  • Using the custom saber shop neopixel connector. A quick tutorial on how I do them. You can find the components on a few different website I mention in the video like thecustomsaber.com, saberarmory.com, and smugglers outpost on Etsy.

      Hey man I am sorry!!!! I have been away from my email and I dont get notifications for it so it will slip my mind some times. And yeah I have like 4 different ways that people try and contact to me and I dont get to them all. Easest way to contact me is here and Facebook. Thats why I don't like to add more outlets like my personal email. Especially if its just for questions. It gets out of hand and I am not good at juggling 20 different people asking me things at the same time form 4 different platforms.

    Awesome, thank you, I hear you use 24 Guage wire just on that pcb connector then from what it sounds? I unfortunately will be attempting to use the lit pcb blade connector on my MK1 because it is so short up in there so it sounds like I picked the hardest way to do things but I guess that's the way I do things. hehe If you have any suggestions on those let me know but I know you said you've never used one so I I get it. Awesome tutorial! Keep up the good work!

      Yeah man I have never done them before. I will eventually but its not something I am in a hurry to do. But you will need to do some research on it. Not sure if 24 gauge will cut it on those. You should ask someone who has done them.

    2 things. 1) what gauge wire should be used for the data line (Im planning on using mostly 28 for my build and 2 24's for the + and -) and 2) Im using a proffie which requires the negative to split in 2 before going into the board. If I use 2 negative wires from the pcb can I just put each one to their own pad? Or does the wire need to split off from one wire?

    • @NerfherderCustoms
      @NerfherderCustoms  3 роки тому

      When I use these TCSS I just double up on the wire for pos and neg using a 24 gauge and then my data line is a 28. For data line it doesn't matter. Not sure for Proffie but I believe the same thing. But for like say for CFX there are two neg wires that go to two different neg pads so that's why I just use two 24 instead one 22 and split it into two at the pad. Its up to you really how you want to go about it but general rule of wiring and there is a shtok wiring digram you can find, All neopixel and battery related like battery pos/neg, recharge port need to be 22 gauge for safety reasons. Then speaker and switches and stuff can be anything like 28 and up. Just follow the proffie wiring diagram in the manual. It list everything you need including wire gauge.

    Do you recommend silicone or ptfe, I’ve been debating using silicone as ptfe is pretty expensive. I’m using a cfx board and neopixel. Also I got a saber armory regiis diy kit and it came with 2 pcb connectors one that looks like yours with the pins detached and one with 7 pins and what looks like 6 leds on it. I am not sure if I need both or not

    • @NerfherderCustoms
      @NerfherderCustoms  Рік тому +1

      This is an older pixel connector. I mainly use neopixel connectors that have neo pixels on the pcb. But same principle applies. Personally I use wife from the custom saber shop. As long as your gauge is correct you will be fine. Personally I think it’s a personal preference. PTFE is just more durable for high temperatures. But if your saber gets to that temp then you got a problem lol. But I don’t like the way PTFE feels. I am not a fan of using it. But I also don’t like the flimsy silicone wire. The ones from tcss have been working fine for me for years. PTFE might be smaller even though it’s the same gauge so it’s good for tight builds.

    Is it possible to have a stunt saber with a neopixel blade? If so, do you just wire the connecter to the switch and battery compartment? Or is there more to it?

    • @NerfherderCustoms
      @NerfherderCustoms  3 роки тому

      No with a stun set up you are just wiring up a battery to a light. The soundboard is what controls the lights when it comes to something like neopixel. You basically need a driver for the board to read the neopixel data line. Almost every board that is neopixel compatible has a mute to my knowledge so you could have a stunt that way. But either way you need the soundboard to drive the pixel strip.

    • @NerfherderCustoms
      @NerfherderCustoms  3 роки тому

      Data line is extremely important if you want to do neopixel anything. It must go to the date pad on the soundboard. Use the wire diagram in the manual for the soundboard you are wiring up.

      @@christopherreid8370 Just used the diagram for a neopixel build on a GH in the manual. Its really easy. You're neopixel wires dont have anything to do with the speaker or a USB port. At least to my knowledge on a USB port. I never use those. Just a recharge port and I make all my adjustments via SD card. Each wire from your speaker goes to their own designated pads.

      @NerfherderCustoms  3 роки тому

      @@christopherreid8370 I am getting confused on what you're asking here. Are we talking about neopixel connectors or battery and recharge ports? And also if you have a removable battery you dont need a recharge port. If you use a recharge port you will most likely need a 2.1mm recharge port. Depends on what the chassis holds. Sometimes with goth 3D designs chassis they take a 1.3mm recharge port.

    can i use hilt side and blade side pcb from different brands ?

    • @NerfherderCustoms
      @NerfherderCustoms  Рік тому +1

      From my understanding all pixel connectors are universal with blade side connectors regardless of the company. The only thing I can think of is the issue of being properly resistored. Generally the data line is added on the blade side. So if the blade is made improperly then you could have issues. But yeah you should be fine with mixing it up.

    • @NerfherderCustoms

      No the ultrasabers obsidian is not compatible with neopixel. Your sound board needs to be able to support it. I believe ultra sabers has a new board that does support a neopixel set up but I dont think it has smoothswing. And I would highly suggest you just get the better end soundboards that support both of those. The ultra sabers soundboards are years behind in technology.
