- This 50 foot (15.25m) tall Intamin shoot-the-chutes water attraction is almost as well known for its fantastic eruption of Mount Vesuvius and destruction of Pompeii theme as it is for the giant splash that soaks everyone at the end of the ride.
This Busch Gardens park is located in Williamsburg, Virginia.

My logic of rollercoasters:
1: I look at the rude think I’m all tough, decide to go on it
2: I’m in the line and I start to get a little nervous, questioning if I should leave
3:We’re going up a hill and in questioning my life descisions
4:We go down a hill, and I’m just plain horrified
5: we get to the bottom and I’m like “That was awesome I wanna go again!”
Lauren Stone Literally me every time I ride a coaster!
Same
Same here
Omg meeeeeee
#relatable
I'm not a roller coaster person, but I love watching roller coaster videos
SAME LMAO
I'm not big on roller coasters, but I want to go on Kingda Kaa with my dad.
+NATURE LOVER King da ka isn't all that like everyone says it is. You feel nothing because it's literally a 7 second drop.
Riverwolf same
Riverwolf Similar story for me except I go the extra step and have become obsessed with visiting alton towers. I have been twice in the past 12 months and am going again in 4 XD
The drop looks so much shorter than it really is
Always do in POV I don't know why
It feels so much longer when you are on it and your stomach is dropping
Spike Jr Probably because when you are in POV the train of the ride conceals part of the drop. When you are there in person, you are taller and can see further out.
Spike Jr go to this place, ride a coaster in front, then watch a pov
Spike Jr but in all honesty, it's still a small drop. This drop is smaller than the drop of Dodley do rights rip saw falls ant islands of adventure.
I remember when I was 6 we got stuck inside this ride for what felt like 2 hours, and I was so scared of the music and fire. One of the worst experiences I had, but everyone got free gift cards. It wasn’t the escape from Pompeii, rather the stay in pompeii
That’s hilarious. I’ve always been terrified of getting stuck on this ride.
Bro no way that happened to me to but it was only 5 minutes
Well ifits called escape from Pompeii then not everyone's gonna escape
@@sadcowboysfan2114 same it was about 10
Sorry about that, although “Stay in Pompeii” is hilarious.
they tamed the fire . I remember when it first opened fire everywhere and the statue fell over your head as went under it but still a fun ride
mike williams jr Yes for sure. I remember riding it about 9 years ago and the heat from the flames was really intense, but tolerable. It looks really different here.
mike williams jr yes!! i went there when i was 5 and rode this. sucks they took it out it was the most memorable part
mike williams jr that ride scared the shit out of me
mike williams jr it's not real fire it's gas
mike williams jr THAT DAMN STATUE
I definitely remember this ride being more intense when I rode it shortly after it opened as a kid. Fire was mega hot and the other effects were more coordinated.
it is soooo hot inside
when you are there
ik! The fire... god damn those cool effects...
ikr
I'm going today, hopefully I ride this ride :D
I know right!
Mimi moon68
It is really fun you should so do it. Have a great and fun time!!
I'm glad he cleaned the camera
I remember riding this amazing ride back in my teen years when I was living in Virginia, and before I had to move back to New York, this video really rings a bell, and brings back so many good memories, I wish I could go back to Bush Gardens, and ride it's unique rides, and relive the good times.
I was there today, I love this ride, I am 13 and have been riding it since I was 4 years old. So many memories are connected, when I think of Busch gardens, the first thing I think of is pompeii
hey flaming, im 13, although ur probably 14 now. I love this ride
went on this ride with one of my best friends who hates roller coasters with a passion. she was nervous getting on and i told her she didn't have to do it. we were in the first seat, with two other people, and we were the only ones on the ride. at the drop she was freaking out but when we got off she was laughing her head off. just showing that this ride is for anyone who doesn't mind getting soaked.
I was about to say that this was a rip off of the one in seaworld then I remembered it was the same company
Good catch. You almost had a ton of enthusiasts chewing you out.
+Shark Man Yeah coaster enthusiasts tend to be harsh about getting things wrong. I'm guilty of that a bit XD
Coasterknight Well roller coasters are awesome soooo I dont blame them
yeah and someone called me an idiot too
What Viking's revenge?
Dang my mixtape gets around. They even play it it in the building now
Same
Yee McGee I
could you EXPAND upon that?
*applause for that*
just watching this makes me remember how it was hot as hell in there. love the ride but i feel so unsecured in it at the drop .
If you are sitting in a boat full of people and sitting in the front row, BE WARNED:
You will get soaked everywhere from the waist down @ 1:34.
Oh my gosh yes, this literally happened to me and I thought I was going to drown
I bet you can really feel the heat off the fire in there. I always thought this ride has a massive splash.
sportsygirl8 for others lol
It got so hot in there I got scared and started crying sksksk
I rode this only one time YEARS ago but I can still feel the heat of the fire
I remember the water splashing all over me, it felt refreshing after a long hot day at that amusement park.
@@Zkex I'm sure that it does. At least it's not a let down like Journey to Atlantis is. I thought I was going to get wet and feel refreshing after a scorcher at SeaWorld and just got a few drops on me and the water was WARM!
2:41
Welcome to Heaven
Haha
Nice
Obikitty x LOL 😂
I cant😂😂😂😂😂
LOL THATS WHAT I SAID MY FIRST TIME ON IT
This ride is awesome. I went there with two best friends a few weeks ago and there were no lines for it that day. We rode it again and again in the front row, and the staff let us stay in because nobody was riding it anyways. We got soaked, but that just makes it even better, and we didn't take long to dry up once we finally took a break from it
Ah, I remember doing this ride when I was a kid, back when my family lived close enough to Busch Gardens! I miss it a lot. This was a ride to always look forward to! I was never brave enough to do some of the crazier rides, but now I want to ride them so bad!
I got on this ride this summer my face almost melted off in that tunnel😂
😂
ikr its so hot 🤣
I was just there on vacation a couple weeks ago. I love the Escape from Pompe. Another water ride at the Amusement park was Roman Rapids. We also went to Water Country USA I had a blast there too. We were staying in Williamsburg, Virginia. We did the Colonial Williamsburg too. And much more. It was an awesome vacation!!!
I don't know why but I kept on laughing when he wiped the lens
how to you get permission to film? I always get yelled at
We contact the parks beforehand to ask permission and arrange a time and date to film.
okay. I'm going to Hershey park soon and wanted to get gopro footage of my first time on skyrush. couldn't ride last time because of my cast :/ thanks for the help!
At elitchs they don't care whatsoever... Literally, one of my best friends went on mind eraser (they could see his phone) and recorded the entire thing.
U can bring a GoPro but not a regular camera
+Bassin SoMD i know who owns the park. Well not personally but my aunt went to sxhool with her. Yeah Hershey Park sometimes will let ya slide but most of the time ehhh
I touched the statue once after it fell and music immediately cut and I got told to keep my hands inside the boat (I was in high school, but it was memorable!)
Lame lol
Sometimes I swear, the lift hills on water rides are slow af
They really are
Impressive theatrics. It really set up for a pretty tense drop after the intense temple action.
I went on this ride last year for my band trip and it was amazing
I remember going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg a couple times on my only trip to Virginia (so far) back around 1998 (I think), and my mom and I rode this a dozen times. I even got a snow globe from the ride. It looks just about the same now as it did back then. Thanks for bringing back some nostalgia! :-)
That seemed pretty non-chalant for an escape
Candy and Violence it’s a lot scarier when your riding it.
@@mcnoneya yea fr I remember when I went on it and went down the big slide my body lifted a little and I though I was about to go flying in the air
When I went to Busch gardens Williamsburg Virginia we sat in the front row of the ride escape from Pompeii and got very wet as we went down the drop to the water. Also the seat was a little wet.
Wow, my mixtape was everywhere in this ride.
Hahahaha
you took this from jake -.-
Hey Salt.!
+Paris WantsToHaveFun Hi.
No then the place would be full of ice
OOOOHHHH YOU GOT BURNED LIKE THE FIRE ON THAT RIDE!
Watching this and listening to Pompeii by Bastille @ the same time is so cool!!!
Always fun to start your day there with this ride!
I was forced on this ride by 8th grade classmates in 2004. It was the fire and it was scary. My body was shaking so bad.
ay99 Aw poor bb! I hope you enjoyed it though!
Same I loved the ride part like the drop (my favorite ride is the Griffin so it’s not like I am scared of the ride) but I hate themeing that’s the same reason I hate verbolten
ay99 music in the parks? I went there last year!
Finn C Thornhill what school are you from (I went to Luther Jackson aka hell).
It is definitely not scary. It is fun!!!
Honestly I love this ride but I scares me cuz no harnesses and the rails you hang on too and slippery
Was at the real Pompeii last week, sunny and 100F. Man I really could have used that splash zone then!
Now that is how you do a dark ride/log flume! Looks fantastic!
I went on this a few years ago and I remember feeling like I was gonna fly out of my seat during the drop
The world slowest list chain, is it?
Tyler Yong g
ElectricEditZ
Nah there are way slower ones, search up dragon mountain at marine land
nah it’s not that slow on ride
Summer of 2004, was visiting my brother in Virginia. Went to Busch Gardens. The rides had super long lines, but this one was fairly decent. We get on, and right before the drop, it stops. At first I thought it was a suspense element (I was 16 at the time so I was naive), but then 1 minute turned to 30 minutes, turned into an hour, by then there were news helicopters flying over, and all. The ride op came up the stairs, was able to move the cars back enough for us to get out. I vividly remember news cameras interviewing people when we got off, and people were literally freaking out, even though we were in absolutely no danger. Ahh the memories!
I love this ride, but they have real fire so it’s SO hot! The splash as the end cools you down though! Definitely recommend
Loved the ride, but I was let down by how short the ride time is. The Atlantis one at Sea World in Florida is so similar, but so much longer and thrilling. So it Mummy at Universal Orlando, also a similar ride.
Something similar to Universal Studios Jurassic Ride
Sasha xo This actually came first! Not made by the same company but Jurassic was made a year after this ride was opened.
Jurassic ride at universal-Orlando was a joke.. Disney World is/was better... they had less dinosaurs at the Orlando one then they did at the Disney one. And the movement of the dinosaurs were fake looking... I guess Orlando was putting all their time and effort in creating The Harry Potter world...
tony hernandez I was thinking of the mummy ride
The Jurassic ride in hollywood is going to change into Jurassic world so they will most likely change the style of it but keep it a water ride
tony hernandez jurasics better
I was inside the ride when it broke down once😂😂 scariest moment of my life
I love the backround music on the way in Busch Gardens & I love this ride
I rode rhis like 4 times its really fun! "Whew is it hot in here OH MY GODDDDD ITS FIREEEEE."
I went on this ride and when the door opened I wanted to chicken out but I couldn't also when you this in person you feel like you gonna fall forward
Great ride for when you first get to the park and need to stay cool for a while before the next water ride.
I’m really not a rides person, but when my family went to Busch Gardens (In Virginia) a few years back this was one of the rides I really enjoyed. 10/10 would recommend.
This ride has a really sad and deep history when you think about Pompeii..
Damn that's a lot of fire
Ah, I remember going on this a few years back, very nostalgic ride for mr, and I love the bridge where you can watch from and get splashed
I can’t believe this ride has been a thing for nearly 20 years🤯. I used to love in the area so I vaguely remember this ride.
We read a book called escape from Pompeii so that explains why I'm watching this 😊😊😊
Stop reading this now
No.
No.

The one part we're the ceiling is on fire it smells like straight up propane
Elizabeth Webb That is because they use propane Sparks to start the flames!
Elizabeth Webb "...we are the ceiling is on fire...."
I love the music in this ride!
I loved this ride so much!!
the best ride ever
I know i not the only one who would have cried😭😭😪😪😂😂😂😂
Why you cry??
@@tanishaseal8984 cuz dat ride triggers anxiety
I love this one :) can’t wait to go again
Got on this ride yesterday so much fun!
That ride is not very long . I hope the line isn't very long either .
Jon when I went the line was probably the longest line in the park! It’s very popular
That random person LOL at night the lines are short. This, it makes like 90% of the park leave and all waits are 30 seconds or less
I live here in va I went on this ride it's fun and I'm only 8!
This was the first rollar coaster i have ever been on i love it so much
I went back in like 2006 and i thought this ride was so scary. Just a 7 year old kid seeing fire everywhere, statues falling... i thought we were gonna die
hey man loved the vid . if you ever get a chance you should go to thorpe park theres a tideexactly the same only the drop is bigger and the splash is massive . keep up the good work
+Random viewer We go to Thorpe Park many times every season and although both are Shoot-the-Chutes attractions, Tidal Wave isn't exactly the same as this one. In addition to the size and splash difference, Tidal Wave isn't enclosed and isn't themed at all. Tidal Wave was also manufactured by Hopkins Rides and this one by Intamin, so there's really quite a few differences between the two.
+CoasterForce I wanna ve you when i grow up you have a fun life haha
Get wrecked
*Rekt
+Michael Carvajal rekt u chode
Hi
I cant ride these things now that I got CHF..but by just watching these videos is satisfying lol thank you to the person whos recording 👍😊
I remember when I was 5 or 4, I was to short to ride any rollercoasters, but I didn’t want to spend time in Sesame place! So, I went on this over and over again with my brothers and dad. I kind of feel bad for my dad! Anyways, I remember this as my 1st major amusement park ride!
Anyone notice that finally, A GIRL IS RECORDING!?
I love how I was just on this ride the other day and this is now in my
recommended 😂
On my map of Busch Gardens the drop looked like it's tall and I wanted to see it thanks for recording it :3
this is one of my favorite rides at busch gardens
I went here many years ago and they changed so of the placement of stuff but was my favorite ride when I went
How do they do the fire on the ceiling effect?
They spray propane fumes and then the spark a lighter up in that little nitch they have for it
Perfect end of day ride! Love spending quarters in the super soakers getting riders even wetter 😝
I've rode this ride probably like 50 times but never once did I ever even see someone using the soakers that would be fun though.
Short ride but looks fun.
This one is beautiful as well as fun.
How is one of the best roller coasters I ever went on i will never know because I’ve been on so many AWESOME ones but this one just had something special
Rode this ride back in the summer. Felt like I was going to die of heat stroke in there! It's literally 79 AD Pompeii 😂 decent ride nonetheless 😊
This was a cool ride. Not surprised it burned. The heat from the fire overhead as you came out and started down the chute was really noticable. You could also hear the gas burning in the fires inside.

I have nostagia of riding this in 5th grade in 2009 during an overnight field trip I have mostly good memories of that event.
If anyone knows the on ride music name please tell me. I ran this ride when it first opened and have had that tune in my head for years
How do u film I thought it says no cameras when I Went on that ride (also when u Go on that ride it is really hot and then u get to cool off)
I was at Busch gardens today, and the ride was closed for training. Next time I’m riding on it
Im not one much for big coasters and have never been on one but this one looks fun!
Considering I was really interested in Rome at the time I went to Busch, this ride was one of my favorites tbh
Fave water ride at the park.
I went on this ride over summer brake and it was FANTASTIC
Omg I remember when you use to have to wait at the top going up before going inside to the fire. I’m glad they changed that because I was scared of that more so than the drop 😩 I remember that fire use to dry my clothes right up just to get all wet again 😩😫😭
Love this ride
When I went on it the inside part was so short it was like 20 seconds
I LOVE THIS RIDE
I LOVED THIS RIDE OMG
this was filled before my birthday!!! cool
no problem
Still my favorite to ride every year since i was a kid
So I went here for my 8th grade summer trip and I went on this ride with 2 of my friends. It was really fun, but the thing we loved the most was going down and getting our picture taken. At one point we started doing the same exact poses. I also remember that one of my friends was recording the ride and on the loud speaker we could hear the word "Phone" and we all started laughing as my friend put his phone away.
I love going to bucsh gardens and riding these rides
I went on this ride when I was like, 7 and it was plain terrifying. At first I was enjoying it but what really shook me up was the dude on fire
Nostalgia. I rode this ride as a kid.
I Love this ride !
