They added this song in Legacy of Darkness cos there was a lot of complaints of there not being enough classic Castlevania songs in Castlevania 64. They did a terrific job. Other themes are scattered throughout the soundtrack
They basically improved the game in every aspect. I can understand why people hate C64, but this one fixed pretty much every problem that was in C64, so the hate is completely baseless. As for the music, there are a couple of scattered tracks from previous games (such as Second Struggle and Dance of Ilusions from Rondo of Blood) but my favorite is one nobody talks about, which is a version of Bloody Tears (named Legacy of Darkness part 1 in the soundtrack) which sounds a lot more ominous and creepy than the original, it's great.
@@GiordanDiodato definitely improved camera, or rather 'finished', because Legacy of Darkness is essentially the final finished completer version of Castlevania 64, as that one was rushed out before they had a chance to complete development. Legacy of Darkness is what the game should have been from the start.
God, I love this arrangement. Pure, undiluted Yamane goodness, and she didn't even work in this game. Circle of the Moon's version was fine, just overused. Even the best songs grate on your ears when they overstay their welcome.
I'm glad someone else liked the 3D Castlevanias. I honestly really liked Lord of shadows 1 could not wait for the second one...and then played it...wow hot garbage...but it was at least pretty I guess! This piece of music is one of my favorite songs to go back to from time to time.
Absolutely. Playing this today, on a modern PC emulator with the graphics cranked to 4K, and using an Xbox controller, it's like experincing the game the way it was truly meant to be played.
I want to say this is the best version of "The Sinking Old Sanctuary", but I love some of the faster versions, as well. That's the beauty of CV: the music varies so much that picking a single favorite is nearly impossible on any selection.
This track exists now in restored quality using the original sample sources and it sounds so good I teared up. Look up OrangeC's latest videos, or paste the video ID into the search: frWCi7Qslwk
I wonder if this game's story could be adapted/fleshed out into a show, too? Then again, the "Hunter & Little Magician Girl" dynamic would perhaps be redundant, with the upcoming follow-up to the Netflix series.
Vaya, es bueno saber que no era el único que jugaba esto Desde que lo jugué (7 años de edad) me daba miedo, un año después agarré valor y acabé las 4 historias Ahora es difícil conseguir esta maravilla
The only 3D Castlevania that keep the true feeling of the series, except ofc for the change of the hearts for crystals but still, awesome. I just hate how Konami rushed developers to release the Cv64 and a lot of ideas stayed out in the beta, even characters...
@BastendorfEvergrass OK when I was 7 had no save pack and had to keep the console on it was difficult, especially when my sister just turned it off to annoy the living heck out of me
Yeah, the composers of today's games are getting lazy.. Michiru Yamane (castlevania),David Wise (donkey kong country), Yasunori Mitsuda (chrono trigger, and Koji Kondo (mario and zelda) were one of a kind back in the day..
In truth, the best tunes in videogames nowadays are in the indies. The rest is just repetition of the same... Even Jeremy Soule is losing his touch in the Elder Scrolls, simply because everybody wants games to be more epic... But they are losing their essence
Just imagine the Hyrule theme for a moment, a theme first heard on an 8 bit cartridge. Can you think of any modern game’s main theme that even comes close? It’s all about graphics now.
I think they selected most of the good ones, but indeed there were some disappointing exclusions. I was really hoping to get a remix of Successor of Fate.
Jammer dat deze mooie spellen nu onbetaalbaar zijn geworden, nooit gespeeld de eerste twee 3d Castlevanias op de n64, de ost klinkt in ieder geval subliem
Good game, I had no memory card when I was a kid until later, I would play the game all day and be depressed because I never went outside or talked to anyone, I don't know why it never occured to me that I did not have to turn the console off. Every time I turned it off, it was start over from the beginning, so I have had my fair share of playthroughs of this game.
OMG!!! I was literally thinking to myself "I think I've heard this on SOTN in the inverted Library I believe" and had been looking to see if anyone else noticed and looking to see if it was the same song. I was driving myself crazy here!! Lol. I even had two tabs open... one from the 64 LOD and the PS1 SOTN and going back and forth listening and thought I heard the same tune.
Is not overlooked, some people(including myself) can't simply overlook clumpsy controls and crappy camera. It not just breaks but KILLS the inmersion. It doesn't stop me of appreciating the AMAZING soundtrack, though.
Who said I was talking about the plataformers? Jumping to conclusions, briliant. I'm talking about the Metroidvanias, the PS2 titles, and well, the platafformers as well. And clumsy combat is still clumsy.
Sorry bud, but since the LOS OST has literally won "Best of" awards, I'm going to have to say that, due to evidence, your (subjective) stance has been disproven.
I must say that the soundtracks of this game are beautiful perphaps the gameplay was bit awful because of the camera angles but the music is just beautiful
Sorry, but I disabree. Sure, it's an improvement, but, truth to be told, it's still not a good game. The original is crap, this is just disapointment. And no, I'm not willing to "overlook the game's flaws", because Castlevania has done VASTLY better, to the point the quality standards of both games are practically an insult to the franchise.
But Symphony of the night is too easy and the inverted castle is boring and repetitive. Legacy of Darkness is full 3D and Cornell was a awesome character, Sotn is too overrated.
I love this song it's calming and make you feel like your at a masquerade ball for some reason!! One of the best soundtracks of any game in history especially since it came from Nintendo 64 a old but classic and great game system! I still have my Nintendo 64 too had it since I was a little girl now it will make about 12 or more years!!!!
I don't think I've ever found another game with this quality of atmosphere and music. I would really like to find another game with a soundtrack like this.

The best track in Legacy of Darkness - an underrated N64 title to be sure.
The best track in any Castlevania game.
They added this song in Legacy of Darkness cos there was a lot of complaints of there not being enough classic Castlevania songs in Castlevania 64. They did a terrific job. Other themes are scattered throughout the soundtrack
they also improved the Camera
They basically improved the game in every aspect. I can understand why people hate C64, but this one fixed pretty much every problem that was in C64, so the hate is completely baseless. C64 intro is sn alternate version of Opposite Bloodlines
They made a song about a part of the castle falling into the abyss and turned It into a full on renaissance waltz- kudoz to them lol

Love this game so much, insanely underrated.
sadly it comes off regular CV64, so i don't blame people for thinking this one wasn't going to do anything either.
Legacy of Darkness expansion pack enhanced was a gem. I have a copy complete mint in box 😁
@@Michael-sg6cd treasure that gem because it is not going to see a remake at all, unless fans come together and do it themselves

Hot take but I don't think AVGN's surprisingly shitty review of it a long time ago helped at all.
After all these years I still love this song.
This version of the song is easily the best version of the song. As well as one of the best songs in the series.
Circle of the Moon beats it.
If by 'best version' you mean the version you heard it first on, then yes. Objectively it's the CotM, hands down. That bassline added so much to it
That's Bloodlines sweetie.
I guess everyone hates bloodlines ;-;
Yay for objective opinions /s
God, I love this arrangement. Pure, undiluted Yamane goodness, and she didn't even work in this game.
Circle of the Moon's version was fine, just overused. Even the best songs grate on your ears when they overstay their welcome.
I’d argue that version is kind of awful compared to this and bloodlines, it just feels muddy.
@@Roninkinx Yeah, I see what you mean. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's awful, but it does grate on the ears after a bit of time.
I first played this game in like 2002, haven't forgotten how sick this song is since.
Best 3D Castlevania ever
This and Castlevania 64, yeah easily. I hated how they messed up the entire atmosphere in Lords of Shadow -.-

Glad to hear a remix from the amazing game that is Bloodlines. I wish I could play the 3D Castlevanias. :(
This was my favorite part of the game; solely for this music! I would purposely stall throughout this level just to listen.
I did the same thing! Anything to listen to this song longer!
True Castlevania in this song.
Criminally underrated
This was my first time I heard Sinking old Sanctuary
Mine was in Bloodlines
I remember playing Legacy of Darkness on hard and the woman posing in a dress was....uncovered! I thought, well this IS THE ART TOWER!
If Castlevania ever made A LIVE ACTION tv show, this would be the perfect intro theme. I know there is a Netflix version…

This music and level (Castle Center) is never played in Cornell's story. Instead, it is Tower of Ruins. Which is absent from the playlist...
my childhood was surrounded by these classic soundtracks. i wish games today had this kinda music

Bullshit. The N64 titles are among the worst in the franchise including 3D
This is the best music
Who else here passed the whole game without dying? i Did!!!!!!!
I was looking for a game to start, I will finally take Castlevania Legacy of Darkness after almost 10 years of excuses.
set the playback at 1.5, it sounds like the same speed as castlevania circle of the moon!!
i played this game in 2003 (11 yo) and took me one week later to finish it
glad someone else is sharing my thoughts! thanks sir i loved both games too
Great arrangement of the Genesis game Bloodlines.
Now, I've confirmed it. Mt. Battle from Pokemon Colosseum sounds very close to this! I've listened to both, and they're very similar. :D
