    I have a pack that looks like a Vietnam era radio pack....very similar to the Alice yet is padded on all 4 sides. On one side is a long skinny pole type pocket and on the other side a wider pole type pocket big enough to slide a skinny tent.....the front instead of 3 individual pockets, it has one wide pocket

    Watching you handle the pack looks light weight. Doesn't look heavy at all. Pretty cool.

    Sweet mod Bo. I like your philosophy on backpacking, smaller the pack the less you will want to bring. As far as sending pm on your phone go to your Internet app (not crome), youtube, in the top right corner click more, select request computer version, then you can go to that person's youtube channel, click on the about tab, then click on send message. Any questions feel free to ask. I do most my youtube on my phone. I do have one suggestion if you suggest a product on the Internet copy the url and post it in your description. Awesome video brother. -ATB Adam

    I did up grade to my heavy alice so can use with no frame then have the fix to use inside tie up to shrink it down for more and assault pack style use. I also have found way to do a flat board frame than use metal frame.

    Hi, thanks for sharing. Not too many videos on the Hellcat mod. I also done this to my medium ALICE, like it a lot. I also added the hip belt and 2 MOLLE Sustainment pouches to either side of the pack. Just have to figure out what and what not to pack. Have you ever carried a tent instead of a hammock in or on your pack? what's driving me nuts is where to put it! Sorry, unfortunately I do not like hammocks, never been in to tarp camping. Always used a tent, don't want to get eaten alive all night by bugs in the summer, and winters here where I'm at are brutal.

    • @thedoghouseoutdoors4116
      @thedoghouseoutdoors4116  6 років тому +2

      Jeff Richards yeah i have a tent, well I have two really, a 1.5 person and a two person. Personally I have got a down sleeping bag so it can pack down smaller and be lighter weight. So I stick my tent and my sleeping bag in my sleep system carrier. Just remember the more space you have the more you will be wanting to fill it with things you might not need. For me I am down to my shelter, my sleep system, a good fire kit, some kind of pot and a water storage container. A good flashlight and some back up batteries or back up charger, food. I try to go with the less as possible that way I can practice my skills and so I won’t have to carry so much weight lol. Thanks for watching!!

    • @jeffrichards5106
      @jeffrichards5106 6 років тому

      Thanks Bo, appreciate you replying. I wanted to have a decent quality tent that's lightweight. I would like something that isn't bright red, yellow or orange so that if I had to bug out. Plus I like to blend into the woods when I'm camping anyways instead of having some obnoxious color. I recently bought a Eureka military TCOP tent because it's woodland camo and a good tent, but it's quite heavy, almost 7 lbs. Can I ask what tents you use?
      I thought about placing the tent on the bottom but the M.S.S. sleep system is there now and with my sleeping bag (especially for winter) takes up the whole carrier. Thought about maybe putting the tent under the top flap of the pack and the poles inside the pack, and the stakes in one of the 3 outside pouches. Then if I want to bring either a self -inflating pad or a foam pad (like a Thermarest) where to put that? and not having my bag weigh a ton at the same time lol.

    Hi you should look up mystery ranch n I c e frame it way better system and it fits the both Alice packs and if you get the f i l b e ruck it fits that too although it is a little expensive it is well worth it once you get it set you can switch it to the big Alice or the small Alice pack that's what I did they also have a video on it good luck

    You wont get a better pack for shtf than an alice pack!

    • @cattledog901
      @cattledog901 4 роки тому +1

      There are alot of packs better than an ALICE pack for shtf. For the money the ALICE is decent but dont be a moron and think a military pack from the 60s is the "best" there is.

    I enjoyed the vid. Here is what I did. A MOLLE sustainment pouch will snap on to the webbing on each side of the medium ALICE only. You can spray paint the pouch or the pack for that matter. Check out my vid: Paint Your ALICE Packs. That pad is a kidney pad, not a hip belt. Guys of short stature who have not served get confused by it. Cold War Sgt.

      All my stuff is going to be a bit used, but I'm sure its going to have a lot of life left.
      Beauitful pack.
