  • With records broken in Portland, Eugene and Seattle, the Pacific Northwest is sweltering under triple-digit temperatures the likes of which has never seen before in the normally temperate month of June. Lilia Luciano reports. Jeff Berardelli also joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss more.
Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

Seattleite here. We are used to a cool 80 degrees right about now. Not unusual for it to still be 50 or even as low as 40 during the night. I've literally never been in 110 degree whether before. and it isn't just the temperature, its the humidity, We have Florida's humidity up here. 80 feels like 100 most of the time. Our humidity didn't dissipate either. It's terrible. At least the BLM riots have subsided for the time being.

Ok people, get some water bottles put them into the freezer, let the freeze then put two under your armpits every time you heat up. Go to the dollar store and get some cold packs. Put them in the freezer and once frozen lay one across your head. Easiest way to cool down is put a water bottle or ice pack on the outside muscle of your arm for a few minutes.

.... shhhh it was like 57 degrees this am, opened all the windows..... so it is still hot but much more normal when it cools down like that at night.

Uh, yeah...It's not mandated for rental properties to have central A/C so none have them, and most permanent housing followed suit. Not going to spend $400 on a A/C unit for one room of my place just for three days...even if they weren't all sold out.

I thought it was hot in the South end of the San Joaquin Valley in Porterville, California at 107 F. They are hotter Seattle and in Yakima, Washington where I was born and Sunnyside and the Tri Cities, of Pasco, Kennewick and Richland where family live. Climate change is a reality.
