I should have discovered this godly video before. Sinking Old Sanctuary is my favorite song in Vampire Killer (Castlevania: Bloodlines), and one of my most favorite songs in the whole franchise. Hearing it in all its glory is utterly beautiful. Any thanks wouldn't be enough!

Absolutely stunning. Of all the music from Castlevania (and there is so, so much to love) the Sinking Old Sanctuary is honestly probably my favorite. It so vividly evokes the feeling of being in a subterranean chasm surrounded by water, watching the waterfalls above filling the depths as they rise beneath your feet. Castlevania Bloodlines was my very first castlevania game and my first time hearing Michiru Yamane's work. And when I first heard The Sinking old Sanctuary on the genesis back in 1994 and 1996. I immediately fell in love with the music, especially that grandiose intro. And now hearing her playing it on the piano brought tears of happiness and nostalgia. It's one,If not her greatest composition of all time next to lost painting, crystal teardrops, inner quarters, iron blue intention and wandering ghosts. michiru yamane will always be my favorite video game composer of all time and she truly made a masterpiece when she did the music for Bloodlines. This is one of my very favorite Castlevania song, and to be honest one of my very favorite musical tracks of all time. I grew up with the these games, and you have been a deep inspiration, shaping my life to also work with videogames, which I now have done professionally for 20+ years now. I love listening to these piano arrangements! When I first found your channel, I almost didn't believe it was you, and was excited when I realized it was. As I've listened to this song in the context of the game (an old sinking sanctuary), I thought it was somewhat regal in the opening (as though telling us the place was once grand and noble), slightly somber in the first half (as if longing for a place long gone), and mystical in the second half (making the place feel like it's now a mysterious place to explore). And yet, when listening to this version you composed, it suddenly feels recontextualized. This new section you've added feels happy, and suddenly the rest of the song feels happier. By the time we get nack to the end, I no longer feel sad for something not there, but hair for something that once was. These ramblings aside, it leads me to ask, how do you go about composing these arrangements? What process or thoughts go through your head when you're taking these old songs you wrote, and adding new parts to them? To you write with the intention of changing or emphasizing the tone of the song, or is this just how you've always heard your compositions in your head? Are you just embellishing what's already there, or are you finally breaking free of the restraints of a video game to write what you've always wanted?
I'm glad you found my channel. And thank you for your message. The middle part of the piano version is an improvisation. I practice the piano before recording a video, but I can't play exactly the same thing every time. So every time I record a video, I try to vaguely imagine how I want to play it. I just play whatever melody comes to mind at that moment.

I tried self-teaching, but I still wish I'd learned properly. I've always loved the improvisation of jazz, and still hope to learn to play like that.
