CLUB GAPPING A MODERATE SWING SPEED GOLFER // Fairway woods vs. Hybrids
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- After a successful 3 wood fitting with added distance, height and accuracy, Ian and Ryan go through a club fitting and gapping session Cynthia - a moderate swing speed golfer. Ian's fits Cynthia into a new hybrid and fairway wood to fill the gap created between her new longer 3 wood and the longest iron in her set.
In the fitting Cynthia compares her off the rack Titleist, and TaylorMade hybrids to the Titleist TSi1, along with the TaylorMade Stealth Plus 5 wood with a variety of shaft options.

The series with Cynthia has been brilliant, it's been amazing to see how much difference her fitting has made and inspired me to finally go and get my own fitting done. Would really love to see more content / series with moderate swing speeds - perhaps a coaching series next?
My average distances are around the same as Cynthia's, although she strikes it better! I ended up with this same setup, pretty much! Driver, 3-wood, 7-wood, then 5-PW. But I totally agree that 14 clubs are not necessary. I had a couple of fantastic rounds while I was waiting for my irons to be reshafted. I played with woods, 7-iron, two wedges and putter. Scored about the same as I always do and had a blast. Basically hit the 7-iron for everything from 110-160 and had to hit low ones, high ones, cut shots, punches - everything. So fun!
cynthia hunting that flag, great to see. Solid swing and love that you said 13 clubs is fine. I see too many folk carrying 14 because they can but they just confuse themselves. great stuff.
Agreed. She's so dead consistent for efficient testing with a more relatable swing speed, making this info more useful
Perfect! I can totally relate to Cynthia’s distance, clubs, and gaps! More please!
Cynthia's a gamer!!!! Very impressive /consistent swing.....and great knowledge as always explaining the fitting process!!!!
Absolutely love this series. I just got done building myself up some higher lofted fairway woods, and have been using my Arccos data to help with gapping. I'm nearly a match for Cynthia's swingspeed and carry distances. What we need now is a fun 18-hole team scramble event. Ian and Cynthia vs RB and Mike.
I think this explains why the guys at txg are so good. They just know the ins and outs of the gapping and finding that fitting
its like magic watching ian make changes and have them work perfectly
Seeing the fitting process never ceases to amaze me. Watching as shaft/head combos change strike location and ball flight is so fascinating. Always a good video when you can see Ian and the guys working their magic!!
More of Cynthia!! For swing speed and personality! Great video.
Bbbb
Great to see fitting at a more realistic speed my speeds are very similar but I tend to hit it alot spinner and higher wish I had her flight
Loving seeing the different people come on and fit in perfectly always love this channel and this is why...variety is the spice of life
A natural, cost-effective fitting with large improvements on gapping. Love this content
This is one of the best and most beneficial videos that I have seen on any channel. As someone in their mid 60’s - age obviously not score 😂- this was very relatable and useful to me. Cynthia’s numbers are nearly identical to mine. I only wish my swing was as good as hers. Thank you for the great content.
Perfect video for me this morning especially when putting together my set for this season. Love it!
These are a great set of videos with Cynthia. 👍🏼
Love watching these custom fitting / gapping session. Going for a custom fitting on Tuesday, love looking at the data. Great work guys
Incredible display of a good fitting. Makes me want to visit TXG myself.
Cynthia and I are like like twins in terms of swing speed, launch angles etc. I went to a 6 hybrid because my experience with the 6I is the same as Cynthia's. The distance fits the gap but I hit the 6H so much higher and with more spin that I can easily hold greens with it whereas the 6I comes in 10-20 feet lower with far less spin so I have to plan for significantly more roll out. Great to see a more " average" swing speed!!!
Watching you evaluate and adjust clubs is really amazing. I really enjoy you sharing your knowledge. Thanks and much success.
Once again and outstanding and informative video. Watching the process of multiple fitting scenarios is where this channel shines its brightest. Being inclusive for different swing speeds adds even more.
As always, a tremendously valuable video on the art and science of club fitting by the best in the business...period.
What a great swing you have, fun to watch, thank you all 👍
You guys are just amazingly good and professional. Montreal to Toronto office worth the 5 hours drive for sure . Hope to find a spot next winter to get fitted.
Great video as always very jealous of Cynthia's swing . Would be amazing to see txg in the uk .
For that 14th club in the bag, 2 quick ideas:
-A windy day tee shot club with a lower trajectory but just as much ballspeed.
-A dedicated SW so she doesn't unnecessarily hurt the spin producing grooves and clubface of her wedges. Something like a Hi-Toe Wedge or something built like that or chunkier in the sole of the club.
She is so amazingly straight! Brilliant as usual guys😎
Shold have let her hit the ADAMS Hybrid...Righty Matt SURE Liked it!!!
I spent the first couple of months this year trying to figure out what I should play between 3 wood and 4 iron. After some testing, decided on a hybrid. For me, I had more versatility with the hybrid
I think at this stage I have become more interested in club fittings and equipment than actually playing golf 😂. If money was no object I'd be flying to Canada for a new bag.
Perfect timing! I’m going for a gaping session tomorrow! Thanks for the video and info!!
Love this!!!! Such a good move with the stealth fairway. That’s a rocket ship and I’m same swing speed as her.
Agree it’s all about knowing your Yardage, and covered gapping. If you don’t need all 14 clubs, you don’t need it.
One of your best videos for a while, I think. I'm no gear head but it's interesting to see the differences in ball flight with a few tweaks here and there.
Cynthia is an absolute machine. Great swing.
I can't express how useful watching this fitting is for everyone building a bag. For most golfers, slightly larger gaps between clubs is a better strategy. I started down this path 3 yrs ago at TXG, where I spread my 6-irons (PW-5 iron), into the traditional lofts of (PW- 4-iron, 47-degree PW to 24-degree 4-iron). The lofts I ended with are (47, 42, 37, 32, 28, 24). Tiger uses a 48/49-degree pitching wedge - thus allowing him to only need 2-wedges (56&60) - I've made my choice of using (52.5&59). This frees up 2 clubs more at the top of the bag
Tiger can also hit a 7 iron 105 yards to a tucked pin over a bunker. There's a reason that he doesn't need a club to fill that gap.
Great video, so relatable to my swing speed. Very helpful 👍
"Drivers & hybrids & woods, oh my!"
-The Wizard of Golf
Fraz I love the confident call to go 13 Clubs , many moderate speed players would be wise to get on this program , get gapping dialed in and the set creates itself from there 🤙🤙🤙
I have G425 woods/hybrids. 5 wood turned to 16.5, 7 wood at std flat. 4-5 hybrids at std flat. Carry about 225-230 w/ 5w, 210-215 7w, 4h carries 195-200, 5h 185-190. Worked out perfect for my gapping.
I've got G425 woods & irons. 5 wood carries 220-225, 7 wood 205-210, 5 iron 190-195. I'd like to get a hybrid for the sake of variety, but not sure I need it due to current gapping. Interesting to see how your hybrids fit your gaps.
@@mtcollins64 Yeah I like the G425 hybrids a lot but LOVE the fairway woods especially the 7w. I find myself hitting it every chance I can because it's so forgiving and is easy to cut up high and land soft or flatten out a draw and get some extra distance with. I have hit it successfully from anywhere from 190-230.
Maybe I have missed this in other videos (possibly this one too), but when you discuss gapping you normally just look at average distances, but the average is just one parameter in one’s shot pattern distribution, standard deviation is another parameter of also high importance. I mention this because when standard deviation of distances with a club is high, then it may be optimal to set smaller gaps in between clubs. In Cynthia’s case, I wonder if she would have benefited from an “8” and “6” wood combo just to help covering the larger standard deviation of distance with the “7” wood. One advantage of having these two clubs is that the gap between “6” and “3” woods average distance would be smaller than between “7” and “3” woods.
On RB’s comments at the end about par 3’s green depth, I believe he completely forgot the standard deviation part in one’s shot pattern. With Cynthia’s shot pattern she can’t trust to carry 180 to the front, she will leave many short given her shot pattern.
Superb, & excellent stuff Cynthia👍
Leave it at those 13 clubs and throw in a left handed 7 iron. 👍
Great Job. I’m sure Cynthia is going to have a great year.
Great stuff
Excellent video gentlemen, worth viewing.
Fantastic work!!
Amazing process to watch! Question for you boys…at minute 4:14 you talk about matching the 6 iron club speed to peak height, can you explain the significance of this please? Is the 6 iron the benchmark or should all clubs have peak match club speed?
6 iron swing speed is the benchmark
Love it, love it!!!
When is the RB vs Cynthia match 🤭🤭
Great vid!
Did we ever get a follow up with Cynthia? More please.
Great series I don't see her as moderate she's awesome
Good job Cynthia! Question- does Arcos adjust for changes in elevation?
Excellent series this chaps. Out of interest how long a session would be required to gap between your longest iron and your driver, would an hour be enough time? That seems to be the std fit session length available
My issue with my bag is golf course so coastal general 15 + mph wind . If I go hi lofted wood it stalls so trying to find a balance is hard
When are those hoodies coming back to the shop?
did you increase or decrease her 5 wood loft? Overall should moderate swingers play HL versions or standard versions of modern fairway woods?
I’d be curious to hear if the fittings helped Cynthia and Ryan drop any strokes or if handicap stayed pretty much the same!
When's that TXG hoodie hitting the store, lads? Looks sharp as hell
If the 6i has a carry of 150 and the 5H has a carry of 163, why are you targeting the next carry distance of 180-185+? Seems like a big gap between the 5H and the next club? Shouldn't the next target carry after the 5H be 176?
She has room for a 14th club. She could keep the 818 Titleist for 173 yds.
Finally! It is true that you don't need 14 clubs. If your driver goes 210 save some money and get what is necessary.
Can relate to her driver swing speed and distance, but don’t how the gap between woods and driver are so huge
Ultimately are you taking weight out of the 818? Or subbing in the TSI1?
Hey is the lofted up 5 woods shaft at 5 or 7 wood length?
Rather than just going with 13 clubs, put a cut down left handed 6 iron in the bag for occasional trouble shots
Q. What ball does Cynthia play?
ProV1x/KSig
When Cynthia holes one on the range, the whole TXG community is going to jump in the air. Will the earth's rotation be affected? I hope so.
Still don’t understand spin rate…?
What about it still puzzles you?
Dumb questions Where is the Matty boy?, i haven't been on here for a while
He’s left and has his own channel
@@NickWainwright6970 Ok, TXG isn't the same though.
Great fitting video guys. This is how people should do a fitting. Using your fitting knowledge of components, and creativity to come up with Cynthia’s clubs that are needed, and not needed.
Being concerned about what Cynthia needs, and wants, opposed to trying to make a sale.🤙
