Infernax is amazing. Especially love Contra mode. *Contra mode was in the original release, but we'll worth everyone's time in trying it after you've played through once normally.
I’ve been playing Infernax for a year now and i loved every second of it, so you can imagine my surprise that it got this unexpected yet welcoming update. So now i am gonna indulge in this newly updated game for more than a fair amount of time thanks to the increased replay value.
You can still play as all of your alts, good and evil, as well. Basically another 6 playthroughs with one update!* Unfortunately, you can't rename Cervul to make him an alternate himself. I'd expect that to be a future update. (Imagine an Axcedor with Gardakan the mage?) *Maxime is still just a single/2-player event. You can play multiplayer now, but no Cervul as a single player follower.
I'd say Bloodstained is the modern Castlevania I always wanted, but Ritual of the Night and both Curse of the Moons. But this is really close behind. Though if you said "the modern Castlevania 2 you've always wanted," I could agree.
@@SquerolBoss The animation style wasn't as good, traditionally always pops more, but the game itself was absolutely amazing. Four years isn't rushed for a game of the style, obviously not as good if it had AAA money behind it, but one of the, if not the very, best Kickstarter games of all time. Infernax is one of my top favorite Metroidvania/Simon's Quest game. Deux or Die is a very nice expansion. Cervul is a welcomed addition to the game. Alcedor doesn't have to face the demons alone anymore.
If you've always loved the idea of Simon's Quest but hated that it's basically unplayable, this game not only fills that void but was already so much beefier than you see at surface level anyway. If this (shitty) review of the newest update introducing multiplayer is your first ever hearing of it, then you've been doing yourself a disservice. It's worth every penny of its 1,999 pennies worth.
No worries about the difficulty level here. That's what Wemod is for, lets me have fun enjoying the game without having to deal with uninstallation inducing frustration lol
You could also turn on Invincibilty and/or Infinite Jumps from the options menu. Both were initially activated via codes for the Game Wizard before being added to the Accessiblity section of the aforementioned menu.
yea, but it's a bit unique with the second character. I think the biggest drawback of the co-op is that only one player can interact with townspeople. I guess this makes sense so both players don't talk to people at the same time, but it can slow things down if you're waiting on player 1 to catch up :P
@@joshuakendygomes296 So far, the change only applies to Alcedor when you rename him. The only exception is when you use Maxime Gun, they both change to Contra inspired characters. I was hoping to get Gardakan and Axcedor together but unfortunately the second character doesn't change when being renamed. I hope that would be possible one day though.
@@DOOM64230 And as far as Maxime is concerned, there's only 1 and 2 player, not an actual single player follower like with every other alt character. Still, the co-op is welcome and surprising for all the alts.
@@fortheloveofking If you pick 2-player, then press to Confirm without a second controller, you can switch between Maxime and Joe as normal, but its pointless as Contra-mode Cervul can only use his self-heal tool.
Don't know if I'm feeling this, I mean, the OG Game is great but this co op swap seems confusing and unnecessary. Would've preferred if they made apart 2 instead with co op added but then again, it may be pretty good. Mabye I'll wait to finish the game before I update to this, but it's good to see that the devs still support this game
@@AWBD_Tower My issue is - while can switch between single and 2-player from the pause menu in Team Mode - you have to commit to a Solo or Team game when starting a New Game. I.E. Can't begin co-op from a Solo Mode playthrough already in-progress. Also, the instant-respawns in co-op can lead you to burn through the 1-4 lives more quickly, as both characters draw from the same pool of Lives.
The Contra-esque respawn mechanic was almost certainly designed with a Maxime Gunn playthrough in mind. A co-op game in that mode starts you with 45 spare lives, rather than its usual 30.
Didn't play this before it left Gamepass cause it seemed like a game I would want to buy and own. Still waiting for at least a half off sale. Seems like my kind of game for sure though.
I normally only buy games for at least 50% but I made an exception for this game and it was more than worth it. Easily the best game I played last year.
Really wish Nintendo would do a better job at informing me when a game I own has an update. Too often do I only find out about it through online videos like this one. Yea sure they flash a quick notification on the top of the screen when you first load up the system however that can be easy to miss and they don't always even do that much. Really annoying.
"Difficult" isn't a word I'd use to describe Infernax, and I've never even turned on Casual mode. Not trying to sound like a hard ass, and not taking away from how much I love it, but you definitely come off as a game journalist (that's never a compliment).
Heck of a game. It's like a really good, modern version of Castlevania II. Loved Infernax.
