As a church musician, I use to play drums for a cult. I left the cult over a year ago. Not only did the cult penalize me for leaving but they’ve been slandering my name ever since my departure. This video hits the nail right on the head. I definitely experienced the things this guy talks about.

I have left the church, I have opened up my eyes based on scriptures, I have tried to administer to my friend that is there, it didn’t turn out great, more of she’s defending the church, I pray that God opens her heart and mind to it
I just left a cult style congregation a little over a month ago. I had questions that got swept to the side. I was preaching sermons every Sunday at this church. I came to a disagreement with the articles of faith that was unbiblical. I questioned the pastor and he completely avoided my questions. Saying all that I’m having a very hard time trusting another man to be my pastor. This has truly devastated my trust. My faith and trust in Jesus grew stronger but my faith in man has subsided. Any help or prayers are greatly appreciated.
Hello James. Hope you're well. Thank you for your comment. I can relate to your comment. When my wife and I left our previous cultish church, we felt like we were mourning a loss. Am not gonna lie, it was hard. We have known people from the church for a long time. They were like family and we still miss the people and the community. However, we had to remind ourselves that doctrine is more important in church family than sense of community. By the grace of God, we have found a gospel based church and our souls are fed every Sunday from the expository sermons. My advice is to forgive those who offended you. When their eyes are open they will see the light. Secondly, pray for them. Only the Holy Spirit can open our eyes to understand the scriptures and the will of God. Thirdly, look for a gospel centred church home. It doesn't matter how small or how big. The more you are fed, the more you become like Christ. And lastly, trust God alone. Men will fail. But God will never fail you. Be wise like a serpent but harmless as a dove. Test every spirit and every pastor. If they prove themselves, then submit to them in love and humility. Hope this helps. @David19746 I told him I had a problem with the holiness standards. I was on my way to receiving a ministers license with this organization. I had completed all my coursework all that was left was to read the organization manual. And I got hung up on the fact that my kids couldn’t play sports, or participate in gym, or mixed swimming with the opposite sex. Also I couldn’t own a tv, like show me in the Bible where I have to do all this stuff. Granted I understand that we are called to be holy, but there is a thing called self control.

I guess I was selfish, I left the organization. But I couldn’t preach what I didn’t believe in. I’m a follower of Jesus, not a follower of an organization

I just wanna add that I think some of these are for obvious cults. Some cults are covert; they may hold to biblical teachings, but are rigid about them. They say "oh, by the way our amazing founder has accountibility too, in case you were wondering", but we never see his life. It's hard to explain, but things can be covert.
It's like 7th day Adventist. They are pretty covert. I am a sabbath keeper, and there are few other churches in my area that keep sabbath. So I looked into them because I was like "can I join and just look past Ellen white?" Nope, you can be a member, but you are treated like a visitor unless you say she was a true prophet. Some will say "oh, Desmond Ford doesn't believe she was a prophet, and he is still a member." But he lost his position in the church and was treated the way nonbelievers visitors would be treated. And they do teach some things right most other churches don't. But that's what makes it hard for them to break away. They see crazy sunday keepers like Kenneth Copeland, they see many of the churches rolling over for the covid agenda. They teach some things in prophecy correctly. But even if they taught 100% perfectly, Ellen White did get prophecy wrong, she did plagiarize and say it came from God. She is a liar. Yet you have to say she was a prophet of God to be a member. Which is an act of blasphemy, since by prophesying falsely, she makes God into a liar. So even if they were 100% right in doctrine and teaching, to make you have to commit blasphemy to join would make teaching 100% right meaningless. But they do have some false teaching. I am just saying even if they were 100% right, that one thing is enough to where they cannot be considered a true church.

The only thing that doesn’t tick is the sexual exploitation. But people are led to believe that only the marriages that are blessed by the leader are therefore blessed by God. There have been many couples who split up and connected with someone else to fit this criteria.
The church i go to now for mothers day they gave all of us a picture of the pastor and first lady and they had a love service for first lady and everyone got up saying how they praise her and how we should worship her for being a good woman of god. But i always feel the holy ghost in the church. Idk but god showed me two women there and a man in my dream they were going against me this was 2 to 3 months before i started.

Give him gifts and acknowledge him for his many years of service (that's not bibical). I called the pastor out about Christmas is pagan and no one knows Jesus's birthday. His reaction was he ignored my letter to him and I can tell they are talking behind my back being members stopped calling me. They all avoid any communication with me because I am not a yes sir and know the gospel. The pastor's wife told me that God wouldn't send someone else to tell the pastor what is needed to be preached or doing something wrong. God would speak to him. Her statement was totally unbiblical because the bible clearly states throughout all the people God used to warn a fellow follower of the Lord. I am so glad the Holy Spirit gave me discernment to get away from them. The elder had the nerve to send out an email to me asking for money to acknowledge the pastor's 30 years serving as pastor. I am going to email the elder saying that no servant is above another and he needs to read the book of Acts where Paul talks about never boasting about his serving God. That boast in the glory of his infirmities, persecutions, etc. That poor church is deceiving all the members with watered down gospel that is mainly about the pastor talking about his life experiences. Sermon only lasts an hour and half fluffed with gospel songs and coffee hour is no discussion about his sermon topics or focused on the gospel. Talks are about things of the world and most times the pastor doesn't even stay. Leaves out to catch the game or family get together.

The Board comprises of ELDERS from the community in which the church is located therefore. I have a friend who is stuck in a cult and hasnt talked to her family. The church is Voice of healing church. Any advice on how I can help her?

Sign 2: the religion tells you that you have to believe that religion to get to heaven.

The Board comprises of ELDERS from the community in which the church is located therefore. It is within their interest to make sure the Pastor (a servant) is kept doctrinally accurate and taken care of (welfare) That is why scripture says APPROVED, not needing to be ashamed and rightly dividing the Word
