- Google fired a software engineer who caused trouble at a tech event in New York City that Google sponsored.
The engineer interrupted a speech by the head of Google Israel, Barak Regev, and was let go for "interfering with an official company-sponsored event," according to reports.
The employee was speaking out against Google's Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion cloud computing contract with the Israeli government.
He shouted phrases like "I refuse to build technology that empowers genocide" and claimed that Project Nimbus endangers Palestinian community members.
A campaign group called No Tech for Apartheid accused Google of retaliating against the engineer and said the fired worker was proud to stand up against complicity in genocide.

Which goes to show that one can protest against anyone or anything, except for Israel. No matter the deaths and destruction, the illegal settlements, the brutal oppression of Palestinians, as soon as any word is issued against it, you're gone.

Americans need to complain to our elected officials at the national level to protest this guy's firing. Companies such as Google that receive US taxpayer funds, tax breaks, and/or awarded US government contracts to manage -- should be abiding by the Constitution -- that means honouring our First Amendment. But if Americans don't complain, Google is going to skate scot-free. Tell Congress and the WH that American companies like Google must be subject to the Constitution or no breaks, US taxpayer funds, or ability to manage or participate in US government contract.
