Warmag does great products, even if its ultimately just the convenience of marrying an existing product with an easier sheet than doing it yourself. They are on the expensive side, but I burnt to much money on trying to DIY it and having sheets that didn't work, so its nice to know they will actually do their job.
Shame they didn't give you a discount link! Actualy needing some more of them rn

Tbh if you compare it to other storage solutions like foam cases it's a lot cheaper. And the price of a normal plastic bin isn't much higher than theirs, so in that regard they are priced pretty fairly imho.

i diy-ed this concept for myself years ago and never looked back. genius use of space, putting a magnetic sheet on the inside of the lid, the magnets are strrong enough to hold small infantrie and such upside down, so just get the middle sized box for starting out and an aditional magnetic sheet for the lid.

These youngsters inventing a thing us old farts did decades ago. Ive got a beastman army (or daemons, havnt seen it in many years so cant remember) up in the loft. Magnets, magnetic paper, box, done. I remember people using magnets + metal biscuit tins. That all said convenience is a real thing. Sadly none of these bases will work for me, im all about Infinity (grew up from gw years ago). Zero of these magnets will work with the troops. Tags, bikes and werewolves maybe but not line infantry.

Heh, I still have four of the original GW cases, with the red foam.
The only reason I haven't switched to something better is pure laziness, but having the magnets precut to the right sizes should make it easier.
They will be put to the test with my old metal models though and the slotta bases they come on
And I do have my doubts whether they will be holding my old solid metal vehicles. (We used to joke about putting the dreadnought in a sock, bludgeoning the opponent to dead with it and it would come out dent free)
Being a mieser, I noticed that the big box has plenty of room on the lid for putting in another lining for a smattering of infantry

I got my first one of these yesterday, and love it. One thing that caught me out though, and this is only a slight issue, is the new magnet system will not work with models such as the Leviathan box models that are push to fit. The parts that push into the base stop the new style magnets from being able to be attached.
Small problem I know as GW doesn't have a huge amount of models that are push fit, but something to be aware of none the less. Otherwise, fantastic product, and I'll be buying more going forward as I need them!

Company states they can be cut with scissors. I was just looking at these wondering if they will work with bases for other games. I would try a hole punch on the magnet. Rub some marker on the protruding part, push magnet with the paper attached over adhesive to mark location first.

Hello there :) I'm sorry to hear about this, the main issue is that our "standard range" magnets, which you must be talking about, can only do so much work as the adhesive is having to stick to the rim of the magnet. Since the beginning of 2024 we've had a premium magnet that goes inside the hollow citadel bases. Seeing as you've been our customer for so long, I'd love to send you some of these to try out, for free ofc. Can you send us an email if you're interested? Thanky :)

Good overview of the product, but any chance of a drop test from a few feet up? That seems a bit more representative of the greater risk in transport over a few firm taps, plus it's the one worry I always see with these magnet setups that's never properly addressed considering if the force of impact is enough, there's nothing additional protecting them from impact damage.
Whilst foam has its challenges, several firms now have reasonably costed custom cut trays and there's enough firmness but compression ability that I've never had any significant damage from several significant drops whilst carrying around or knocking off of a shelf.

i had six RK Multi-case in black just filled with orc boyz - they would snap all to bits every time i closed the lid - why ??? because blue foam has a hatred of miniatures and is harder than a hard boy - also if you do not fill the case right up, with foam it can not be transported using the handle or shoulder strap - thus defeating the object - unless you have 25 foot of IKEA shelving to put minis, on , when they, are not in their box - magnetised minis in boxes are dust free safe do not need you to recycle money into foam, before you move them. and using a carry strap you can carry six boxes in one hand !!!

@@LizardofDoom Prove it or you're just pandering to your sponsor, I've seen these dropped, all the models inside move and break and the box itself breaks and is unusable after.
As you're so confident do a follow up showing the box, full of painted minis, being dropped on the corner, from waster height on a non carpet (as most gaming venues are not carpeted) and show what happened to the box and models inside. Bet you don't have the confidence to do it.

I completely agree with you about the zigzag foam cases, I hated when they went away from the old foam inserts (although I do own one of the zigzag cases, but I dislike using it for the reasons you mentioned). I own two or three of the older style cases and they've done me well for many years. As for the silicone nipple cases, I don't know what they were thinking. Something along the lines of "Why yes, we do sell a case you can only carry one squad in!".
These cases look like they solve a problem. That said, I believe there are other companies who provide similar products, although I'm not sure how the prices compare. As you said, the only downside i the sizing of the magnets, I'd have thought with a little planning ahead they could have avoided that issue entirely.

I like those round base magnets because they're flush fit so if you use movement trays, they'll fit just fine without adding height (unlike like the ones you put on the vehicles). However, some of us that have old model on slotta bases, it would probably be easy enough to cut them to accommodate the slot. Now the newer bases that have those posts might require a hole punch of other tool.

I use the silicone kill team case and like it a lot. In fact I'm looking forward to picking up the new expanded size silicone case.
    Pros:
    - Sturdy outer shell. Doesn't break or open when I drop it from 2 meters / 6.5 feet.
    - Flexible mini lock mechanism. The silicone sticks can wrap minis very effectively that stop them from moving almost completely.
    - Compact and small form factor
    Cons:
    - Opening the box upside down can cause half the minis to be stuck up and others down. Not optimal if you just want to look at your minis. Perhaps this doesn't matter as much if you use it to go play games.
    - Only works for minis up to 50mm bases
All that said, I use magnet + metal sheet at bottom of storage box for most of my mini storage.

I did it DIY with magnetic sheets, small neodymium magnets (which were superglued underneath the bases) and really useful boxes, and honestly it's not a big difference in price. A 9L really useful box is about £10, and on the warmag website the ferrous sheets are £5, so you're saving maybe £5 by doing it yourself, so seems like really good value to me, and I say that as someone who has done it myself in the past.

    • @warmagofficial4658
      @warmagofficial4658 10 днів тому

Heya :) thanks for the comments :) we don't get the best price for the boxes and as they take up so much space, and they take ages to pack/ship. It's been a bit of an experience tbh haha, as we mainly just used to shipping sheets and other flat items. For example, 5 sheets of ferrous/rubber steel takes up 180 times less space than 5 of the boxes does! So we've found that quite problematic. We've tried to make it as competitive as possible, and as we're a small family business, we just can't compete with big department stores like B&M and also places like Amazon! it's just not possible - I don't think it's a bad thing to be paying for convenience either. The sheets with designs on are very labour intensive as well, so they're as cheap as they can be really, and people do love them. We do actually sell the components ourselves, and we have been doing so since 2012 as "the magnet shop" - we don't sell the neodymiums because our whole thing as always been to make the rubber magnets tailored to fit the bases. Our new magnets that go inside the bases are super useful, if you want me to send you some I'm happy to do so if you can email us ;) Cheers!

As for the magnetic bases I used to put fishing weights onto the bottom of the bases (especially if they were a top heavy model) I actually did try casting the waste white metal into the shape of the holes in the slot bases but due to inexperience with casting molten metal I ended up with a nice little scar on my arm (it’s actually surprising how fast the metal cools …luckily) I could have got that to work but decided it was to much hassle.

Top tip, done throw out the left over bits, cut them up and used them on other bases, worked like a charm, it doesnt look great but really, when do you look under a mini, ironically the magnets haven't come away from the foam on these left over bits. But other than the tiny issue i cant fault the warmag magnet. I also got a nice wooden box off amazon 3

Heya :) thanks for the good review. You know what though, I'm realising recently that I think the metal trays are probs too strong for the magnets as they're pulling too much. I would say that metal is overkill, although we fully understand why people might want that peace of mind. Another thing that REALLY helps, is letting the adhesive cure for 24 to 48 hours before pulling at them. Plastic bases often have embossed branding/trademark info on the bottom and this can sometimes make it harder for the adhesive to adhere, but that was part of our reason for the premium foam, as it moulds to this hehehe. I'm so glad you like it, we've worked really hard on making it as convenient as possible. There's currently a discount running until Halloween 2024 which is WARMAG-7 - Appreciate ya! Sorry about the international shipping. We quite experienced in selling online and the cheapest we've been able to find is FedEx, and tbh their rates are increidbly cheap compared to say, DHL or UPS when shipping from UK to USA. One thing that will make a huge difference, is the volume of these plastic boxes. In America, the "Really Useful Box" we sell are actually a different size when it comes to their 4 Litre and 9Litre boxes, so we sell the sheets for these on our store, and if you buy those on their own then you should be able to make considerable savings on the shipping. It's not the weight of the shipping that is so much the problem, as the sheets and magnets are naturally very heavy. It's just the volume of these boxes as I mention, they just take up so much room that it's impossible to get cheaper prices. Thanks for the feedback :) Fulfilment within the USA should be on its way soon enough :) Appreciate ya!

Maybe I'm just being a cynic, but those boxes are available in B&M in the UK called "Really useful box" and that 9l one costs £8. A magnetic bottom on eBay probably costs about £8 for 10 sheets.
Bit of time and effort you can get exactly the same thing for less so essentially all you're paying for is the pattern on the magnetic sheet and the custom cut magnetic base stickers.
Really, really not sold on that at all. They're making a massive upsell on just pure convenience.

Heya :) thanks for the comment. Whilst I do really appreciate the feedback, I feel I should say some stuff though... Our 9L box costs £10.95 on its own and is £14.95 if you want a plain ferrous sheet, tailored to fit the box with rounded corners. I think considering B&M are a massive department store, and we're a small family business, it's not that bad really. Added to which we offer colours that they don't. We also offer the materials that can be used when taking a more DIY approach; we stock A4 (ferrous not magnet) sheets in our range and we have been selling to the community under the name "the magnet shop" since 2012. A pack of 10 A4 ferrous sheets costs £14.95 from us (0.75mmm thick) which I think is a very fair price. Of course eBay is going to have cheaper stuff but 9 times out of 10, if people are buying "magnetic" sheets, they're buying the wrong thing, because it's ferrous you need to attract to magnet. And of course eBay is going to be cheaper because it's full of Chinese sellers that can afford to sell things for crazy cheap. We created WarMag to give the community what they want and the response has been very good, I have put hours of my time into it and I still do each day, taking the job home with me. I know you can't please everyone, it's understandable, and everyone is entitled to their opinion... but I feel that I should probs reply based on what you've said, because it's on a public platform and it just isn't true that we are making a "massive upsell". Especially when you haven't seen our margins or overheads etc.. I will admit we've made things more convenient for people though! We spend a lot of time manufacturing most of these items, with the exception of the really useful box. A lot of effort goes into this, and much of the space in our tiny premises is taken up. People can easily go to Amazon or B&M and get the boxes elsewhere. The boxes we have don't sell that much and we just supply them as there was a small demand for them and many customers like the "one stop shop" system. Most of our customers just buy the magnets and ferrous sheets and get the boxes elsewhere, so we don't sell many of the boxes at all really. It's very hard to compete with big chains as most small businesses know. I think you'd probably find that if B&M sold Warhammer minis and other supplies, they would also be cheaper than the other things you'd get from smaller independent shops. We just can't afford to compete with them as they have massive buying power, plenty of storage space and many more staff members. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion though! I do appreciate the feedback, but if people make these kinda comments in a public place, I think it's fair to respond. Thanks :)

@@warmagofficial4658 @warmagofficial4658 Appreciate the breakdown reply from the company itself. It's also cool that you're taking the time to reply to both positive comments and criticism 😎.
I still don't see the appeal, despite the explanation you've provided and the cost breakdown, as even if we take away the pedantic pointing out of "Ferrous" sheet Vs "magnetic" sheet I can still price up a do it at home option for cheaper.
Ultimately, people will pay for convenience. Hell just look at just eat and Uber eats etc and I am super glad that people love your products. Maybe it's my DIY nature of doing my own jazz that is at the front here, but a £4 markup for rounding off the corners on a blank ferrous sheet is crazy to me now you've explained that bit.
Awesome your business does well, just don't see the price difference for convenience being worth it at all.

@@warmagofficial4658 I meant that as an international customer (e.g. EU resident) we would not be charged VAT (as per your FAQ), nor stuff like import duties so this falls to the carrier to charge. people have been asking, so I have bought some to check them out but they have varying depths on the inside of the bases. We could make hexagons that stuck to the rims of the bases, but this would add height to the minis. One of our customers has already told us they bought some of the premium insertable magnets we made, and cut them yourself to fit. if there are pegs in the way. What I can say though, is that the 25mm premium magnet we sell does fit inside the hex base that seems to be approx 30-35mm wide, depending on how you're measuring this. It's actually a great fit, just tested it on my desk as I'm speaking to you. This was a pre-assembled "inner sphere battle lance" - as you probs know loads of them have bits sticking out on the inside of the bases, but our magnets are quite versatile, so you can just cut them to size, but of course this just means that they won't be as strong. hello :) Thanks for this feedback, but would you mind emailing again please? I would be good to have a chat with you to see if we can improve on anything. I'm wondering if this enquiry was back when we had our old website, and decided to turn international shipping off because we weren't able to calculate it accurately, or fairly, on the (poorly built) website we had. The rates we currently have are the best we can get for the little amount of items we're sending. We've worked very hard on the new website, and it now has a plug-in that literally displays the exact rates we're paying FedEx, who are our new chosen courier. We just weren't able to find anything else this cheap and we are a small company, so we don't have massive buying power for such things. We'd been using DHL before and it was utterly expensive, and we've found that FedEx seems to be the most reasonable in price/reliable. One of the big issues we face, is when people are wanting to order the Really Useful Boxes from us, as these take up a lot of volume and the price just naturally goes up. I want to ask, when you say: "other people manage to ship globally without too much trouble", could you please give me an example of who these other people might be, and what kind of items they are selling exactly? I only ask because it would help us greatly, because I'm always looking for ways we can improve, and if there is something we can do that's better, I'd like to try my best to achieve this for the customers. I think that ultimately, heavy items (which rubber steel and magnets are ofc), and large empty plastic boxes, are just expensive to ship unfortunately. Added to which, we are a fairly small team. We do really appreciate the interest and I'd love to get you using WarMag. It would be amazing if you wouldn't mind getting back in touch, quoting this thread, so that we can discuss this further :) Thanks again for your interest :)

The warmag cases are a slightly nicer presentation with the printed sheets, and slightly more convenient with the sticky magnet inserts, but they are SO much more expensive than buying a really useful box, some magnetic sheets, and some rare earth magnets. Especially when the boxes they are sending are literally just the "really useful boxes" so all you're really paying for are the printed sheets and the magnets and the convenience.
I bought a bulk pack of "really useful boxes" and a pack of magnetic sheets last year, worked out to be about £6/box to kit them out to store my entire collection. Little bit more of a DIY option, but definitely something to look at for the more budget conscious!

hello :) thanks for commenting. You know what though... GW are annoying for that one! They made their "60mm" Citadel base to be 64mm, so we'd initially been hoping the fly base was going to be the same size, but the clear/fly bases are actually 60mm. The top area of the citadel is 60mm but the bottom bit is a larger diameter. But then for example, the 40mm citadel black base is even smaller in both areas. You could argue they're just rounding the numbers up to make it easier for people to remember/understand, but then why have one called 28.5mm? LMAO - Anyway... that being said, we defo gonna do a 60mm magnet for fly bases/clear ones, we have actually started planning this now so it will be released this year. We're not made of money so we're having to do stuff one thing at a time when we can unfortunately. Please rest assured it's on the way! Our 32mm standard range ones do fit the 32mm clear bases tho FYI - thanks again for the feedback!
