    I watched this vid in 2008 when I was 13yrs old.
    My USA Std Strat ‘13 had yet to been made. Who woulda thought for my 18th bday I woulda saved up all my bday money to buy a USA ‘13 Strat !
    Kids dream come true.
    Here I am now in 2023 with my 10yr old strat looking back on how I dreamed of one day owning this guitar. I’ll never sell it. Wouldn’t even burn it to keep me warm for 5mins longer in a winter storm. I’d go out playing this beast till death brings me to stairway to heaven with my Strat by my side.

    Why innovate something that's perfect. There's a reason that people say Leo Fender got it right the first time. The fact that these guitar still sell with virtually zero changes since the original models is a testament to how great these guitars are.

    My American Standard Strat sounds as good today, if not better, as is did when I took it off the wall at the music store in 1997. I’ve never modified anything on it and even to this day, sometimes when I’m playing it, I am struck by how good it sounds…truly amazing instrument!

    in fact, when I fell in love with guitars, the very first model that brought my attention were not the tele, or the strat or a any gibbie. My very first love was the design of the jag and the jazzmaster. I still love my jag to death.

  • @hungerstriker27
    @hungerstriker27 13 років тому

    sorry for bad spelling. English isn´t my first language. I love how you can feel the love that bily gobbons love guitars. It could be his pearly gates LP, or his first one, gib melody maker, or the esquire, or recently the gretsch billy bo (In fact I think that the adaptation he made to the original bo diddley gretsch is perfect)

  • @hungerstriker27
    @hungerstriker27 13 років тому

    I love the simplicity of tele´s design. The fact that 60 years later, it´s still a must have axe for any guitar player is amazing. As for the strat, what says billy corgan is absolutely true ("The individualistic player") and jeff beck too. It´s the more versatile axe in the world. No question about it. In the other hand, fenders are beautiful designs, for the simplicity, but gibbies are gorgeous. There are the most elegant classy guitars in the world.

I'm inching my way into becoming a Strat player but still haven't worked up the nerve to go out and get one. I know what you all must be thinking, "Is he crazy!?" I'll get there, I just gotta get use to the necks, they sound just beautiful though.

    @Canadianspunge I guess, but I just like the vintage look of the 21 fret models. Mexican made Teles often seem to sound better than the American made ones too. I'm not sure why. It seems like you have better luck with American made Strats though. A nice plus with a Mexican model is that they're easy to fit with vintage parts and relic into looking like a dead ringer for a 50s Fender of your choice. You can't do that with 22 fret models though.

  • @hungerstriker27

  • @McKinoza
    @McKinoza 14 років тому

    Fender always comes out with new "Strats" but to me they all seem the same. You have the Eric Johnson model, John Mayer model, American, Standard, Highway, Road Worn and on and on. They all seem the same to me just different looks/finishes.
    Don't get me wrong, I play a Strat style guitar. I have Les Paul Epi. but I always go back to my strat style. But, those 2 are totally different from each other.

    What's the name of a song in the end?

  • @gmdinformation
    @gmdinformation 14 років тому

    @Canadianspunge Well the tension should be the same because the scale length hasn't changed. They just tack that extra fret on there. I never had any trouble bending up to an E anyway though. But then, I am a giant! :-)
    I'm working on converting my 95 MIM Tele to a 56 look (that was the 1st year for sunburst models). I intend to sand and refinish the headstock face and then buy a vintage decal for it. Then nobody would even know it was MiM if you didn't tell them.

    I'm sure there are experts who know how to tell if a guitar's finish or wood etc. is truly old or not. I'm just saying that instead of paying a couple of thousand bucks to Fender's Custom Shop to make a 50s reproduction for you that you could do it much cheaper by buying a MIM axe and doing the work yourself. People do it all the time.
    I suppose it would be much tougher bending to E with an 11. Albert King could do it, but he had railroad spikes for fingers.

    The fret board is a smoother than any other guitar because the frets are painted on.

    Gibson experiment with ideas like the Dusk Tiger, and FirebirdX, and people bite their head off. Fender re-releases the same guitar they've been making for the last 50 years with a few tweaks, and tout themselves as innovators. Fender guitars are great, but the name "Fender" doesn't come to mind when I think "21st century innovator".

    All of Gibson's innovations have been massive failures. The people at Fender know not to mess with the classic designs too much, because everyone loves the guitars as they are. Fender actually listens to their customers. Gibson does what they want, with no regard for their player's needs. The biggest difference is that Fender caters to the players and Gibson caters to collectors.
