- First thing Im doing in today’s video is heading over to my friend Betty’s house to pick up a gorgeous piece of Primitive furniture! Then after I get home my husband is going to help me hang the Primitive cupboard I shared in my last video and I’m going to decorate it and a dry sink!

Ohhh wow it really is gorgeous! The blue chippy paint is so pretty! The step back cabinet I was telling you my husband surprised me with is really chippy like that, but its black. Don't you just love these primitive pieces?! Of course the type cabinet I have is very tall, its very large, with doors on top & bottom.. shelves on top and just open space on bottom. I'm leaving the doors on top open to expose the shelves that I'll be styling and use the bottom to store extra seasonal decor. It almost touches the ceiling! These pieces are built to last, built so well & so sturdy. Ohhh goodness I'm so glad yours didn't end up by the road, and scoring a piece like that for $20 Is unheard of! Mine was also given to my husband for me.. FREE! I'm gonna hang an over the door hook rack so i can hang pieces on the door. I love the way you have the 2 pieces paired in that space. You styled it beautifully!! I'm so excited to get started on mine😊 I have a flour sack to hang on my door also! I just love everything you've done & excited to see the new piece styled😊 Sorry so long winded.. but the excitement!!! Lol

Melanie… hanging that cupboard was the smart thing to do. The floor display seems a bit busy for my taste, but well done. The dry sink is beautiful, but for my home I’d loose the flowers on the doors. They don’t match the period you are going for. Great job…

Love, love,love your cupboard/cabinet❤. It’s perfect for wooden bowls, grain boxes, mason and apothecary jars, coverlets, so many things! My husband says the only thing holding our walls up is all the holes 😂. Love the hanging cabinet too🤎🤎🤎

Your cabinet is absolutely perfect! I have two to hang and cannot figure out how to anchor them without pulling out drywall. Any suggestions to support their weight properly?
Hi Tracy, my husband used metal pipe hanger strip. It has different sized holes. He attached a few pieces to the back of my cabinet with screws, then he screwed it directly to the stud by screwing through one of the holes in the strip. This allowed us to hit the studs. I’m including a link for the strip. Maybe you have before but can you explain to me what’s the difference between primitive and antique? Thanks.
Hi Anne, the terms are closely related. Anything over 100 years old is considered an antique. Primitive pieces are also antique. Primitive decor can also be considered rustic. It’s usually pieces that are handmade, well worn and have a simple appearance. Hope this helps 😊
