Just FYI, you don't need to jack the car up if you're using stock springs/struts and there is a way to pull the filter out through the gap near the brake fluid canister so you don't need to unbolt anything. But whatever is easiest for you!
Not sure if removing that bracket makes filter removal any easier than maneuvering it past the shock tower. Seems a tight fit either way. Will try that next time. Thanks for posting!
