~ Greg Koch ~
Hailing from the frigid wasteland of northern Wisconsin comes a beast the likes of which the world has never known. Greg Koch, a beast of both persona and guitar-mastery, couples his sickeningly magnetic personality with the guitar to create a style of playing that is both completely unique and deplorable at the same time. As a huge fan of the legendary Big Jim Hendricks Greg has taken all that is good and righteous about blues guitar and warped it into a ridiculously fantastic amalgamation of melodic defilement and mind-blowing creativity. Over the years Greg has shared the stage with everyone from Joe Bonamassa to Les Paul himself, never relenting, never ceasing to bring the ruckus.
I understood they have a broadcaster pup at the bridge and a twisted something or other at the bridge. True? Greg is too cool. Rock on!
If this is one of the new models, the pickups are custom shops. A twisted tele, and a broadcaster. Not the 2 american tele single coils as per outlined in your description and website.
American Fender Telecasters and American Gibson Les Pauls are my favorite electric guitars.
Two ends of the spectrum for sure. I would love to have a nice LP... but I'll never be without my Tele.
+Buelligan88 I know I'll get butchered for saying this, but get a high end Epiphone Les Paul. It plays as well as my Gibsons and sounds great. Stays in tune and the neck is great. Unless you can find a Gibson that's older, it just isn't worth the $2,000 more you'll pay. The store I deal with even told me not buy a Gibson. Gibson guitars today are not what they once were. Or find a Heritage. These are built by the old Gibson guys they got rid of because they had to pay them too much. Excellent guitars.
Mike Corey I've heard that many times. I've played a few low end Epiphone LPs with bolt on necks. Not impressed with those at all.
Boring
That guitar is beautiful. I love the wood grain guitars with no paint.
I own one exactly like that. love that guitar
the opening salvo of koch lickery ...
simply toneliscious teletwatickling goodness
I have two Rickenbackers, a Les Paul, a Strat, a Casino, a Martin, and a Gretsch, but my Telecaster is my all time #1 axe. My other guitars are great, but not like my Tele.
As much as I really like my American standard 2013 telecaster, it has the same neck issue as all of the other fenders I have owned. The maple for the neck is flat sawn, not quarter sawn. The weather greatly affects the tension on the neck, and I must readjust the truss rod. Hot and humid is a big change from cold and dry here in new England. Last week was 85 degrees. Today is 65 degrees. Time to readjust the neck again
Makes me want a Tele
We run through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and a Fulltone OCD pedal for dirt!
Oh man I love that natural finish on Fender guitars
love and happiness riff.....youre a bad man Greg
We pull the guitar right from the box and give it a quick string stretch before filming it, giving it no action or intonation adjustment. Tuning can be an issue, but it isn't a reflection on the quality of the guitar!
Man, that was the best review on this awesome guitar I have seen on utube. So good in fact, I am going to be looking to get one! Rock on!
Great playing! Nice demo of the different sounds! Thanks.
I'm falling in love with the sound of tele's ! :D
I have the same model Telecaster with the natural finish, but mine has a maple neck, which I think looks better with that finish. It's a great sounding guitar, and very easy to play!
Thanks for the info. I heard a lot about and so many players use this ocd. Sounds really smooth in this vid. Greg is one kickbutt guitar player! Rock on!
I love the variance of style in this review! Awesome job, and that is a GREAT guitar
They should also make that same model Telecaster solid body electric guitar with the Bigsby tremolo bar, called the Go-Cat-Go Telecaster. By the way, the bridge pickup is great for country and soft rock music. And the neck pickup is excellent for jazz, smooth jazz, Latin jazz and soul music. That sounds beautiful and jazzy. But I like both pickups, which is good for all genres of music.
It's really the most satisfying oxymoron knowing you can put anything in the hands of Greg Koch in it will absolutely sing. Not to belittle the axe at all. Tone is in your phalanges!
That's not an oxymoron.
what country is it from? amazing pickin as always...
damn that was some tasty playing
awesome guitarist
OPPS! Meant to say a twisted something or other at the neck position. Rock on!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!!!, Les Paul, SG, Tele!!! END OF STORY!!! KILLER playing BTW!!!
Greg is so badass! Cool guitar.
Haha "navi-ga-tableh". Great review mate.
Greg plays great, teles are great..BUT i'm happily distracted by the stack of Overdrive Specials!!! Is this where they all went??
Obviously, the rosewood fretboard is applied to the maple neck. Is the maple fretboard and neck one piece ? or is a maple fretboard glued on to the maple neck. Ive gotta own one of these. Rock on!
down to earth convo too
Nice guitar playing!
It's Awesome playing.!
Is that a little Al Green I hear in the first jam ?
"Love & Happiness"!
Less than a stellar review, which is appreciated.
I love that color is that the natural?
What amp was used for this demo?
it's a beauty.
Amazing demo!! May I ask what year was this tele was? I have the exact same guitar, 60th anniversary version 2011.
I think the maple fret board models are not one piece. It would be hard I think, to put the truss rod in if it were all on piece. Maybe someone else on here can answer this better for us.
you could have mentioned America a few more times ha ha,lovely guitar nice playing thank you
More lights please! :)
Great video but how'd you manage to get those dumble overdrive specials
A Fulltone OCD pedal!
nice
Can I ask the string gauge on most of your tele demos, and make please..
How many amps do you need? ;)
one good one.
Is it available in Salmon?
The Tele of Doom! hahaha
I want that Tele! The one that he has there. But can I do all that..?
does this guitar run good with 0.11 strings?
my 2013 is on its way. rosewood fingerboard. the body of mine looks alder like this one. not so figured as the ash.
update, it is an ash body, just not highly figured. mine is a handsome two piece body. I swapped out the black pickguard for a mint one. this guitar behaves very well.
telecasterbear I'd love to see a picture of it with the mint pickguard. I have the same guitar but haven't removed the black pickguard... yet. Was opting for red tortoiseshell but would love to see mint
how much did that tele cost?
Got a 1986 JAPANESE TELE...will put it up against any on the planet.* wish it was americana made, but so what ..I dig it tried alot of others..Still like my BLONDIE, its my flagship..
Is this a 2012 tele
Funny hearing him talk about the 22 frets...I hardly go above the 15th fret.
"one" Damn I should not respond on this thing when I've been drinking!
U must give a small stomp box citation that your using!, thanks
+panagranit pana in these videos he used to use at Fulltone OCD, now he uses an Xotic Effects BB preamp
Frans McCorkendale signitour telecaster. Lol
Greg seems very underwhelmed to be demoing a measly American standard
Good job Greg. Way to take one for the team buddy 😂
Looks like Greg doesn't like this telecaster that much at all...
Yeah hahaha
I was thinking the same thing. Never seen Greg display such lack of enthusiasm for a particular tele.
AIERSI rock
colllllllll guitar

Man knows how to use a bridge pup
Rosewood boards on teles are wrong on so many level. Totally takes the tele sound out of the equation
Agree entirely
I really like the look of it and I think it complements the twang
So why doesnt it do the same to strats?
rafasounds2010 um..strats aren't teles?
There's a Syd Barrett song called Baby Lemonade. It's a long guitar intro, all played on his white Esquire with Alder body and rosewood board. It always sounded pretty tele-esque to me.
The Koch ... on Tele ... Shut the front door it's game over.
What are you using for filth?
+700
I think about 500 dollars
Greg ids thinking- this guitar sounds like Sh*t!
Poly finish = "modern" lol
