Been taking estrogen for a few weeks now avoiding confrontation with everything that surronds it, not fully grasping how i'm going to change into a more feminine persona, which I lack in all aspects that are social. But am physically really in between in appearance. feeling more of myself than anyone I've been 'transitioning' into which is odd, since I genuinely desire to be a women but do not feel it
Been on for 2 months, and as a nonbinary transfem, it’s easier for me to not immediately go all the way on the social side. Both because I don’t feel that much dysphoria (it’s still there, definitely, but not debilitating) and because I genuinely long more for androgyny than femininity. That being said it’s getting hard to strike a balance where I’m actually doing something other than taking my pills and shaving (when I remember to ☠️) to transition, and sometimes the lack of progress feels a little upsetting. I don’t know how I’m going to convince polite society of a nonbinary identity without having to compromise myself. I’m in the perfect position to be practicing right now at college but I’m kind of just… not, not as well as I could be. My thought, I know we’re both watching a video on minmaxing transition but you don’t have to view it as a totality. What’s helped me in these last two months most, specifically with clothes, is giving myself an extra 10 minutes in the morning to just reeeeeeeally sit down and ask myself what I want to wear and why. I found that every time, the answer is always something more feminine than I would have worn otherwise. Layers of fear and shame etc make it hard to tell if I *want* to wear something feminine or not. Resigning myself and grabbing a more feminine pair of jeans or whatever always felt like a little piece of self sabotage. You should give yourself the time it takes to really analyze what you want to wear or apply this to some other aspect of transition. And really try to differentiate between “I’d be okay with this” and “I want this”, because for the longest time I couldn’t tell the difference. Boyhood’ll do that to you. Stay strong friend, and good luck 🏳️⚧️
This may sound dumb but just wait. You don't even really need to do anything to get more feminine, it'll come with time. But if you're really committed to becoming more fem asap I'd reccomend getting into skincare, make up and fashion. Oh also as a small piece of advice, don't forget to actually take photos throughout you transition. You won't be able to see the changes very well because they're gradual and your brain gets used to it but seeing how you looked a month ago can really make you feel more hopeful ^^
Thank you so much for this video, especially the measuring tips. Getting clothes is the next big item on my todo list so this was very helpful! I hope you make more long form videos. I enjoyed your humor and delivery. Cheers!
@ittybittyidiotkitty it certainly is and I love it. Everyone I meet thinks it's interesting and everyone who knows me has told me how much it suits me. I'm out here living my best life 🌸
Counterpoint, no matter how much I tried I couldn’t connect myself mentally to a name with a different start letter to my dead name because my family has called me “E” as a nickname my whole life, and keeping that part was more important than stupid people trying to guess my dead name. Also the rest of the name is different enough that no one would guess it lol.
Turn your dead name into a name-ish anagram and then from that use it as an inspo to create a new name from that root name (this should work pretty well when one can figure the anagram part but downside is it takes time even if you do create one etc )
Agreed! It also keeps things simple, my nickname with friends is my start letter, so for the people I'm not out to and the people I am, it's a comfy way to refer to me without outing me by accident. I value that, and keeping in touch with elements of my past I cared for, more than transphobes ruining my day.
my recommendation when you start hrt, start doing some exercises when you have some time. Stretch. Do a push up or two. If you dont regularly already. It hasnt necessarily aided my transition, but it certainly makes you feel better and helps your body and mind recalibrate with all the changes you experience.
I think it also helps with muscle entropy. I haven't done any exercises during my transition so far (22 months) and now i can barely carry a 5L water jug🥲 (i also get muscle aches from it for like 2 days after)
my parents named me one of the most stereotypical FTM name, but as MTF i think it's neutral enough, like Alex is quite femenine (IM NOT GOING WITH ALEXA)
15:10 Just to add here, if you are fortunate enough to have insurance, the doctor *may* be asking particular questions as a part of the dance with the insurance company. The insurance companies are looking for any reason they can find to avoid paying out money.
Stumbled across this in my recommended sidebar, good info and a lot of the jokes made me chuckle. Really good for a first video, looking forward to the next one!
I put on a dress a decade ago too, it was magical, changed my life really. I was 13 at the time and I just couldn't stop spinning. Hopefully I can stop boymoding soon so I can be happy...
Now hear me out on the chosen name, starting with the same letter. I dont have to change my signature, but also, they're close enough that when my girlfriend uses my preferred around my shitty family, they don't notice.
yeah, my names two letters off my deadname and literally couldnt care less what they call me as im anyhow clocked. love my current name and it means a lot to me, thats all that matters.
Yeah I did the starting with the same letter chosen name and it has honestly been really nice. Initials are the same, signature's roughly the same, so new name transition was smooth. Tbf though, I live in a progressive area so there isn't much transphobia, so I don't really care if people vaguely know my deadname.
My experience starting HRT was very fortunate. I lucked into having a non-binary doctor who themselves is on testosterone, so I got prescribed estradiol and spiro during our first meeting via the informed consent process.
For Aussie (and a few other locations around the world) trans women there is another option of a estradiol implant. Basically a sterilized pellet that lasts 6-8 months before being fully dissolved. They are awesome, requiring a small procedure that is about as invasive as having a skin cancer removed and can be done in clinic usually.
fuck yeah I'm slaying 😂 Also, I am a nursing student and am thankful that your injection advice is very correct. I will say that a few things to add off the top of my head would be that estradiol valerate is light sensitive so putting back in the box is good but if you don't do that make sure to store it in an area free of light. Also, scrub the top of the vial for at least 15 seconds and allow it to dry. Just as well when cleaning the injection site, start inside, where you will inject, and go around it in a circle moving out from the middle. Also for this injection site cleanse, make sure that you allow the site time to dry (not blowing, waving, or sitting in front of a fan). Also important for preventing infection is that you absolutely never touch the needle or base of the needle before drawing or injecting, also try not to touch the top of the syringe near the luer lock area, and never touch the area of the plunger that pushes into the barrel (the stick thingy that pushed the medication out not to get confused with the thumb rest area of the plunger ) as this is also shown to cause infection as bacteria from the fingers can hop on and work their way down the plunger before injection. Of course I am a nursing STUDENT and would recommend if you have any questions or concerns regarding injection/medications, to speak with the doctor who is prescribing this medication to you... or the registered nurses you see 😊
Thanks for the video, you did a really good job! It's the first one that's detailed enough that I can just send someone it instead of answering the same questions again. With cypionate, it's pretty much the same as valerate but provides twice as stable levels (7 day half-life vs 3 days). However, you also have to inject 2-8x the volume of oil for the same dosage because the pharma vials only come in 5mg/mL (instead of 10/20/40mg/mL). It also costs way more money (up to $200 per vial without insurance).
CAUTION!!!! make sure u talk to your doctor about dosage if they prescribe oral and you take it sublingual if the doctor doesn't know you're doing sublingual, then you might be getting up to 5x higher estrogen dose than you're supposed to and that's dangerous
Great video, I came here from TikTok! I really appreciate all the advice as I came out to my friends and started socially transitioning about 5 months ago and plan to start HRT soon!!!

You forgot the 4th option to get hormones: You live in the middle of somewhere (that somewhere is Florida) so you drive 9 hours to the nearest big city that isn't Florida (Atlanta), just to get put on a wait list and have the choice to either a) stay in Atlanta (hell) for a week or b) drive back to Florida just to drive to Atlanta again in a week. So you choose the second option but, Atlanta being Atlanta has terrible traffic, and you are an hour late to your appointment, and while you are driving back your girl brain says "hey, I can avoid the traffic by staying off the interstate!" and now you are in the DEEP south as a visible t-girl having just gotten a HRT prescription that runs out in two months and you'll have to drive all the way back to Atlanta again. Accidentally clicked on this while watching something else literally been questioning everything and thinking that I might actually be a girl then I hear this intro
oof for years id had an obsession with the name "jenny" and i was gonna make it my new name but my deadname begins with j and...you make a really good point lol and before you ask, no my deadname is not jesse
Everyone's circumstances and goals are different, I picked my name in second year (2020) having grown my hair out and started HRT with an informed consent endocrinologist. The choice was inspired by a non-player character in the first Fallout game. Half a year later I changed my name in the birth certificate, ID and all that jazz, and in order to do that, I had to prove that the new one would be suitable for my assigned gender, so I found some info that it was in some cases gender-neutral and found a way out. Otherwise I'd have to go through costly checkups and medical paperwork, then sue my own friggin' parents to have the gender marker changed because that's how they've been doing it in Poland since mid 1990s and there's still no gender recognition act, all efforts are blocked by catholic regressives (I'm not calling them conservatives because conservatism would be about keeping the status quo, they're in fact hell bent on reversing it). Rule #1 for picking a name goes too far IMO, though I'd argue against picking a different gender version of your birthname... it's a deadname giveaway. There seems to be a popculture-reared stereotype about trans women that they tend to pick a female version - Glenn, Glenda, Victor, Victoria... This is obvious BS. I use my name everywhere, online and IRL. Fuck assuming a double identity unless circumstances require that - unfortunately, a lot of us will have to lay low to be safe. Some clothes I keep, others got ditched or will get sold off because even though I really liked them and would keep them, I gained a lot of weight on HRT and my measurements changed very much. I get clothes from secondhand stores both brick and mortar and online, I've been in the goth subculture for 18 years now and I dress either punk-ish or nerdy, getting back to experimenting with alternative fashions. I took EV intramuscular to my buttocks for a few years and felt really nice on that, now that I'm fatter, I'd go subcutaneous. Cue the spironolactone and pickles memes, haha! You're cute BTW. I like your face and hair.
I have dozens of 3xl Metal Tshirts waiting for my sewing machine to turn them into skirts and dresses, I also "Bitch cut" ones that aren't so huge ( angled sleeve and collar removal) SO glad I majored in women's fashion design in senior year of Graphic Design, I still had no idea... Also, being a Trans Lesbian who was a Tomboy , made it even harder to figure it out, repressed it due to trauma for 25 years, and WTF! NOONE told me about dissolving the blue pills!!!

Definitely watch Azul Crescent’s video “The Trans Question” if you haven’t yet-it’s a really great resource for folks who are questioning.

Educational and entertaining! Loved it!
