I've been on a pretty tough academic grind for the last few years and I often find myself being kinda fed up with it, even though it always was my dream to study chemistry and be the smart scientist in a lab coat. I normally roll my eyes at inspirational quotes, but I love the alteration of JFK's speech on the Apollo program: "We do not do these things because they are easy, but because they are hard." If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth doing.

I’ve wanted to work in the games industry ever since I was first asked to research careers for school as a 7 year old, but studying it for 2 years at college, 3 years at undergrad, and now a master’s after an unsuccessful year of applying for jobs really makes it hard to enjoy. It’s still my absolute dream, and obviously the strongest artistic outlet in my life, but holy hell does turning your dreams into a career really ruin the “dream” part a bit!
Here's some ideas to help with your income streams - Livestream when you're packing boxes or doing busy work with ICK. You can answer questions and get a few donations (don't know if the ADHD would mess that up though) - Take pre-orders on the re-stocks!! If you were still designing the product then yes, this could backfire, but it's basically no risk at this point. - I don't really know how OF works, but I've ran subscription businesses lowering prices never stopped churn and never increased sales if you already had the right price point. - Promote your channel memberships a bit more. I didn't even realise you had it. Offer some benefits that don't add to your workload much, like have names in the credits, or view the video a day early.

if you want a legit tip for getting furniture, check if your council has a reuse shop. i work at the recycling centre for my council, and we have insanely high standards for what actually gets sent to the reuse shop, rather than just thrown in a skip to be mulched into new wood.

Sounds like you both started to reach the point of starting and running a business where the very hard part begins, you got customers and you got ideas etc, but you need to manage cash flow and put in A LOT of hours. Thats the true grind, untill you can start getting maybe investors and start delegating work flow. Also you just broke up, moved and are on your own both mentally and physically in a way, that takes energy and time too. Keep the grind and do what you want as much as you can and still have cash enough to live.

Ashley, you're still quite young and that means you'll have a lot of physical and emotional reserves, so you may never have felt yourself nearing 0% charge, but beware that burning out is a real thing. The more you deplete those metaphorical batteries, the less capacity they'll hold even if you let them completely recharge. I'm using a metaphor here but in a way it's actually literal. You can damage your body and mind's batteries fully draining them, the same as a phone battery. Please be careful! ❤️
Are you happy with the work. That is the most important thing. Running a business can present you with headaches. Stop for a minute and take a deep breath, it will help.
There is passion and there is reality. If things in your life are such a financial burden that you can't afford furniture, then you said it yourself, OF is the answer. Dreams are dreams for a reason, not everyone gets to live the life they want. You have the chance to live comfortably and dare I say, fairly easily with a source of income that could set you up for life. Don't back yourself into a corner where you look back in a few years and realise you threw away something that you should have used to it's full extent.

I live in an area that has a higher population of folks like you, and I have to check their ID for the product I sell, so if the ID isn't updated, they get outed. I never want anyone to feel uncomfortable or feel like others wouldn't understand, so you have helped me be a better person and have the tools to show compassion and understanding.
Having a great partner can be a huge help. Trying to do it all on your own is possible, and probably easier at your young age, but it’s sooo hard. Not that a great partner does the work for you, but they’re emotional and spiritual support, stress relief. That said, I know you’re going to do great. You have loads of talent and drive.
I would like to see a video of you assembling and painting warhammer minis. This would force you to assemble and paint your warhammer minis, which is a noble undertaking.
My wife launched her own cloth nappy brand 3 years ago and I know exactly what you mean about the development costs. Sourcing artists to commission unique designs, getting testers made and then changed to get the fit just right. Then minimum orders per design and size. You can't just say to your manufacturer "I'll take another hundred, but the next size up" - it's way more complicated than that. You're doing great - chase your passion and the time/money will be worth it. And don't forget that any furniture you buy for your filming studio at home, lighting, office desks, etc. get your accountant to use it for writing off some tax. What lens are you going to get? I need a better one for my little channel. You current one looks good already btw.

as someone gradually still exploring their gender I can say the trans tip videos are suuuper helpful and valuable to me! Excited to see what comes next! and yeah if I can add my voice to those calling for expanded sizing I definitely will. I understand there are logistics challenges to that though so not expecting an overnight change obviously :)

Trans stuff is my favourite subject matter, but I'm biased. I have to agree with some of the other replies here and say making videos about the product development would be great too. Behind the scenes of fashion development. Would also double as Ick advertising.

Maybe trans health like once a month just because I find them super helpful in my own journey💖 also, progress videos on the brand would also be very welcome! Lastly, if you can, I think it's worthwhile taking a salary from your brand, while I understand wanting to leave all the money in to help it grow, you are it's pilot and must be financially stable to keep it going! I don't think anyone would look down on you for doing so.

Ashley, you're still quite young and that means you'll have a lot of physical and emotional reserves, so you may never have felt yourself nearing 0% charge, but beware that burning out is a real thing. The more you deplete those metaphorical batteries, the less capacity they'll hold even if you let them completely recharge. I'm using a metaphor here but in a way it's actually literal. You can damage your body and mind's batteries fully draining them, the same as a phone battery. Please be careful! ❤️
Are you happy with the work. That is the most important thing. Running a business can present you with headaches. Stop for a minute and take a deep breath, it will help.
There is passion and there is reality. If things in your life are such a financial burden that you can't afford furniture, then you said it yourself, OF is the answer.
Dreams are dreams for a reason, not everyone gets to live the life they want. You have the chance to live comfortably and dare I say, fairly easily with a source of income that could set you up for life.
Don't back yourself into a corner where you look back in a few years and realise you threw away something that you should have used to it's full extent.

I live in an area that has a higher population of folks like you, and I have to check their ID for the product I sell, so if the ID isn't updated, they get outed. I never want anyone to feel uncomfortable or feel like others wouldn't understand, so you have helped me be a better person and have the tools to show compassion and understanding.
Having a great partner can be a huge help. Trying to do it all on your own is possible, and probably easier at your young age, but it’s sooo hard. Not that a great partner does the work for you, but they’re emotional and spiritual support, stress relief. That said, I know you’re going to do great. You have loads of talent and drive.
I would like to see a video of you assembling and painting warhammer minis. This would force you to assemble and paint your warhammer minis, which is a noble undertaking.

My wife launched her own cloth nappy brand 3 years ago and I know exactly what you mean about the development costs. Sourcing artists to commission unique designs, getting testers made and then changed to get the fit just right. Then minimum orders per design and size. You can't just say to your manufacturer "I'll take another hundred, but the next size up" - it's way more complicated than that. You're doing great - chase your passion and the time/money will be worth it. And don't forget that any furniture you buy for your filming studio at home, lighting, office desks, etc. get your accountant to use it for writing off some tax.

Perhaps you could ask a few friends to move the furniture in for you. You buy the furniture and your friends get to decorate your home. Then you treat them to a nice meal in your newly furnished home.
