much English.
I remember how I researched my gsp headphones few years ago. Numbers of models change, hype keeps increasing but I wonder - with all the improvement in headphones tech and so many new flashy. overpriced models, can I hear enemy footsteps in milimeter precision from other side of the map?
I would have liked to know before that arctis 7X works in every platform xd so the dongle wouldn’t be so long. Nevertheless, I bought the arctis 7 and I used them for gaming, chating, music and classes and I have to said, this headset are awesome. The sound quality is amazing compared to wired headsets and Bluetooth headsets I used before. I also love the friendly interface that steelseries engine has. For the record, I tested the mic inside Steelseries Engine and discord and I have to said that the quality is great, maybe not as great as the HS80, but it’s still fine and it offers a great noise cancelling. I recommend to buy it when there is 20% or 33% discount :)
Loving your videos just had to subscribe. Still lost in my choice of a new headset for the ps4. I NEED correct footsteps + direction. My TurtleBeach 800 is dying on me...sigh. Cant seem to find that headset which is perfect for footsteps
Don't mind steel series arctics 7, my is the very first ones that came out and I have noticed that if I move my head enough or move my jaw, I get torsion sound from movement which is annoying you might not get that when new but bare it in mind also if you love your bass wouldn't recommend if your that kind of user that loves heavy bass from music.
For Xbox only would you recommend the Steelseries 7X or even 9X over the official Xbox headset? I even thought about going Xbox headset but throw the Steelseries on it for added breathability and comfort. Thoughts? Keep up the great work
Keep in mind the steel series arctic have a major flaw. I've been through 2 of them in the past year and I'll never buy them again. Right where the headband attaches to the ear cup cracks the ear cup. No matter how soft I am with them just wearing them for long periods of times will do it as well I just noticed mine now have a crack from the hole where the headband goes into the cup all the way to the cup so dumb.....and they are arctis pros with the gamedac expensive for such a design flaw

@@gjc5750I bought the arctis 7+ the sound is good but my friends said my microphone sounds like microwave.
Just bought Artics 7 based on your video review, cant wait to receive it on hand!
HS80 are better in every way. Bigger drivers, USB type C and have zero white noise. Unlike the dated Steelseries that are way behind the times now.
i purchased my current arctis 7 because of your reviews. no regrets
Both seem great but for me, I think HS80’s mic just blew me away which is why I think it’s the better headset
Since I started researching these headsets to decide what to buy I became totally fascinated with how different people perceive and prefer sound differently. It's almost like food...
Laurel or Yanny.😂
I got the barracuda x from 2021
But the volume wheel been acting really weird.. below 80% it’s only sound on the left side which is quiet annoying when you making video’s and streaming sometimes..
the way they fit is really great.. I think it has something to do with the type of headband.. not that “ new type strap headband “..
Bought the Astro a30.. way to firm imo the cushions are also like bricks.. for that insane price.. was a big no
The Corsair virtuoso rgb.. really small ear cushions.. me ears were touching the drivers Instant.. also the sound I found to be mweh.. even with EQ tune..
Logitech G735 - looks amazing absolute stunning but the headband material and cushions way to firm.. but damn does it look good.. also the software of Logitech is a pain in the ass with saying the headphone is inactive so u can’t make any adjustments with the ghub without getting that fixed ( Jesus know how )
SteelSeries Arctis 7+
Sounds absolute AMAZING..
but the headband is so tight even when I loose it up.. it’s a weird feeling.. like your head is balancing on a cord but not really resting.. ( weird to explain ) but the cushions and sound damn.. also they are really bulky my head isn’t that big after all haha !
Now have ordered the
- Barracuda 2022 ( normal version )
- HS80 wireless
-HS 65 wireless
I hope to finally find my long term headset
was so torn between which one I wanted and was originally leaning towards the hs80s so that solved the toss up for me, thanks for the great vid.
because of this reivew im gonna go with the Corsair HS80, i play pc only, and my old plantronics rig800hd died a few weeks ago, and found this reivew, sold me instantly
I'm so happy that I am watching this review a day after I ordered my HS80
it seemed like the best affordable wireless headset in every possible way, other than multi-platform support! But as a PC/PS gamer that wouldn't matter much to me.
Thanks for your amazing review!
How are you liking your hs80? Battery life hold up?
@ heard there is a sound bug where the Mic Volume is really quiet. Is that true?
I have watched a lot of your videos and I've only ever been intrigued by a couple of headsets, mainly the cloud II, and the hs80. I got the cloud II but now I'm gearing towards cleaning my set up which means getting rid of wires. So I'm going with the HS80. Plus I can't imagine the audio quality for the HS80 for doing voice calls which I do for work.

Already bought HS80 after your review and just waiting on them to ship. HS80 vs G733 would be interesting to see though.
Does It sound good for music? any muffled sound? Can you try it on the bass? thanks a lot!
@@leungkyle8052 I'm no audio expert but I think the audio sounds pretty good with Techne's EQ settings. I actually got the G733 to compare and they sound really bad compared to them. G733 sounds as bad as my old Logitech G430 headset.
@@Yajiro8 thank you so much!
One of the things I love about the acrtis 7 is that you have two audio channels within the headsets, game and chat. This is useful for obs and streaming as you can adjust the levels for each. Do you know if the same thing is possible with the hs80s?
It’s kind of possible with the new Steelseries Sonar software. It can work for any headset really
Ordered the HS80s. Can't wait!
How do they work for PS?
@@mdb9996 how is it with ps4?
i'd still go for the Steelseries because of what that headset can do compared to the corsair sure the mic and sound of the corsair is better but what the Arctis 7 headset can do is so much better
This review was stinking phenomenal, keep it up man! 🙌🏼❤️
wow that hs80 mic sounds awesome, damm realy good for a wireless headset. Hope it sound good on ps5

@@Daughter-of-Palestine yeah
I bought HS80, Pro Arctis Wireless, and Astro A50's and decided to keep the HS80. Price wasn't a determining factor
I heard there is a sound bug where the Mic Volume is really quiet. Is that true?
For the HS80? I don’t have any issue. Everyone I discord with thinks I sound way clearer on the HS80 then on the other headsets. I have one friend who said the Pro Arctis sounded better to him but he is using a $20 headset so take that for what it is

Re weight and build, comparison on comfort: while it’s stated they are equal they are both loved, there are tons of unconscious behavioural indicators that demonstrate he prefers the Corsair. steelseries arctis pro
So overall is steel series better?? And what about the steel series pros in comparison??
Man, THANK U !! u make the video i was looking for. i only have 1 question, wich one has more sound power ? i have the hs70 pro wireless, and i want to make a little upgrade, i have this 2 options. Wich one sounds louder?

Good video blessings from Honduras I really love your honest reviews.
after watching your arctis 3's video, I decided to buy them....boy was that a great purchase. in xbox parties the mic is good but in game chat its amazing! Audio cuffs are comfortable and audio clarity is great. Only game they're bad for is fifa.

if you don't need wireless get the arctis pro wired
The Arctis 7 is waaay more expensive here in the Philippines, by almost 90 bucks

I like the Arctis headphones more than the HS80s in almost every category... except for the mic. Which is what won me over.
Is the artics mic that bad
Don't mind steel series arctics 7, my is the very first ones that came out and I have noticed that if I move my head enough or move my jaw, I get torsion sound from movement which is annoying you might not get that when new but bare it in mind also if you love your bass wouldn't recommend if your that kind of user that loves heavy bass from music.
I just bought a set of these and I noticed this! I think it might be enough for me to take these back and exchange them for the hs80s.
For Xbox only would you recommend the Steelseries 7X or even 9X over the official Xbox headset? I even thought about going Xbox headset but throw the Steelseries on it for added breathability and comfort. Thoughts? Keep up the great work
as always another banger !
