They tried to stop the company's role in "powering" Israel's AI-enabled genocide. They've seen the tools from the inside and couldn't stand for it.

To fire you on what basis? Freedom of expression?
it's unlawful to protest on private property without permission of the owner. regarding speech, you can say what you want within limits without legal backlash; but realize you will be judged by what you say. if deemed inappropriate by your place of work, you can be fired. it's within their right.
Exactly and I fear many of these people really didnt think it through. How are they going to get another high paying job like google knowing their reference will be terrible? Worst for the ones that went on to get criminal records.

The economy can be fixed by taking back the central bank and printing money for the people/society again, something which can be done completely democratically. Money is infinite and national debt is a purposefully muddled concept of debt to other countries (which, you know, ideally should be paid back) as well as to central banks (which actually is impossible to pay back as it's been created upon "lending", and thus really is just a marker of how much you've inflated your currency), and used to scare people into complicity.
If you comply, that's when it gets really bad. Because these people don't stop pushing.

Only way I see Google paying for this one day is if people choose to create a new system that make capitalism and mega corporations obsolete. That'll be a long, hard process, but the seeds of change can be planted and are planted today through various organizations and resources. Top of the list would be One Small Town organization, based on the principles of Ubuntu Contributionism. See for yourself the website. Also promising is the film Zeitgeist: Requiem coming out soon (trailer already online) and a activist community-based program and system to engage with called "Integral." Keep your eyes open for this. It won't be endorsed by corporate media, politicians and the rich elites. But that doesn't matter - we already know they are not helping us, so we have to unite to help ourselves.

For some services it's quite difficult. Sure we could switch to Bing or Yahoo, but they also have offices in Israel. I guess we could use Russian or Chinese search engines, but we may need Google for certain things in our lives or jobs.

Using a product is not the same as directly giving billions of dollars in resources, knowledge, and technology to Israel. Meta is also supporting Israel's genocide by using AI to target Palestinians for being in the same Whatsapp group with a 'suspected hamas leader'. By your logic, Palestinians are also responsible for their own genocide because they primarily use Whatsapp to communicate with outside journalists, friends and family. Most people in the world who are online have an account with Meta or Google, or will need to use one of their services at some point for their job. Most people have learned about Israel's genocide BECAUSE of social media and despite the censorship by Google, Meta, and Byte Dance. It's not hypocritical to use an unavoidable and massively social media platform to criticize the platform.
