Apple just wanted to put something out expensive so they can later make a v2 with more features but cheaper. What they hoped is that it would get enough attention for developers to start developing with it. That’s exactly what they achieved and now it’s time for the developers to develop the software that makes the Vision Pro actually useful.
I bought the oculus way back when. Loved it. Loved the idea of VR. Hated a big thing on my face hurting my eyes and head. Hated having to go through the process of it every time. And the hates outweighed the loves. I thought this would happen with Apple. Sure it’s better. It’s a lot better. But it’s still this thing you have to strap to your face. I think that this needs some years to figure out a different form factor and approach.
The Vision Pro isn’t a product meant for us consumers at all that is the big misconception. The Vision Pro is acting as the dev kit, for developers to eventually create the eco system needed to support a consumer headset. This development will take years and will involve a lot of close collaboration with apple regarding the vr headsets nessecarys features and specs that will be required for a more affordable consumers version of the headset. We will be apple vision return in the future with a much larger and completed eco system. And with cheaper consumer oriented model.
A PSVR2 and PS five will both cost 1050$ you can get AAA games, haptic feedback on the controllers and VR headset with the head set having an oled screen, with all and being 3.5x cheaper, the vision didn’t stand a chance
Entertainment Technology has progressed far enough. 5g’s fast enough. 4K has enough pixels. Video games have enough polygons. Social media’s got enough addictive properties. Go on a hike or something.
Yeah it’s a long term marketing game when you create a product that is overpriced and have an Apple logo and seems kinda useless unless they drop price after a few years and suddenly everyone will buy it.
Its funny. I remember these thints exploding when they came out. I was ahocked by all the praise these glasses received, especially when they were objectively worse pair of google glasses that came out and flopped years prior. Im actually glad to see these floo and the extreme mind rot praise they reciebed were just from sycophants... It just sucks they are journalists.
The problem is everyone has a hand in the melting pot of innovation. One guy wants to make tripple the proffit off the lenses while another company wants to make double the inverstment with the cpu in it and so on with a few dozen pieces. As he said with the price it was immediately locked out budget wise for most people. You can get a fully functional car for the price of the hedset. Only difference is a car can be used to make money. So unless you play the influencer angle the hedset is just not practical.
Then why did they market it to consumers and not developers? I've seen a lot of ads for it, most were just like the one in this very video. It's just people doing stupid shit with basic apps with their friends and family. Not really a "developer" vibe. We don't have to talk able the pro versions of iPhones. Everyone knows only developers use pro phones.
@@corwinzynMost apple products market pro as upgraded version. So yes majority of pro products are for general consumers yet for the Apple Vision Pro it was focused on devs yet the also wanted to market it to rich retards.
No it wasn't, this is legitimately a straight up lie. Not only was it marketed to the average consumer, but I don't think anywhere on the official Apple site does it say it was built for developers. It's just overpriced, overhyped, and underdeveloped tech wrapped in a fancy sleek package. Like 90% of Apple products.
This is deceptive. Not that I’m not interested in dogging on Apple, this just isn’t really reflective of the actual reception and sales of the Vision Pro. They did not cancel it, and they sold around 200k.
They cancelled an updated version they were working on and slashed production in half to desperately save any funds in the project. They essentially killed it, don't know what you are talking about. Also they sold a good amount more than 200,000. Still not nearly enough and a flop, you have to understand how big Apple is.
Nobody wants to strap something to their face. I can barely get an hour with headphones on, and they think I'm going to wear this. Could you imagine women who wear makeup everyday buying this? This isn't a device that's on the same level as a smartphone. Smartphones didn't even take off right away because cellular data plans were still very high at the time.
It’s meant for devs. I don’t really see why Apple expected to sell so many to every day people. That’s technically what pro means it’s that it’s made for professionals, it’s just that all the Apple fanboys were excited to use it and go figure it didn’t have much usability because the devs haven’t got it yet.
No it's meant for people to use it with their job. Developers are a part of that but with how it is very clearly targeted towards spatial workplaces it's meant for a lot more than Developers.
I don’t get the hype for vr, it seems a bit excessive especially since you pretty much need to have a whole room dedicated to it. Then again if they ever remade the house of the dead for it I’d definitely would have to try it I miss the Dreamcast era and their arcade style games.
This guy hasn't produced his own thoughts in years. There's not a clip that goes by that he isn't reciting and regurgitating what everyone's already said or reciting the popular opinions on any giving subject.
I already dislike VR, and them making a headset that costs 3500, not including probably some addon's and later supporting product's. Is is dumb if you ask me. Like you can literally go buy a car with 3500.....
VR and AR has some really good potential in the world outside video games. For instance, an architect can see a life-sized version of his finished design in the place it's going to be built. A rocket scientist can see individual parts of the rocket and interact with them in a 3D space. Even right now, Amazon on mobile has a feature where you can preview an AR version of a piece of furniture you intend to buy and see how it would look in the space you want to put it in. Yes, its primarily used for video games, but the applications for real world use exist. @yty445
It was overpriced lol they tried to trick people by sending it out to a bunch of influencers but we all saw through it why pay that much when the oculus is 300-400

First gen tech is always prohibitively expensive and flawed. Headsets like these will be cheap as chips and way better in 5 years
