I'm saddened when i hear anyone express the belief that the sabbath is part of laws given to the jews or any other group of people. The sabbath was instituted on the 7th day of the creation of the world and as such is meant to be a special day of rest for every race, creed and nationality on earth. Saying that keeping the sabbath is meant only for the jews is like saying that the law not to murder is meant only for the jews

Do a little more research and find Jesus fulfilled law completely. In fact, you and I break a commandment every day. It’s by Jesus’ imputed righteousness that any of us go to heaven at all. God bless.

rapunzelle longhair The Christian community as a whole does not keep the Sabbath because it was a part of the legal requirements of the Law, and according to the New Testament the Christian today is not under such legal requirements like circumcision, Sabbath keeping, even tithing. Instead, we are to produce the righteousness of the Law, the character of Christ, through the Spirit (see Rom. 6:14; 7:1-8:13; 2 Cor. 3:4-18; Gal. 3-5).
Further, there are no commandments or exhortations in the New Testament for us to keep the Sabbath. Rather, the early church gathered on the first day of the week in celebration and remembrance of the resurrection. This is evident throughout the book of Acts (cf. also 1 Cor. 16:2 and Acts 20:7). Acts 20:7 is the clearest verse in the New Testament which indicates that Sunday was the normal meeting day of the apostolic church. Paul stayed in Troas for seven days (v. 6) and the church met on the first day of the week.

@@DemetrioUA-cam AND the early church kept the Sabbath. Even the gentiles sought to hear more from Paul when he was preaching the word, they came back the next sabbath, almost the whole town! There was no Sunday keeping, you are plucking a verse here or there and changing the meaning, or you do not understand the meaning. It is true indeed that all over the scripture, sabbath is on saturday THUS a schedule was set. However, nowhere in the scripture it is commanded to on this specific day only. SABBATH primarily is WORSHIP day/ secondary REST. If we technically follow a time frame, different time zones alter the exact time of sabbath. For me as a Christian, we should, we must, and we desire to spare an exclusive day for GOD considering we work and do all our individual cares six days a week. Again it is not about the exact time, it is about having the time to and knowing to whom your worship is intended to.
As a personal conviction, the day of sabbath in the old testament was primarily commanded for our earlier fathers of humanity (it is symbolic), setting a day for rest and most especially for GOD. If everyone of us will present our preferred biblical passages, it will all somehow entangle our limited reasoning. The time we worhip I believe is not as much as important "TO WHOM" we offer our worship. Worship is intended to God in all the time of our lives.
Unbelievers can have their worship to their gods on mondays and it will not contradict the worship of God's Children on mondays (but ours is practiced on Sundays) as well, and everyday of our lives because our worship is INTENDED FOR JESUS. If we are to encourage unbelievers, the ultimate encouragement is to replace the god they worhip to OUR GOD OF THE BIBLE and not much on changing the time they worhip. For me worhsip is worship. Intended for our CREATOR. However, it is encourage that we have a unified time of worship altogether as we gather in fellowship with our LORD CHRIST.

So many that suggest Paul changed the sabbath just simply overlook the fact that the disciples kept the Saturday Sabbath 85 times throughout the book of Acts....
    Acts 2:44, 17:1, 13:13, 13:15, 13:42, 13:43, 13:44, 16:11-13, 18:1-11, 20:6, the of course Luke 4:16
"But they broke bread on the first day!" According to scripture breaking bread daily was common. Ie, "daily bread".
Jesus himself said until heaven and earth pass that not even one jot or letter shall pass from the law. Its simple there are 10 commandments that are given to all stop conflating this with circumcision.

Worshiping together on Sunday is not in any way a changing of the Old Testament Law of Sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. That Law still stands for those who wish to comply with it in their beliefs. However it is a Messianic Law, that was set for Isrealites. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, or Yeshua the Messiah if you prefer, did not do away with any of the Law's. Infact he fullfilled them, All. His glorious completed work on the cross completed and fullfilled all of the earlier prophecy, and also allowed those who were not of the nation of Isreal (Gentiles) to also have their Sins forgiven through repentance in Christs sacrifice, following his in structions on Baptism. As a Gentile and Christian I have no obligation to follow Judaistic Law. Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles makes it very clear that I am not under those Laws, as to be so would mean that I do not believe that Christ fulfilled them. He did. All of them. The Ten Commandments are important to try and live by, but we as fallen sinners can not possibly fullfill them, only Christ can, and did, as only he was/is blameless and pure. As sinners those Laws serve as proof to us that no matter how good our intentions, we fail miserably to uphold them, which is why we are only saved through Faith by the Grace of God, through the New Covenant made in Jesus' Blood. I celebrate and worship, and pray, and read my Bible every day, not just on Sunday, but on Sunday I rejoice, and break bread with, and Worship with my Brothers and Sisters, because Sunday is teh Lords Day. John Macdonald has done a wonderful video on why we worship on Sundays. I will try to post a link in the reply to this. Love and Peace to you. < Ken

I agree if you read my comment you would understand. The Sabbath instated by the living God YHVH is from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. He gave us all a day of rest. However as a member of Christs Church I also honour my Lord and Saviour, and whether you like it or not, there is a great deal of difference between the Church, and Gods people of Isreal. However, whatever you feel is right for, is indeed what is right for you, and whatever is right for me, is indeed right for me. But if you are truly going down that road then I hope you can obey all of the Laws like Circumcision, Not eating pork or fat, being obliged to marry your Brothers Wife if he dies, celebrating Yom Kippur, and all of the other Festivals and days of religious importance in Judaism. Do not forget either the importance of the Jewish calendar to calculate festival dates, it differs greatly from the rest of the worlds calculations. There are around 613 Commandments that not One living being, other than our Saviour could fulfill. As a gentile and fully baptized follower of our Lord and saviour, I know He and He alone fulfilled all the prophecy and the Laws, and His work is complete and perfect. For me, every day is a day of worship, and as Christ rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday on the foal of a Donkey, As he rose from the dead and Back into Life on a Sunday, As he appeared to his disciples on a Sunday, and as the Pentacost was on a Sunday, I feel I have an important responsibility to meet with my Brothers and Sisters on the Lords Day and follow his instruction. He died for me, so I will live for Him. Please bare in mind how Paul felt and what he said about the Judiazers that sought to change the Gentile church and tried to instate Jewish Laws upon them. Please read Galatians. Peace and Love to you In Christ < Ken.

Galatians 5King James Version (KJV) 5 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. 9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. 12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you. 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the
things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

I am confused, is the sabbath law was a shadow for the Isralites, then did the Sabbath not excist before Adam? Did Jezus himself not keep the Sabbath? In think the discussion ( if there must be one) is about what does it mean to keep the Sabbath? And the answer like with everything we can find 1 the way Jezus himself kept the Sabbath. 2 How the deciples kept it after Christ resurection. I do not know if this means thats is wrong to worship on sunday. As of now I do not think so, (but who am I) but i do believe saturday is the Sabbath and it should be kept holy in the way Jezus and his followers did, not as the Pharisees ( Sabbath for man and not man for Sabbath ect). If the sabbath was a part of the law just for the Jews then why did it excist before Adam? And why is a part of the 10 commandments, because the other Jewish laws that were created for Israel are not part of the 10 commandments? As you can see I dont hear Pastor John saying the Sabbath has changed from saturday to sunday, or the Sabbath does not excist anymore.

During the first century the disciples direct disciples has writing on this issue shedding more light on the life and pratice of the church. Nope, deuteronomy 5:15 says clearly that the sabbath was given to israel with a purpose:
And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
The fact that God rested when he first created the universe doesn't imply a commandment, the law came hundreds of years later to Israel, when the gentile church was born the epistles of paul mention all of the other 9 commandments except the fourth. I don't agree with pastor's piper answer as to why sunday worship because if paul and other gentiles had as custom to worship Saturday, it should continue that way but without the limitations and restrictions of the law of do and don'ts on that day as the SDA believe.

There was no need to explain “what” Christians are just cuz some people want to know why service is on Sunday. When GODS WORD is the keep the sabbath holy. Meaning SATURDAY when he rested, we should rest as well. Leaving all other days INCLUDING Sunday. To work. Which is why we were out here.. God worked for 6 days and so should we. Some people really just like to feel like they know what they’re talking about. No disrespect intended either, but a simple question does not mean you have to dumb it down for anybody. I’m sure if someone wanted to know what a Christians is they would just look it up. KEPP THE SABBATH HOLY!!!!!! Idk bout the rest of yall but I’ll keep my sabbath on Saturday. In the Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, we read:
    Q. Which is the Sabbath day?
    A. Saturday is the Sabbath day.
    Q. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
    A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic
Church, in the Council of Laodicea, (AD 336) transferred the solemnity
    from Saturday to Sunday….
    Q. Why did the Catholic Church substitute Sunday for Saturday?
    A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday, because Christ rose
from the dead on a Sunday, and the Holy Ghost descended upon the
    Apostles o n a Sunday.
    Q. By what authority did the Church substitute Sunday
    for Saturday?
    A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday by the plenitude of
that divine power which Jesus Christ bestowed upon her!

Pastor John lies; doing the accounting on Sunday was not a church service. Acts 20 took place on a Saturday night and the reason is clearly supplied - Paul wanted to travel on Sunday. He then also did walk the about 50Km from Troas to Assos on Sunday. Lying is nothing to theologians. No wonder Jesus was consistently negative about theologians.

No, it was not in the 1400s. It started in 75AD and again in 135AD when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans. They had a Jew Tax (fiscus iudaicus) on the Jews after that and wanted to wipe out Judaism completely as the Jews were so troublesome. Sabbath-keeping set the Jews apart. The Christians did not want to be taken for Jews.
