Thank you for the video bro. It’s really helpful. I’m getting my CDL and I want to get my truck this year

😅😅😅 I am watching your video at a truck stop pullung a 40k IBS load for JB Hunt. I support your grind brother.
The only issue I have with JB is that the load is always heavy but the pay is not bad.

Not much these days. They are trying to get drivers to do contracts it seems these days and they can have you run where ever and pay you a set amount. But you don't know the times or where you're going. Its like being a company driver at that point. But you do stick to a certain region. Contracts go up and down depending on demand. They are about $3000 a week plus fuel right now in the south east.

Do you think flatbedding is worth it today? I have the opportunity to pick up a decent flatbed for less than 10k, but i dont have any experience with flatbed load brokers. (Im very experienced loading and hauling with a flatbed though.)

Flatbed is seasonal. I’d get the trailer if it’s well below market value. But heading towards August, the season is pretty tapering off. I’d hold of until spring and be ready then. Focus on gearing up for the holiday season. Hopefully it’s a good one.

I like the way you look at things. I just leased onto F2F. I'm gonna start off doing power only. Since watching this video I think I'm gonna stay with the power only for a bit. Like you say ,I will have more expenses if I get a trailer. Peace

There’s positives to both, but compared to dry van, the money is almost the same. You spend far less times waiting to be loaded which means you can spend your time driving and not sitting at docks, which allows for more loads you can complete.

What's up bro, I was thinking about getting my own authority. would you say now is a bad time?

    • @Freight_Up_Trucker
      @Freight_Up_Trucker  Рік тому

Not at all. You just can’t spend your last to get up and running. Make sure you have capital on hand because there are a lot of unforeseen expenses. Prepare to not pay yourself for a month or so. Just to get things running smoothly.

Do you think the bad market right now being power only is helped you

I think it’s kept cost down and has allowed me to haul mostly drop and hook which eliminates long wait times. This way I can do more loads in a week than waiting to unload and load for each one.

@@Freight_Up_Truckercan you do drop and hook overnight too for Amazon? I’m asking because I want to keep my day job after I get my truck this year

    • @Freight_Up_Trucker

You can, but it may not be the best use of your time. You may end up making $200 over a 4-5 hour period. I was thinking the same way when I started and wanted to work on my off day, but I realized I was going to be extremely tired and some loads may take longer than expected. I just did a search for you and the shortest load I see on here is 229 miles. That’s one way.

@@Freight_Up_Trucker thank you so much my brother . You have been very helpful. I’m in New Jersey area. If you don’t mind can you do a search there? I can do New York , New Jersey and Pennsylvania

@sixpacks481 Have you considered a box truck? That might be better for what you’re looking to do time wise.

Decent. It’s still over capacity far as trucks, but things are slowly turning around.

those cans not good to use. Becuse you will have outside air get into system. This will mess up the air dryer. You need away to purg the line.
