He's defo got the skillset...if he can get a little more meat on that frame, hence more power, he'll be a total package guy like, well, the ones who typically beat him.
While I like many feel awful for Sinner after losing 5-set epics to Djokovic at Wimbledon, Alcaraz in the US Open, and now Tsitsipas at the AO, it shows that he’s incredibly consistent and competitive against anyone at the Grand Slam level, and only loses matches to the best of the best. His time will come.
@Artistic Skillz he used to be, this guy was one of the last to beat Peak Federer and was just the 3rd guy ever to beat Nadal from 2 sets down (both here ironically) and that match Nadal wasn't injured or off, TsiTsipas was just on fire with his FH and backhand return that match.
I love Tsitsipas’ attitude right now. Seems like he’s all smiles, working his ass off and in one of those moods he gets into where it becomes so hard to break his serve. At the handshake he seemed to have a nice conversation with sinner too. If someone takes Djokovic out, I’d love to see Tsitsipas get his first slam here. I don’t see him beating Djokovic in the final if they both get there unfortunately.
Have you seen his twitter lately? He's still so full of himself and such a douche. He has a ton of maturing to do as a person, even if his game is very enjoyable and quite deadly.
He's being doing OK playing hence the "good attitude"... I'm not sure how much he'll change his bad ways tbh. Some people are just like that and there's no fixing it.
Both players deserved to be on the winning side of this match. Great fight from Sinner-a favorite of mine of the newcomers. Such a great tournament so far!
I've been enjoying it I just wish the best matches weren't in the middle of the night. I am curious to see how Rune and Tsitsipas perform going forward

I attended this match, and I became a Sinner fan after watching him play live. Amazing young talent. And tsitsi has improved so much in everything, of course that he is a top player and he was the favorite to win the match, although Jannik played incredibly good for his age. He'll have a great career if he keeps working hard as he is doing.
Tsitsipas is showing tremendous mental toughness. He loves playing at AO having reached the semifinals 3 out of the last 4 years including the last 2 years. If Sinner can control his various injuries he will contend for Top 5 rankings along with Alcaraz and Rune. Of course, let’s not forget about the original Next Gen trio: Medvedev, Zverev and Tsistsipas. I still see a Djokovic vs Tsitsipas final with the winner also getting the No. 1 ranking.
Tsitsipas has been going deep for awhile. He keeps working and has great results. I think that if he wins a G.S. soon, it will be a true culmination. He’s got the power and strength to match the best, but if it comes down to racket-handling, there are better. In this matchup, I think Sinner is the better racket handler. He’s like early Federer, imho, yes that good. But Tsitsipas got in some big strikes from his backhand, which is a beauty. The drop shots from Sinner were great. Tsitsi is an off-balanced server, but has a complete game and no big weaknesses. Since he has beaten Sinner, I hope he can take it further.
I’m a Sinner fan, but Tsip forehand is a rocket. Hits harder. It’s because Tsip came up playing Thiem in his prime which had insane forehand and backhand power before injury
The only thing I see where Tsitsipas can improve is his backhand.. he is too predictable on backhand wing ..only hitting cross court or in the center 99% of the time.. he needs to develop backhand down the line ...
Interesting that 95% of Stefanos' game consists of bludgeoning the opponent with cannon shots from the backcourt, when in fact he actually has good touch and a nice net game. Seems to work for him, but I wonder if he could find success with a more aggressive Fed-style game.
My opinion, I’m curious what others think: when you play Tsitsipas the dropshot HAS to figure into your arsenal significantly. He is too good from the baseline, his baseline coverage is amazing, he can track deep balls down and hit a winner from anywhere (partly because he has a tendency to park behind the baseline and go into defense mode, then switch up and hit a winner). Every Sinner dropshot in this highlight reel was a winner, and none were particularly awesome dropshots.
@@AinSoph73 so true. Sometimes I forget that disguise is just as important a part of dropshot technique as the actual mechanics of hitting the dropshot. A well disguised dropshot is frankly better than a beautiful dropshot that is telegraphed to your opponent. And Sinner’s were absolutely well disguised.
Ya tsitsipas doesn't generally seem to like to chase dropshots, which I think motivates his opponents to play it more. Even in his recent matches against Djokovic I see a lot of dropshot winners from Novak. As athletic as tsitsipas is, I expected him to be able to chase a few at least. Also he's gotta do something about those shoes. He seems to be slipping and sliding a bit much
ESPN has horrible cover of the Australian Open in the US and its only on about 5 hours a day and you can’t watch it anywhere else. So we are forced to catch up on youtube highlights and you keep putting the winner in the thumbnail. Have you learned nothing from the other majors who stopped doing that for a reason. It’s so stupid.
Tsitsipas really needs to improve his defensive slice backhand, it's floaty, short and not crossed enough, it's costing him many points at the highest level.
Tsitsipas needs shoes with more traction. He slips way too much on these AO courts and conditions. Such slips can easily result in foot or ankle injuries.
How to make Better Highlights: - Include points from the last set - Include the best points from the match, not just random winners - Include points from the highest-pressure moments of the match, not random selections
Both seem to play very well. It could have gone either way. Having said that, Sinner seems to have a bigger issue holding than breaking when he plays top guns .... something to think about.
